Abstract Due to the massive urbanization during the second half of the 20th century, rural areas have undergone major structural changes defined by the migration of villagers to cities (implicitly the depopulation of villages), the introduction of new techniques and technologies for working the land and infrastructure developments. In order to call public attention upon these problems and in the attempt to rehabilitate rural areas, more intensive exploitation of tourism resources has taken place. Tourist resources are the elements referring to the social, cultural, historical, human and natural specifics of a country. In rural tourism, travelers take part in the activities, lifestyle and traditions of rural communities, and in this manner they benefit from an entirely personalized experience. They usually rent rural accommodation, which they can combine with rural activities and attractions (recreational and fun). Rural tourism is defined as all rural tourism activities, primarily agrotourism boarding houses and farms, but also small restaurants and hotels or other accommodation. However, there are countries that classify any activity undertaken outside the city as rural tourism. Research in the field of rural tourism development favors the creation of so-called integrated rural tourism (at both the theoretical and practical level) for the exploitation of underdeveloped regions, creating strong links between the social, cultural, economic and environmental resources. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the level of rural tourism in Romania by means of econometric methods and establish means of aligning the Romanian rural tourism product to international standards. One of the main conclusions the present study draws that is tourism is an important economic segment of sustainable development and is also a key component in the formation of the country image at regional and international level.

There is a large and growing body of research acknowledging the existence of health disparities between foreign-born and native-born populations in many high immigrant-receiving countries. Significant attention has been paid to the role of physical and social environments in the changing health status of immigrants over time. However, very limited attention has been given to these issues within the context of rural geographies, despite global evidence that immigrants are increasingly settling outside of traditional gateway cities and into rural communities. This paper presents the results of a scoping review aimed at assessing the state of knowledge on the health impacts of immigrant migration into rural communities in Canada. Guided by Arksey and O’Malley’s scoping protocol, we conduct a review of academic literature in Canada related to rural migration. A total of 25 articles met inclusion criteria which included access to the social determinants of health. Findings identified a paucity of research directly connecting rural settlement to health but the literature did emphasize five distinct social determinants of health for rural residing immigrants: social inclusion, culturally-appropriate services, gender, employment, and housing. This paper concludes with an identification of research gaps and opportunities for future research into whether rural-residing immigrants face a double burden with respect to health inequity.

An approach to digital and social inclusion has been developed which situates learning for digital inclusion in the social context of communities. The approach follows views of learning that emphasise the role of the context in learning and the importance of learning in authentic situations. While digital inclusion programs tend to focus more on teaching people how to use computers and the internet, the approach presented takes a different perspective, in which learning for digital inclusion is situated in the social context of the learners and is based on authentic activities. The approach is being applied in Brazilian rural communities.

AbstractThe paper discusses aspects and dimensions of the public debate about the burden of ageing within the context of public social policy. With references to cultural history and cultural anthropology the analysis puts the emphasis on the social grammar of social norms, cultural codes and cognitive patterns relating the pictures of ageing and intergenerational relationships. Central categories are reciprocity and moral economy. The basic result of the analysis is the social fact of a deep ambivalence embedded into the pictures of ageing and the grammar of intergenerational relatedness. There is no evidence to support theories of linear (increasing or decreasing) trends in the social status and social inclusion of the elderly and old age in the long-run-perspective of social history. The discussions are integrated by a philosophical anthropological perspective of the ageing and the life-span cycle.

The aim of the study was to characterize the functioning of the Local Action Groups (LAGs) in the 2014–2020 perspective and to assess the scale and extent of LAGs impact through the social inclusion policy for rural and urban-rural communities in Lublin voivodship. The aim was achieved through the analysis of literature as well as documents regulating the functioning of all 22 LAGs in Lubelskie Voivodship. The desk research method was also used. In the analysis of the research material elements of descriptive statistics and the significance test of differences were used. It has been demonstrated that counteracting social exclusion in various dimensions and areas was outlined in the statutory purposes and development strategies of all LAGs. Among the LAGs investigated there are entities that actively implement the policy of inclusion. However, the activity of LAGs surveyed in the activities undertaken under the National Program for the Development of Social Economy is low.

STATE POLICIES IN AMAZON AGRICULTURAL SPACE: construction of the Açailândia (MA) – Barcarena (PA) railroad in the quilombo of Africa and Laranjituba in Moju (PA)POLÍTICAS DE ESTADO EN EL ESPACIO AGRARIO AMAZÓNICO: la construcción del Ferrocarril Acailândia (MA) – Barcarena (PA) en el quilombo de África y Laranjituba en Moju (PA)Focalizamos uma situação empírica, o quilombo de África e Laranjituba no município de Moju (PA), para expor tensões e resistências entre a política concebida no Programa de Investimento em Logística (PIL) e o vivido das comunidades do quilombo. Palavras-chave: Tensões Territoriais; Quilombos Amazônicos; Ferrovia; Políticas de Estado.ABSTRACTWe focus on an empirical situation, the quilombo of Africa and Laranjituba in the municipality of Moju (PA), to expose tensions and resistances between the policy conceived in the Program of Investment in Logistics (PIL) and the lived one of the communities of the quilombo. It is a program that announces the construction of the Açailândia (MA) - Barcarena (PA) railroad in the area of the psychosphere and representation, which, although it has not gained a spatial form, already stresses the place. We intend, therefore, to reflect on the relationship between space and politics, that is, about the transport logistic project, under strong influence of the State, and its effects among the quilombola rural communities when launching the discourse of spatial integration, development And social inclusion through the interconnection of a territory with great mineral potential. The analytical methodology adopted considers the existence of a geographical situation where landscape, territorial configuration and the social dynamics of quilombola rural populations are interconnected the perspective of construction of the railroad producing dialectically territorial strategies of resistance. We conclude that the PIL assumes the Amazon as an empty or empty space, since it disregards the dynamics of the ecological environment and the territory used by the traditional populations' livelihoods, and that the Amazonian quilombola peoples, especially those in Africa and Laranjituba, aware of this condition, has found creative ways to resist and recreate its territorial production strategies. Hugh Trevor-Roper (Lord Dacre) made several iconoclastic interventions in the field of Scottish history. These earned him a notoriety in Scottish circles which, while not undeserved, has led to the reductive dismissal of Trevor-Roper's ideas, particularly his controversial interpretation of the Scottish Enlightenment, as the product of Scotophobia. In their indignation Scottish historians have missed the wider issues which prompted Trevor-Roper's investigation of the Scottish Enlightenment as a fascinating case study in European cultural history. Notably, Trevor-Roper used the example of Scotland to challenge Weberian-inspired notions of Puritan progressivism, arguing instead that the Arminian culture of north-east Scotland had played a disproportionate role in the rise of the Scottish Enlightenment. Indeed, working on the assumption that the essence of Enlightenment was its assault on clerical bigotry, Trevor-Roper sought the roots of the Scottish Enlightenment in Jacobitism, the counter-cultural alternative to post-1690 Scotland's Calvinist Kirk establishment. Though easily misconstrued as a dogmatic conservative, Trevor-Roper flirted with Marxisant sociology, not least in his account of the social underpinnings of the Scottish Enlightenment. Trevor-Roper argued that it was the rapidity of eighteenth-century Scotland's social and economic transformation which had produced in one generation a remarkable body of political economy conceptualising social change, and in the next a romantic movement whose powers of nostalgic enchantment were felt across the breadth of Europe.

Abstract The theme of the paper is very topical in global and European context. It brings theoretical information on the concept of asocial model of early care in the Czech Republic and practical case studies and final reports related to the early care provision which demonstrate tangible activities within the system of the complex support and assistance to children with disability and their families. The author applies the theoretical-practical approach as she is of the opinion that „the practice without theory is as a blind person on the road and the theory without practice is as a cart without an axle”. The aim of the paper is to extend theoretical information on the topic in the Czech Republic by individual examples of final reports related to the provision of social prevention of the early care in the Czech Republic. The overall aim of the paper is to justify topicality and eligibility of early care in its broad reference framework, including its practical impact. The theoretical basis of the paper is elaborated with respect to the analysis and comparison of Czech and foreign literature, legislation, methodology document and other relevant written resources. The practical level is elaborated with respect to 3 cases and final reports of the provider of an early care of the social prevention. The early care in the Czech Republic represents a professional, modern and recognized system in European and global comparison and is legally anchored in the Act 108/2006 Coll. on social services. It aims on the minimization of child´s disability impact upon child´s development, especially the social inclusion of a child and a family and their capability to cope with limitating disability in natural environ, i.e. by the preservation of standard way of life. It represents a multi-dimensional model, overcoming limitation of sectoral division of the early care and facilitating complex assistance from a series of subject fields at the same time. Services for families with an endangered child in early age are the background for social, educational and pedagogical inclusion of a child and the re-socialisation and re-inclusion of a family. Early care is considered preventive, from the point of the prevention of the second disability (i.e. is effective), in the prevention of institutionalized and asylum care (i.e. is economical), in the prevention of segregation (i.e. is ethical).
