Food and nutrition trends cater for many more functions than simply satisfying the physical need for food. Given the fundamental significance of everyday food it seems clear that it is also relevant in urban development processes. Nutrition trends and food outlets influence the attractiveness and quality of life of neighborhoods, and therefore also reflect the development of urban space. This article aims to bring together the topics of urban development, consumption, and current nutrition trends. Attention is focused on the role played by gastronomic landscapes in urban gentrification processes and how current nutrition trends are manifested. Empirical research was conducted between 2019 and 2020 in the case-study district of Ehrenfeld in the city of Cologne. In the past, this industrial neighborhood was affected by downgrading processes. After years of decline, rising vacancy rates, and outwards migration, there have been clear signs of upgrading in Ehrenfeld since the end of the 1990s. The neighborhood is also characterized by an extensive and continuously growing gastronomic landscape, which combines a multiplicity of national and international cuisines and food cultures. About one-third of the food outlets located on Venloer Straße were established between 2010 and 2020.

The Permanence of Socio-Economically Marginal Structures Within Urban Space: The Example of Bogotá The subject of this paper is an analysis of marginal spatial development processes taking place in Bogotá, one of the largest cities in the Southern Hemisphere. Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, situated on a high plateau (Sabana de Bogotá) at over 2,500 metres above sea-level, has currently approximately 8 million inhabitants. In Bogotá, as in any major South American city, we find the characteristic, highly pronounced diversification of urban space in terms of quality, urban landscape features, and living conditions. Marginal areas in Bogotá, characterised by a low quality of urban space, can be divided into two types, their origin and attributes linked to the general social processes that have taken place here in the 20th century. They are distinguished as follows: (a) marginal districts on the outskirts of the city, resulting from a period of dynamic and unplanned urbanisation, from the 1970s until now; and (b) marginal districts in the centre of the city. This article aims to show the mechanisms that contribute to the formation of and changes in these two types of urban space.

Bandung Wetan is known to have many distros and clothing stores which indirectly give birth to many designers or clothes makers, with many designers or clothes makers who need a place where they can look for ideas and exchange ideas, therefore many cafes or restaurants are built. can search for ideas or exchange ideas. Although there are a variety of cafes and restaurants available in the Bandung area, most of the cafes and restaurants require expenses by visitors, which makes it inaccessible to all members of the community or visitors from outside the city itself, in connection with this need a place where clothing makers, designers and communities can gather or exchange ideas no matter their age and economy, they can gather and talk without social gaps. This third place will help the development of the needs of the city community and also the city's economy in the next few years, by increasing the creativity generated by the many places where they can look for inspiration and ideas. The people of the Bandung Wetan area, especially the Cihapit Village will increase the quality of work, study, and products produced by the community. Third place or third place is one of the answers to the approach of urban development itself in an effort to increase the value of an area caused by changes in functions and changes in the pattern of urban space itself. AbstrakBandung wetan dikenal memiliki banyak distro dan toko baju yang secara tidak langsung melahirkan banyak desainer ataupun pembuat baju, dengan banyaknya desainer atau pembuat baju yang membutuhkan tempat dimana mereka dapat mencari ide-ide dan bertukar pikiran, oleh karena itu terbangun banyak kafe ataupun restoran dimana mereka dapat mencari ide ataupun bertukar pikiran. Walaupun terdapat berbagai macam kafe dan restoran yang tersedia di wilayah bandung,  sebagian banyak dari kafe dan restoran itu memerlukan pengeluaran biaya oleh pengunjung, yang menjadikannya tidak dapat di akses oleh semua kalangan masyarakat ataupun pengunjung dari luar kota itu sendiri, sehubungan dengan hal itu diperlukannya tempat dimana pembuat baju, desainer dan mesyarakat dapat berkumpul ataupun bertukar pikiran tidak peduli umur dan ekonomi mereka, mereka dapat berkumpul dan berbincang tanpa adanya kesenjangan sosial. Third place ini akan membantu pembangunan kebutuhan masyarakat kota dan juga ekonomi kota dalam beberapa tahun kedepan, dengan menaikan ke-kreatifitas yang di hasilkan karena banyaknya tempat dimana meraka dapat mencari inspirasi dan ide-ide. Masyarakat wilayah Bandung Wetan, khususnya Kelurahan Cihapit akan menaikan kualitas kerja, belajar, maupun produk-produk yang dihasilkan oleh masyarakat. Third place atau tempat ketiga adalah salah satu jawaban pendekatan penembangan perkotaan itu sendiri dalam upaya meningkatkan nilai suatu kawasan  yang di akibatkan oleh perubahan fungsi dan perubahan pola ruang kota itu sendiri.

The city is a place for human life, where all the components necessary for human life must be present in the city so that human beings can live physically and mentally in peace. The cities of Afghanistan, especially the residential town of Ahmad Shah Baba Mina, are facing many problems. The purpose of this research was to investigate the problems of this town and to provide suggestions for its improvement and organization. The method of this research is library, perception and field considerations. Targeted interviews were conducted with 12 people who were familiar with urban design and urban planning issues. The analysis was performed by SWOT technique and space arrangement. The research results show that this town is faced with challenges such as transportation problems, lack of proper sidewalks, lack of urban furniture, visual personality and identity issues, environmental challenges, lack of proper distribution of land uses, congestion in public spaces. And there are issues that have changed the physical appearance and public spaces. During this research, suggestions for setting up public transportation routes, setting up vendors and new neighborhoods for their activities, Create special bike lanes, Improving the quality of public spaces has been provided to create public activities, improve public spaces as well as promote sensory richness.

"The Five-Minute-Walk Distance Concept, Case Study: City of Cluj-Napoca, Romania. This term, also known as the “pedestrian shed”, refers to the distance that would make a person’s option of walking or driving to a destination differ. The distance is visualized as a 400-meter radius area most commonly found in some major cities or capitals’ downtown areas/main areas. To further highlight the characteristics of this concept I applied it on a case study of the city of Cluj-Napoca, checking the adherence of many areas against the concept’s principles. This will display the percentage of studied areas that meet the definition criteria and the results will indicate the proposed collection of measures to be adopted by the local authorities to increase the area definition validity score and to improve the citizens quality of life. This concept could be easily replicated in any city or capital and its metrics could be used to assess citizens. Current social requirements concerning the living environment tend to be more and more related to the natural values of the urban space. People are aware of the fact that contact with nature is extremely important for of mental and physical health. Therefore, the quality of the natural environment around the place of living influences the quality of life. The studies confirm that the presence of natural elements in the urban space may expressly affect the improvement of this quality. An example of a city with high quality of life is represented by Olsztyn, the capital of the Warmian- Masurian Province, located within the borders of the functional area of the Green Lungs of Poland, which is characterized by the particularly valuable quality of its natural environment. This is confirmed by the results of the social Diagnosis dated 2015, which put Olsztyn in 4th place among the largest Polish cities in the ranking concerning the quality of life. It is also influenced by the quality of the natural environment, which in the case of Olsztyn is manifested in a large number of green areas and standing bodies of water located within the administrative borders of the city. The aim of this paper is to compare the quality of the living environment of individual boroughs of Olsztyn conditioned by the natural elements (greenery, bodies of water, air, noise) in relation to the received public opinion polling results.

In a number of towns and cities worldwide development programmes have been initiated to provide designated bike surfaces reserved for the movement of cyclists along city network. There has been an increase in the use of a bicycle as a regular means of personal transport, particularly in recent years when technical solutions and modern materials have allowed more active use of bicycles in big cities. Judging from the perspective of bicycles, Belgrade has undergone several significant changes. In the period preceding the Second World War the number of bicycles in the city (area of which used to be much smaller than today) was considerable, particularly in relation to vehicles. In the following periods, the development of the city has gradually pushed bicycles towards outskirts. Today bicycles are mostly used for recreation purposes. In this process special signalization addressed to cyclists has been mainly neglected. So‐called standard info‐solutions, essentially addressed to drivers, were applied. New aesthetics of the city, as one of possible ideas of the urban space re‐engineering, is based also on the introduction of “Zones 20” 20 mph (30 km/h) zones as well as on more active use of bicycles. In addition, both mentioned measures increase ecological quality of life in the city. A new concept of info‐system addressed to cyclists moving in a street network of a big city (Case Study of Belgrade, 2004) is presented in this paper.

Intensive urban development has created a shortage of urban green areas. The need to economically plan and use urban green spaces has fueled the redefinition of public spaces and parks so as to provide the residents with both recreation and relaxation facilities, as well as a forum for contact with culture. This paper discusses the case of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) in the Kallithea district on the outskirts of Athens, near the Mediterranean Sea. It fills a gap in the research on the aspects of the practical functioning of such facilities. The methodology used in the research included an analysis of the literature, the SNFCC’s reports, and an in situ survey. The cultural center hosts a number of events aimed at promoting Greece’s natural and cultural heritage. The paper includes a detailed analysis of the events organized by the SNFCC in the period 2017–2020 and their immense impact on residents. The aim of the study is to show that the creation of the SNFCC with the park areas has functioned as a factor contributing to the improvement of the quality of urban space and the quality of life of the city’s inhabitants. The paper’s conclusions indicate that the sustainable SNFCC project, which fulfils the urban ecology criteria, has been very well received by the visitors—citizens and tourists alike. A program-centered innovation introduced by the SN Park has added great value to their lives. The project contributes to economic and cultural growth, as well as the protection and promotion of heritage.

Using heritage as a cultural artifact in city development is not new, but little has been explored about how urban heritage can be utilized as new generative value and a new planning instrument for the revival of cities. The purpose of this paper is to show the creative and the generative use of urban heritage, both for the extension of cultural and tourist offer of the city and for the improvement of the quality of life in physical, social and economic terms for the community. The case study method was used for the adaptive reuse of projects for heritage buildings and urban revival in Kikinda. We argue that urban heritage has to be used, bearing in mind its spatial, economic and social sustainability aspects, and become a generator of urban revival. We go beyond recognition of the value of heritage as a cultural artifact that should solely be preserved and used as a static element in urban development, and view it more as a dynamic asset for city revival processes. We found that for the heritage nodes to be utilized as the new generative value for the revival of cities, they have to be perceived from the network perspective, thus influencing the urban environment in a sustainable way.

Introduction. St. Petersburg is the cultural and sea capital of Russia. The city is characterized by environmental problems typical for the largest cities in the world. It has a technical system for instrumental online monitoring and computational forecasting of air quality. Methods. The system maintains the information process by means of computational monitoring of its current and future state. Results. The paper describes methodological approaches to the generation of instrumental information about the structure and intensity of traffic flows in the urban road network and its digital transformation into GIS maps of air pollution in terms of pollutants standard limit values excess. Conclusion. The original information technology for air quality control was introduced at the regional level in the form of an official methodology and is used in environmental management activities.

Abstract Today, Algeria is one of the developing countries that are engaging seriously into a new approach consisting of all kinds of combined risk assessments for better prevention them. Note that, this is a fairly important parameter, that is, the safety of people and property. However, the magnitude of the risk, of whatever nature, affects a variety of diversified aspects (Human, economic, technical and environmental). This study presented a case study, which is sometimes paradoxical, seeing that it is the result of the combination of all risk factors and specific factors related to them connected to a fragile urban environment: Hassi-Messaoud. It is well known that Hassi-Messaoud is one of the most important city for Algeria's economy; in which the demographic development is mainly known by incessant flows of immigrants, motivated essentially by job search. This arbitrary of population distribution exposes this city to a certain danger; especially as Hassi-Messaoud is in a zone subject to a probable risk expressed here by being characteristic of an oil zone. Thus, this article aimed to provide elements of risk assessment related to oil activity. This approach could conclude that, through a schematic scale, the different types and levels of exposure and vulnerability could be identified, that is, characteristics of the urban space in question.
