This work aimed to problematize the production of the object childhood as a governmentality device, gradually reconfigured in disciplinary society, biopolitics, as Foucault (1979) says, and in the society of control, as explained by Deleuze (1990) and Lazzari (2008). To do so, we used the cartographic method, which points out that, following legal procedures, we research and intervene, intending to produce other realities, seeking to break with the logic of capture established, we will follow the practices of a psychologist in a Specialized Reference Center of Social Assistance (CREAS), which works with children and adolescents victims of rights violations. Pointing out how the production of a literature of Education, at the same time as its production as a field of knowledge, it produced a certain mode of action and a certain subjective profile of childhood, affecting another relationship between families and the Modern State through public policies.

This case study analyses some of the processes that are restructuring public social assistance in the inequality regime that emerges from the recent economic recession in Spain. It shows how social workers turn what could be an inefficient public program into an active social policy through a cognitive, normative and emotional approach. A highly qualified and vocational workforce compensates meagre institutional support and lack of opportunities by instilling in the new poor new knowledge, abilities and attitudes to access basic informal resources from the local context. However, social workers’ agency could eventually contribute to confine clients within the material and symbolic limits of an expanding grey zone with scarce opportunities and diminished well-being, between inclusion and exclusion. This research is based on semi-structured interviews (17) and focus groups (8).

This academic article aims to understand the performance of the Pedagogue in the scope of Social Assistance inserted in the Specialized Reference Center for Social Assistance in the state of Paraíba. To better develop the theme, we will follow the paths of Social Pedagogy, which is a reflection to understand the role of the educator in Social Assistance - CREAS. The choice of theme is justified because it perceives the importance of the formation of Pedagogues around Social Pedagogy. As a theoretical foundation, we support the research on the contributions of Saviani (2013) Paula (2014) Souza, et al (2014), Machado, Rodrigues and Severo (2014), PNAS (2004), LOAS (2003) (2011), for describing the advances of their research in the field of education and Social Pedagogy. As a methodological support, we used qualitative research. It is also emphasized that throughout the investigative work we perceive the importance of discussing the Pedagogue's spaces of action beyond the educational scopes.

AbstractMany provinces have enacted substantial reforms of their social assistance regime in the 1990s. However, we know surprisingly little about the ideas that underlie welfare reform in Canada. In particular, few empirical studies have directly examined the ideas of policy actors. This article presents a retrospective case study of a major policy initiative, namely Saskatchewan's Building Independence (BI), and examines its alignment with three paradigms of social assistance. Data come primarily from interviews with policy actors. This study concludes that the policy ideas informing BI align closely with the activation paradigm but also share some similarities with the entitlement and workfare paradigms. The significance of this finding is then discussed in light of three issues: 1) Aboriginal people, 2) the perspective of social assistance clients, and 3) “Third Way” ideology. This article concludes with a research agenda on ideas and policy change.
