The ability to administer a nation's health services is measured by determining the high and low maternal and perinatal mortality rates. The perinatal mortality rate is the largest contributor to the high infant mortality rate. WHO estimated that more than 9 million babies die each year before birth and that during the first week of life the 2/3 causes of death originate from preventable causes. The purpose of this study was to study the causes of perinatal death. The type of research used was qualitative research, to obtain in-depth information about how to analyze the causes of perinatal death in Bandung Regency. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, and data reduction, data presentation with source triangulation and method triangulation. Data were analyzed using content analysis, namely comparing the results of research with the theories in the library. The informants in this study were 12 informants. The results showed that the causes of perinatal death were strongly related to the initial place of service not to health facilities, trust in traditional medicine, late referrals, quality of referrals, and facilities for referral hospitals. Keywords: Death, Perinatal, Qualitative ABSTRAK Kemampuan penyelenggaraan pelayanan kesehatan suatu bangsa diukur dengan menentukan tinggi rendahnya angka kematian ibu dan perinatal. A retrospective study was conducted on babies born during January 1985 to December 1986 at Dr. Pirngadi Hospital Medan. The aim of this study was to evaluate perinatal mortality and morbidity, and various possible factors related to the subject matter. The main results can be summarized as follows : There were 7102 deliveries during the study period consisting of 999 babies weighing less than 2500 gram and 6103 with body weight of 2500 gram or more. Perinatal mortality rate was 563.56 o/oo in the first group and 78.49 o/oo in the second while the avera/ mortality rate was 146.72 o/oo.Rate of perinatal demise was high in babies born from mothers in the age groups of below 20 and above 35 years, namely 681 .82 o/oo and 202.19 o/oo. It was also high among primiparae (165.67 o/oo) and more so among grandmultiparae (246.46 o/oo).There were 1966 (30.49%) ill newborn babies with asphyxia neonatorum accounting for 44.91%, infection 30.42% and respiratory problems 9.21% of the main causes of illness, while respiratory problems (40.05%) and injection (28.68%) constituted the main causes of death .We concluded that the rate of perinatal mortality and morbidity is still high at this hospital. Quality of prenatal and neonatal care with extensive public health education is necessary to be enhanced for the reduction of perinatal mortality and morbidity.

Introduction: Perinatal mortality rate is sensitive indicator of quality of obstetric and pediatric health services. It also helps us to evaluate efficiency of health care provided by a particular hospital. The aim of this study was to evaluate the cause of perinatal death in a tertiary care medical centre, which may help to reduce the incidence of perinatal death and improve the quality of care. Methods: The two-year retrospective study of perinatal deaths was done at Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS), Jumla from March 2017 to April 2019. Data was collected from monthly perinatal audit and annual mortality reviews. Registers in the maternity ward, sick Neonate Care Unit, and files of dead newborns kept in the record section of the hospital were studied and reviewed. Results: A total of 1354 deliveries were conducted in the 24 months period at KAHS with perinatal mortality rate of 36.08 per 1000 total birth and early neonatal death rate of 12.8 per 1000 live birth. The Perinatal mortality was higher in low birth weight and premature baby. The cause of stillbirth and early Neonatal death were identified. Most of the early neonatal death was due to Prematurity (41.17%) followed by Birth Asphyxia and Neonatal Sepsis. Conclusion: Prematurity and its related complication were the most common cause of early neonatal death followed by birth Asphyxia and Neonatal Sepsis. There is need to improve antenatal, early identification of high-risk pregnancy as well as Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to further reduce deaths due to prematurity and birth asphyxia.

Clients with hallucinations really need continuous family support both internal and external families. Reduced external family support will cause a heavy burden on the internal family in caring for hallucinatory clients. The reason families bring to the hospital is the inability to treat patient hallucinations at home after hospitalization because hallucinations pose a burden on the family. The purpose of this study was to find out in-depth information about family experience in treating schizophrenic patients who experience auditory hallucinations after hospitalization. This research is qualitative research, the phenomenology approach uses the method of collecting data by in-depth interviews and document review. Data were obtained by in-depth interviews with six participants. The results of the study are two main themes, namely family understanding of recognizing hallucinatory problems after hospitalization and family experience in treating schizophrenic patients with hallucinatory problems. It is hoped that health services will further improve the quality of health services in providing health education to families about how to properly care for hallucinatory patients and families are expected to be able to treat hallucinogenic patients well.

Klien dengan halusinasi sangat membutuhkan dukungan dari keluarga secara terus menerus baik keluarga internal maupun eksternal. Worldwide, indigenous peoples display a high burden of disease, expressed by profound health inequalities in comparison to non-indigenous populations. This study describes mortality patterns among the Guarani in Southern and Southeastern Brazil, with a focus on health inequalities. The Guarani population structure is indicative of high birth and death rates, low median age and low life expectancy at birth. The crude mortality rate (crude MR = 5.0/1,000) was similar to the Brazilian national rate, but the under-five MR (44.5/1,000) and the infant mortality rate (29.6/1,000) were twice the corresponding MR in the South and Southeast of Brazil. The proportion of post-neonatal infant deaths was 83.3%, 2.4 times higher than general population. The proportions of ill-defined (15.8%) and preventable causes (51.6%) were high. The principal causes of death were respiratory (40.6%) and infectious and parasitic diseases (18.8%), suggesting precarious living conditions and deficient health services. There is a need for greater investment in primary care and interventions in social determinants of health in order to reduce the health inequalities.

Abstract: Perinatal death is a big problem especially in a developing country. Some of the hospitals in Indonesia have declared that the number of perinatal death in developing countries is higher than in developed countries. The purpose of this research is to determine the incidence of the factors that affecting perinatal mortality at Prof. DR. R. D. Kandou General Hospital Manado. This research used retrospective descriptive method through medical records of perinatal deaths patients. There were 164 cases of perinatal deaths found where 109 cases still births and 55 cases were early neonatal deaths in 2011, so the number of perinatal mortality rate was 40.17 per mil. The highest number of perinatal death was from multigravide mother, mother with age ≥ 35 years old, spontaneous parturition. There were unknown caused of still births cases (77,06%) and sepsis in early neonatal deaths. The normal birth weight is also with most include of perinatal deaths. Keywords: still birth, early neonatal death, perinatal deaths, perinatal mortality rate.

This study tries to investigate the infant mortality rate and life expectancy based on the 1990 Population Census, and to observe its variations among provinces that take place in the urban as well as in the rural areas of Indonesia. As a whole, the estimate of infant mortality rate and the expectation of life based on the 1990 Population Census is 69 per one thousand life births and 60 years for both urban and rural areas. The variation in the rural areas is larger than in the urban regions.During the period from 1980 to 1990 the infant mortality rate in Indonesia decreased by 4.29 percent annually. If this rate continued to increase till the end of 2000, the infant mortality rate by this time would be 45 per one thousand life births, whereas the expectation of life at birth would become 68 years. Many determinants of infant mortality rates should be taken into account to reduce the figures, particularly the coverage and the quality of the public health service which directly influences the child survival, as well as other determinants which indirectly, yet simultaneously, influence it.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the communication competence of village midwives and TBAs in supporting the decrease of maternal and infant mortality rate and to analyze the efforts of village midwives and TBAs in maintaining partnership in Singkohor sub-district of Aceh Singkil district. The method used is qualitative method with constructivist paradigm. Data were collected based on in-depth interviews on 6 informants consisting of 3 village midwives and 3 dukun bayi. The results showed that the midwives 'midwives' partnership and midwife communications process worked well. The communication competence of village midwives and midwives is seen from the motivation, knowledge and skills indicate that the motivation of the village midwife to partner with the dukun baby is due to the belief and closeness of the community to the midwife whose knowledge is gained from the experience passed down from generation to generation while the shaman has motivation partnering with the village midwife because the TBA believes in the credibility of midwives in handling childbirth where knowledge is gained from the learning process.

The recent article (48: 979, 1971) by M. E. Wegman on "Annual Summary of Vital Statistics-1970," shows clearly that this country has not yet solved the medical and socioeconomic problems which contribute to our inordinately high infant mortality rate, especially among nonwhites. It is a bit puzzling, though, to read in such an article that one can clearly recognize "the innate constitutional vigor of black youtone has only to look at the sports pages daily."

Background: Perinatal loss is one of the most traumatic life events. It is indeed a great psychological and emotional shock to not only the mother and father but the entire family and society as a whole. The perinatal mortality rate (PMR) is an important indicator of the quality of obstetric care during pregnancy. Perinatal deaths result largely from obstetric complications that can be prevented with proper antenatal care and quality neonatal services. The study was aims to study the factors related with perinatal loss and its prevention in future pregnancy. Methods: It was a prospective analytical study. All patients with IUFD, stillbirths and early neonatal loss were studied. Postpartum both mother and father were counselled. Detailed history and thorough physical examination were conducted. Data was recorded and tabulated, observation made and compared with results of various studies. Results: The results showed that the incidence of IUFD was 3.7% and early neonatal death was 10.8% per total admissions. The perinatal mortality rate was 63.62 per 1000 live births. Perinatal mortality rate was inversely related to the number of antenatal visits taken by the patient. Lack of antenatal care results in perinatal deaths probably due to failure of early identification and management of maternal problems that impact negatively on perinatal outcome. Even in advanced economies with sophisticated diagnostic and monitoring equipment, lack of antenatal care categorizes a pregnant woman as a high-risk pregnancy. Conclusions: There is a need for awareness regarding importance of antenatal care and institutional delivery. Perinatal mortality is an important indicator of maternal care, health and nutrition. It also reflects the quality of Obstetric and Pediatric care available. Every effort must be made to reduce perinatal mortality.
