At the beginning of the Barremian time, the sea receded and until the beginning of the late Alb, the territory was a low-lying accumulative plain, within which the accumulation of alluvial and lacustrine-alluvial deposits occurred: red-brown clays, siltstones with layers of brown sandstones and sands and lenses of dark gray lignite. Gravelites and conglomerates are noted at the base of the strata. In the Rannemalba, there was a short-term transgression of the sea, but the territory of the modern Eastern Aral Sea region was not flooded and was a coastal-sea plain, where clays, siltstones and sandstones accumulated. By the end of the Late Alb, the sea regressed and the area again became a low-lying alluvial-lacustrine plain. There was an accumulation of variegated clays, greenish-gray siltstones, sands and sandstones, as well as coals throughout the territory. During the research work, the most promising types of hydrocarbon traps were justified by stratigraphic levels and the zoning of their distribution was revealed. The assessment of the prospects of the area for the identification of oil and gas deposits is given. Informative and qualitative signs (criteria) of oil and gas potential are identified. The areas and specific structures for setting up detailed search operations to identify oil and gas deposits are justified. The estimation of potential resources of hydrocarbon raw materials is calculated.

There are many oil and gas fields around the world where the vast number of wells have been abandoned or suspended, mainly due to the depletion of reserves. Those abandoned oil and gas wells (AOGWs) are often located in areas with a prospective geothermal potential and might be retrofitted to a geothermal system without high-cost drilling. In Poland, there are thousands of wells, either operating, abandoned or negative, that might be used for different geothermal applications. Thus, the aim of this paper is not only to review geothermal and petroleum facts about the Eastern Carpathian Foredeep, but also to find out the areas, geological structures or just AOGWs, which are the most prospective in case of geothermal utilization. Due to the inseparability of geological settings with both oil and gas, as well as geothermal conditionings, firstly, the geological background of the analyzed region was performed, considering mainly the autochthonous Miocene formation. Then, geothermal and petroleum detailed characteristics were made. In the case of geothermal parameters, such as formation’s thickness, temperatures, water-bearing horizons, wells’ capacities, mineralization and others were extensively examined. Considering oil and gas settings, insights into reservoir rocks, hydrocarbon traps and migration paths issues were created. Then, for evaluating geothermal parameters for specific hydrocarbon reservoirs, their depths were established based on publicly available wells data. Thereafter, the average temperatures for selected reservoirs were set. As the effect, it turned out that most of the deposits have average temperatures of 40/50 °C, nonetheless, there are a few characterized by higher (even around 80 °C) temperatures at reasonable depths.

Nadym-Pursk oil and gas region has been one of the main areas for the production of hydrocarbon raw materials since the sixties of the last century. A significant part of hydrocarbon deposits is at the final stage of field development. An increase in gas and oil production is possible subject to the discovery of new fields. The search for new hydrocarbon deposits must be carried out taking into account an integrated research approach, primarily the interpretation of seismic exploration, the creation of geological models of sedimentary basins, the study of geodynamic processes and thermobaric parameters. Statistical analysis of geological parameters of oil and gas bearing complexes revealed that the most promising direction of search are active zones — blocks with the maximum sedimentary section and accumulation rate. In these zones abnormal reservoir pressures and high reservoir temperatures are recorded. The Cretaceous oil and gas megacomplex is one of the main prospecting targets. New discovery of hydrocarbon deposits are associated with both additional exploration of old fields and the search for new prospects on the shelf of the north. An important area of geological exploration is the productive layer of the Lower-Berezovskaya subformation, in which gas deposits were discovered in unconventional reservoirs.

Based on the well-known results of studies of the ether-geosoliton concept of the growing Earth, the article presents the conclusions that made it possible to propose a model of thermonuclear synthesis of chemical elements that form renewable reserves of developed oil and gas fields. It was revealed that local zones of abnormally high production rates of production wells and, accordingly, large cumulative production at developed fields in Western Siberia are due to the restoration of recoverable reserves due to geosoliton degassing. Therefore, when interpreting the results of geological and geophysical studies, it is necessary to pay attention to the identified geosoliton degassing channels, since in the works of R. M. Bembel and others found that they contributed to the formation of a number of hydrocarbon deposits in Western Siberia. When interpreting the results of geological-geophysical and physicochemical studies of the fields being developed, it is recommended to study the data of the ring high-resolution seismic exploration technology in order to identify unique areas of renewable reserves, which can significantly increase the component yield of hydrocarbon deposits.

The structure and seismogeological characteristics of the Achimov strata of the Gydan Peninsula are considered. Geological and geophysical criteria for the regional forecast of oil and gas potential, taking into account the clinoform structure of the Berriasian-Lower Aptian deposits, are proposed. Based on the interpretation of drilling data and 2D seismic exploration, predictive maps of the thickness of sand bodies were constructed, depocenters of accumulation of sandy material were mapped. Seismostratigraphic studies, which are based on a comprehensive analysis of the wave pattern of time seismic sections, dynamic and seismic facies analyzes, as well as paleotectonic and paleogeomorphological reconstructions, made it possible to identify the Salmanovskaya and Yuzhno-Gydanskaya oil and gas zones in the Achimov strata of the Gydan Peninsula.

Introduction. The subject of the study of this work is the deposits of the anomalous section of the Bazhenov formation (ASB) of Western Siberia, the disturbed occurrence of which was recorded by 2D, 3D seismic exploration and borehole data at many fields of the Frolov oil and gas region. The research area unites the company’s assets in the KhMAO and the Tyumen region, which are part of the large hydrocarbon cluster “ZIMA”. Aim. In order to typify various complexes of rocks of the Bazhenov formation and further localization of deposits, a comprehensive core analysis, GIS and seismic studies were performed. Materials and methods. According to the results of lithological study of the core and petrophysical interpretation of logging diagrams, have been identified various types of rocks in the interval of the Bazhenov formation. According to the results of the interpretation of the seismic survey materials, contoured zones that differ in the wave pattern by different coherence of the axes of common phase. The revealed differences in seismic sections compared with borehole data and geological bodies mapped based on the obtained patterns. Results. Based on a comprehensive interpretation of the core, GIS and seismic studies, established the zonality of the distribution of various types of deposits of the Bazhenov formation, the relationship of the development of ASB zones with the introduction of Early Cretaceous sedimentary bodies and showed the introduction of detrital material from the overlying rocks. Conclusions. The authors of the article conclude that the development of anomalous sections of the Bazhenov formation involves several stages of the introduction of landslide bodies of overlying rocks, according to the gradation of Neocomian clinocyclites in the north-west direction. Within the study area, mapped three large landslide bodies in the Bazhenov formation interval, each of which was formed an internal zonality and because of the introduction of rocks from the overlying interval.

The waste generated by the periwinkle (Tympanotonus fuscatus) shell cannot be undermined. In coastal communities worldwide, periwinkle is a major source of proteins and other vital minerals in most delicacies. The shells of these aquatic species, notable for their nutrient provision, contribute to environmental degradation because of the indiscriminate disposal. The absence of a proper waste management program leads to the blockage of drainages, resulting in flooding. This study reviews the various avenues by which the Tympanotonus fuscatus shell can be processed and utilized. The review was conducted to synthesize the current body of knowledge in the research area to help present a proper perspective to periwinkle shell utilization. The study showed that periwinkle shell could effectively be utilized directly as a partial replacement for coarse aggregates and cement in concrete, and in the adsorption of heavy metals from wastewater. The shell was also a suitable replacement for asbestos in brakepad production. Perspectives for future research in periwinkle shell utilization as raw materials for the production of synthetic stones and ceramic mugs, calcium supplements, fluid loss control additive for drilling mud, adsorbents for poisonous and odorous gas capture were identified. Other areas of future research include the use of periwinkle shells as gravel pack and fluid proppants alternatives in oil and gas wells and as replacements for molecular sieves in natural gas conditioning and biogas upgrading.
