Ureteroarterial fistulas are rare, erosive defects that occur between the distal segments of the ureter and the adjacent blood vessels in individuals with urologic and vascular comorbidities. Characterized by diffuse, pulsatile bleeding into the urinary tract, this condition carries a significant mortality rate in the absence of early recognition. Recent treatment efforts have focused on use of endovascular stenting techniques as an alternative to open surgical closure of the underlying defects in hemodynamically stable patients. We provide a literature review detailing the characteristics, mechanism, and management of ureteroarterial fistulas.

Angiodysplasia is a common type of lesion characterized by malformed submucosal and mucosal blood vessels. Angiodysplasia of the gallbladder is extremely rare, usually an incidental finding, with only two cases reported. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is a curative treatment for angiodysplasia of the gallbladder. Our report describes a case of angiodysplasia of the gallbladder in a patient who underwent elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy for biliary colic because of gallstones, and a systematic literature review. We surmise that angiodysplasia of the gallbladder could be a risk factor for gallstones in younger female patients.

Kata kunci: Radioterapi, tumor ganas kepala dan leher, hipotiroid AbstractBackground: Radiotherapy is one option of modality in the management of head and neck cancer beside surgery and chemotherapy. Radiotherapy in the head and neck cancer can affect the thyroid gland and stimulates the gland disorders. Among the side-effects of radiotherapy on the thyroid gland, hypothyroidism is a disorder most commonly found. Hypothyroidism due to radiotherapy is irreversible and affect quality of life of patients Objective: To determine the function of the thyroid after radiotherapy in patients with the head and neck cancer. Literature Review: Hypothyroidism is the most common side effects found after radiotherapy of the head and neck cancer. Abnormalities of the thyroid after radiotherapy is associated with damage cells and small blood vessels of the thyroid gland and capsule fibrosis of the thyroid gland which in turn causes the thyroid gland to shrink. Conclusion: Radiotherapy in patients with the head and neck cancer can cause side effects such as hypothyroidism as evidenced by the increase in the value of TSH and T4 in the impairment of thyroid function tests. Keywords:  Radiotherapy, head and neck cancer, hypothyroid

Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory hormone-dependent disease characterized by abnormal proliferation in the endometrium, nerves, blood vessels, fibroblasts, etc. and accompanied by immunological disorders. Growth factors are an important part of the mechanisms that underlie intercellular communication, auto- and paracrine regulation. This literature review presents data on abnormal expression of growth factors in patients with endometriosis, relationship of growth factors and hormonal status in normal and endometrial tissues, and the supposed role of growth factors in the pathogenesis of the disease.

Intravascular papillary endothelial hyperplasia or Masson’s tumor is a rare reactive disease of vascular origin characterized by exuberant proliferation of endothelial cells notably occurring within blood vessels of head, neck, and extremities. The importance of this entity is its ability to mimic a variety of diseases both benign and malignant in the orofacial region. Here, we present a case of Masson’s tumor within the masseter muscle in a 40-year-old female with emphasis on the sequential investigative procedures performed to diagnose this entity.

Williams syndrome (OMIM 194050) is a multisystem inherited disorder associated with microdeletion of the long arm of chromosome 7 (q11.23). Typical clinical manifestations of the syndrome are supravalvular aortic stenosis and other congenital anomalies of the heart and blood vessels, facial abnormalities, neonatal hypercalcemia, lag in physical, psychomotor and mental development, unusual cognitive and behavioral profile. Patients with WS require medical supervision and prevention of complications throughout their lives. The paper presents an overview of the results of studies devoted to the study of various aspects of diagnosis and management of patients with WS. The description of the three new cases of WS addresses the main problems and possibilities of diagnosis of the disease in patients with different clinical manifestations.
