Single crystals of 2-Aminothiazole 3,5-Dinitrobenzoic acid has been synthesized and good quality optical crystals were grown by slow evaporation technique at room temperature. The crystallinity nature of the grown crystal was confirmed from X-ray diffraction technique. An optical transmittance study was also carried out by UV – Vis spectra. FTIR spectra confirm the presence of functional groups in the grown crystal. The dielectric measurements were carried out in the range of 50Hz to 2MHz. The dielectric constant was seen to increase exponentially at lower frequencies. The microhardness studies were carried out using Vickers hardness indenter. Photoluminescence study shows that maximum emission occurs at 435nm.

Single crystals of the semiorganic materials, L-alanine sodium nitrate (LASN) and D-alanine sodium nitrate (DASN), were grown from an aqueous solution by slow-evaporation technique. X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies were carried for the doped grown crystals. The absorption of these grown crystals was analyzed using UV-Vis-NIR studies, and it was found that these crystals possess minimum absorption from 200 to 1100 nm. An infrared (FTIR) spectrum of single crystal has been measured in the 4000–400 cm-1range. The assignment of the observed vibrational modes to corresponding symmetry type has been performed. A thermogravimetric study was carried out to determine the thermal properties of the grown crystal. The efficiency of second harmonic generation was obtained by a variant of the Kurtz-Perry method.

Optically transparent single crystals of potassium acid phthalate (KAP, 0.5 g) 0.05 g and 0.1 g (1 and 2 mol %) trytophan were grown in aqueous solution by slow evaporation technique at room temperature. Single crystal X- ray diffraction analysis confirmed the changes in the lattice parameters of the doped crystals. The presence of functional groups in the crystal lattice has been determined qualitatively by FTIR analysis. Optical absorption studies revealed that the doped crystals possess very low absorption in the entire visible region. The dielectric constant has been studied as a function of frequency for the doped crystals. The thermal stability was evaluated by TG-DSC analysis.

Single crystals of KHCO 3 were grown by the slow evaporation technique of an aqueous solution. Characterization of the sample was done using different techniques such as X-ray diffraction, infrared spectra (IR) and the differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) technique. The analysis of the X-ray diffraction pattern indicated that the sample was a single crystal. The results obtained by IR and DSC indicated the presence of phase transition. From the analysis of DSC, the activation energy of transition was carried out by two methods (Kissinger and Ozawa).

L-asparagine L-tartrate (LAT), an organic compound has been synthesized from aqueous solution and bulk single crystal has been grown by slow evaporation technique. Powder X-ray diffraction studies confirmed the monoclinic structure of the grown LAT crystal. The presence of functional groups of the grown crystal was identified by FTIR studies. Linear optical property of the grown crystal was studied by UV-Vis spectral analysis. Microhardness studies reveal that the crystal possesses relatively higher hardness compared to other organic nonlinear optical crystals. Dielectric response of the L-asparagine L-tartrate crystal was analyzed for different frequencies at various temperatures. Kurtz-Perry powder second harmonic generation test confirmed the nonlinear optical properties of the as-grown LAT crystal.

Lead free Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3 (NBT) and (Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3)1-x(CaTiO3)x (NBT-CT) piezoelectric ceramics with the perovskite structure were studied. The NBT and NBT-CT samples were synthesized using a solid-state reaction method and characterized with X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy and dielectric measurements for several compositions (x = 0, 0.07, 0.15) at room temperature. The XRD analysis showed a stabilization of a rhombohedral phase at a low concentration of Ca (0 < x <0.15), whereas Raman spectra reveal a strong modification for the sample with x = 0.15. The dielectric properties of these ceramics were studied by measuring impedance in the 79-451K temperature range for unpoled and field cooling with an electric field (FC) conditions.

Recently, researchers have shown great interest in improving the thermal, mechanical, dielectric, and microwave properties of pure polymers through the use of polymer-based composites. The essential properties of polymer-based composites can be modified by varying the amount of Zn/Al-NO3layered double hydroxide (LDH) added to polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Therefore, by determining the optimal ratio of LDH in the PVC matrix, the dielectric properties of PVC-LDH composites can be improved. An LDH was prepared using the coprecipitation method, while PVC-LDH composites were prepared using tetrahydrofuran (THF) as the solvent. The composites were characterised using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and room temperature dielectric measurements were investigated using an RF Impedance/Material Analyzer (Agilent 4291). The results confirmed that the prepared composites were pure. Additionally, the presence of LDH in the PVC matrix was verified. The dielectric measurements showed that an increase in the LDH concentration leads to an increase in the dielectric constant and the dielectric loss factor. When used as dielectric filler in the PVC matrix, the LDH improved the dielectric properties of the fabricated composites. The results indicate that these composites show great potential for use as microwave absorbers at low microwave frequencies.

Triglycine sulphate (TGS), an important ferroelectric material has been widely used in the fabrication of high sensitivity infrared detectors at room temperature. Single crystals of KDP doped TGS was grown by slow evaporation method at room temperature in this study. The grown crystal was characterized by UV-Vis spectroscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction studies, and ferroelectric studies. KDP doped TGS crystals were found to be highly transparent and full faced. Nickel sulphate hexahydrate (NSH) and potassium magnesium nickel sulphate hexahydrate (KMNSH) single crystals were grown by slow evaporation method. The grown NSH crystal was found to crystallize in tetragonal system with space group P41 21 2 and KMNSH in monoclinic system with space group P121/c. The optical band gap energies of the grown crystals using UV-Vis spectral results for the doped and undoped NSH crystals were calculated. The presence of various functional groups in the crystal was identified by FTIR analysis. The thermal behaviour of the grown crystal has been studied by TGA/DTA analysis.

Single crystal of organic material Methyl N- phenylsuccinamate (MPS) has been grown by the slow evaporation technique using methanol as a solvent. The crystal belongs to orthorhombic system with non centrosymmetric space group Pna21. Optical transmittance and second harmonic generation efficiency of the grown crystals have been studied by UV-vis-NIR spectrum and Kurtz powder technique respectively. The transmittance of MPS crystal has been used to calculate the refractive index (n), the extinction coefficient (k) and reflectance (R). The laser induced surface damage threshold for the grown crystal has been measured using Nd:YAG laser. The mechanical behaviour of the MPS crystal has also been analyzed.

A single crystal of L-alanine hydrogenchloride doped with thiourea has been synthesized and grown successfully by slow evaporation technique at room temperature. The cell parameters were determined by the X-ray diffraction analysis. The UV - visible spectral analysis has been recorded to study the optical transmittance in the range from 200nm to1200nm.The Fourier transform infrared analysis identified various functional groups present in the material.The dielectric measurement was made as function of frequency.HR-SEM studies confirms the inclusion of the dopant thiourea. The second harmonic generation efficiency has been determined by Kurtz powder test.
