The current chapter examines the relationship between facets of cognitive abilities and relevant learning activities by drawing on literature pertaining to higher- and lower-order critical thinking. Specific discussions were made on cognitive architecture and deep learning, modality and information process, and cognitive abilities and levels of process in learning activities. The cognitive ability-learning activity matrix was proposed to (1) raise attention to the relationship between cognitive abilities and relevant learning activities in transversal critical thinking in game-based learning and (2) guide educators, teachers, and professional trainers to facilitate effective transversal of critical thinking skills across domains, disciplines, and learning communities. Discussions of the theoretical and practical significance of the proposed matrix were made. Recommendations for future research were proposed to guide the direction and practice in fostering transversal skills in game-based learning.

Abstract Mangons are newly developed as the qubits for quantum storage and information process. Here in this work, we focus on a hybrid quantum system containing two antiferromagnets, and the entanglement between magnons in the antiferromagnets could be generated through the strong coupling mediated by the same microwave mode. Moreover, we numerically simulated the process with the feasible parameters. And the influence of the system parameters, such as the magnon-photon coupling rate, the detuning, the bias magnetic field and the dissipation on the entanglement are discussed. By adjusting some of the experimental parameters, we show that two antiferromagnets can produce a large entanglement, which is a result that has not been found in other quantum systems before. Our findings may provide a potential platform for the completion of related quantum tasks in the future.

This paper seeks to explain the nature of autopoiesis and its capacity to be efficacious, and to do this, it uses agency theory as embedded in metacybernetics. Agency, as a generalised intelligent adaptive living system, can anticipate the future once it has internalised a representation of an active contextual situation through autopoiesis. The role of observation and the nature of internalisation will be discussed, explaining that the latter has two states that determine agency properties of cognition. These are assimilation and accommodation. Assimilation is an information process and results in implicit cognition and recognition, whereas accommodation uses assimilated information delivering explicit cognition, recognition, and conscious awareness with rationality. Similarly, anticipation, a required property of the living, has two states, weak and strong, and these correspond to the two states of internalisation. Autopoiesis has various properties identifiable through the lenses of three autonomous but configurable schemas: General Collective Intelligence (GCI), Eigenform, and Extreme Physical Information (EPI). GCI is a pragmatic evolutionary approach concerned with a contextually connected purposeful and relatable set of task processes, each undertaken by a team of subagencies seeking collective fitness. Eigenform is a symbolic approach that is concerned with how observations can be suitably internalised and thus be used as a token to determine future behaviour, and how that which has been internalised can be adopted to anticipate the future. Extreme Physical Information (EPI) is an empirical approach concerned with acquiring information through observation of an unknown parameter through sampling regimes. The paper represents the conceptualisations of each schema in terms of autopoietic efficacy, and explores their configurative possibilities. It will adopt the ideas delivered to enhance explanations of the nature of autopoiesis and its efficacy within metacybernetics, providing a shift in thinking about autopoiesis and self-organisation.

The article examines the legal framework for environmental security in the context of globalization. Attention is focused on interstate cooperation in the field of health security. Particular attention is paid to the relationship and correlation of international and national legal acts. The task to unite the efforts in the international community for ensuring the safety of the human environment is being actualized. In modern conditions, the depletion of natural resources and the adverse effects of environmental degradation are an obstacle to sustainable development. Negative trends are recognized land degradation, loss of biodiversity, lack of drinking water, droughts, desertification, aggravating new problems. It is concluded that it is necessary to carry out a set of measures to preserve the environment. Issues related to the rational use of natural resources, seas, oceans, freshwater resources, mountains and forests and protection of wild flora and fauna require solutions within the international community. The importance of international cooperation and consolidation of resources to combat desertification, drought and land degradation is increasing. The international community in the field of environmental protection should be focused on the prevention and limitation of harmful effects on the environment, the rational use of international natural resources and the protection of unique natural objects through conservation from human economic influence. Changes are required in the environmental policies and legal frameworks of states. Consolidation is required by the resources of both government agencies and civil society, including youth, trade unions, the media, academia, the private sector and others.

The digital era is marked by the shift of mechanical and analog technology to digital technology. The transfer of technology has led to the disruption of human culture. One of them is in the way of thinking and acting, especially for professionals. Today, a professional must have digital literacy competence, namely the ability to access, manage, understand, integrate, communicate, evaluate, and create information safely and precisely through digital technology. Widyaiswara is a related profession. Questions arise related to this, namely, "Why must digital literacy be mastered by widyaiswara, and for what?" A literature review has been conducted on ten journal articles published in Google Scholar to answer these questions. The results of the study concluded that digital literacy competence could answer the challenges of training in terms of the ability to update information, use gadgets and applications as sources of information, process and present information from training teaching materials, and finally, take an essential role in facing the pattern of distance training implementation based on e-learning application with its various sophistications. The results of the review are expected to provide insight and can be used as literature for further research.

In recent years, major large ports in China have realized the business informatization of rail-water intermodal transportation. However, the overall development level of intermodal transportation informatization has been restricted to a great extent due to the unbalanced development of intermodal transportation informatization in different regions, the rigid system architecture, the low degree of information sharing, and the lack of data management and analysis methods. Combined with the structure and business characteristics of intermodal transportation information systems, adopting cloud computing and Big Data technology, we propose an intermodal transportation information process with waybill as the information carrier and FPMS as the service fulcrum in this paper. Illustrated by the example of China’s container export process, this paper explores a series of key technical issues in the cloud environment, such as application management, business information sharing, and Big Data processing, at different levels of the construction of the rail water transport cloud platform, combined with its business characteristics, and makes experimental analysis on the relevant models to verify the feasibility of the reconstruction of the rail water transport cloud platform. It can provide theoretical and practical support for the development of rail water intermodal informatization in China.

PurposePrevious research about online recommendation systems has focused largely on their impact on customers' purchase decisions regarding the products being recommended, but it has mostly ignored how they may affect focal product evaluation. This research aimed to examine the influence of recommendation type (i.e. substitute-based vs complement-based) on focal product evaluation dependent on the brand image (i.e. warm vs competent).Design/methodology/approachFour laboratory experiments were conducted. Study 1 adopted an implicit association task. Studies 2 and 3 used a 2 (image: warmth vs competence) × 2 (product display: complements vs substitutes) between-subjects experimental design. Study 4 used a 2 (decision stage) × 2 (image) × 2 (product display) × continuous (need for cognition) between-subjects design.FindingsStudy 1 demonstrated a general “complementation (competition)—warmth (competence)” association. Studies 2 and 3 found that when a focal product had a warm (competent) image, complement-based (substitute-based) recommendations led customers to evaluate it more favorably than substitute-based (complement-based) recommendations. Study 3 further demonstrated that processing fluency mediates the above effect. Study 4 showed that this effect relies on heuristic processing and disappears for those who are in the screening stage or have a high need for cognition.Originality/valueTheoretically, this research extends the understanding of the stereotype content model of focal product brand image, the feelings-as-information process, and moderating roles of processing stage and need for cognition in e-commerce contexts. Practically, the findings provide online retailers a guideline for customizing their recommendation systems.

Purpose: Data collection is the first step of the information process within the health information system, so health information systems are often classified according to data collection method. The general objective of the study was to evaluate influence of source of data, information flows and exchange platforms on level of HIS feedback in public health facilities Methodology: The paper used a desk study review methodology where relevant empirical literature was reviewed to identify main themes and to extract knowledge gaps. Findings: The study concludes that there was feedback at all levels in the HIS. The feedback was on referrals, disease prevalence rates and policy implementation. The feedback was beneficial in terms of helping the health facilities improve data collection, information processing and general implementation of the Health policies. Feedback provided was relevant especially from the Ministry of Health. Recommendations: There is need for Ministry of Health should to increase interaction (feedback) with the lower level health facilities. Ministry of Health should give priority to all health facilities in terms of processing information obtained and feedback given on timely basis. This will improve decision making in all facilities that share information through HIS. Moreover ministry of Health and Administrators of Health facilities should strengthen HIS for the benefit of improving service delivery in the Health Sector. This can be through increasing capacity of the HIS to satisfy needs of all stakeholders
