This article extends the literature on 21st-century learning skills needed for workplace success by providing an empirical examination of employers’ direct communication to potential employees via job advertisements. Our descriptive analysis of 142,000 job advertisements provides two contributions. First, this is one of the first studies to empirically rank-order skill demand. In doing so, it is clear that oral and written communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills are in high demand by employers, with particular emphasis on the pairing of oral and written communication. Furthermore, it is apparent that many of the skills suggested in the literature as being critical for workplace success are in very low demand by employers, and some were not found to be mentioned at all (e.g., social responsibility). Second, this study explicitly examined whether 21st-century skill demand varied by job characteristics, which was found to be the case, with differences being noted for both education level and degree field requirements. Results were replicated with a sample of roughly 120,000 job advertisements collected 1 year from the initial data collection. Implications for developing educational standards around 21st-century skill development are discussed.

[Bahasa]: Keterampilan abad 21 terdiri dari keterampilan communication, collaboration, critical thinking and problem solving, serta creative and inovative. Keterampilan ini perlu di implementasikan guru dalam proses pembelajaran agar kualitas pembelajaran meningkat. Terbatasnya pengetahuan guru terhadap keterampilan pembelajaran abad 21 menjadi kendala pelaksanaan di dalam kelas. Oleh karena itu, perlu upaya pengenalan keterampilan pembelajaran abad 21 ini kepada guru agar dapat diimplementasikan dengan baik di kelas. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di MTs Massaratul Muta’allimin Banten dengan jumlah peserta sebanyak 8 guru. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mengoptimalkan pemahaman guru terhadap keterampilan pembelajaran abad 21 dan cara mengimplementasi-kannya dalam proses pembelajaran. Pengabdian ini dilakukan dengan cara sosialisasi melalui penyampaian materi kemudian dilakukan evaluasi di akhir kegiatan yang terdiri dari tiga tahapan yaitu tahap awal, inti, dan akhir. Berdasarkan hasil angket di akhir kegiatan diperoleh data bahwa 78,13% guru memahami cara penyampaian materi, 78,13% guru dapat memahami materi dengan baik, 82,29% guru memberikan respon terhadap manfaat kegiatan, dan 81,25% guru dapat mengembangkan proses pembelajaran abad 21 di kelas. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan pengabdian ini dapat mengoptimalkan pemahaman guru di MTs Massaratul Muta’llimin Banten terhadap keterampilan pembelajaran abad 21. Kata Kunci: keterampilan abad 21, communication, collaboration, critical thinking and problem solving, creative and inovative [English]: The 21st Century skills consist of communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, as well as creative and innovative. This skill needs to be implemented by the teachers in the learning process so that the quality of learning increases. The limitation of teachers’ knowledge of 21st-century learning skills is an obstacle for implementation in the classroom. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce this 21st-century learning skill to the teachers so that it can be implemented well in the classroom. This community service program was carried out at MTs Massaratul Muta'allimin Banten with eight teachers as the participants. It aims to optimize teachers' understanding of 21st-century learning skills and how to implement them in the learning process. This program was held by means of socialization through the delivery of material then an evaluation was administered at the end of the activity in three stages namely the initial, core, and final stages. The results of the questionnaire at the end of the activity show that 78.13% of teachers understand how to deliver the material, 78.13% of teachers can understand the material well, 82.29% of teachers respond to the benefits of the activity, and 81.25% of teachers can develop 21st-century based learning process in the classroom. It can be concluded that this program can optimize teachers’ understanding of 21st-century learning skills. Problem solving skills are the abilities to identify problems, search and select various alternative solutions and make decisions in solving all the problems at hand. Problem solving skills are 21st century skills that are needed by society and the world of work. This research is a descriptive quantitative research. The research sample consisted of 300 students who were selected using the stratified random sampling technique. The research instrument used a scale of student problem solving skills. The Analysis of Data used descriptive analysis, independent sample t-test, and ANOVA with the help of the SPSS program. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded (1) the average level of student problem solving skills is in the medium category (62.3%), (2) there is no significant difference in the level of student problem solving skills based on gender, (3) there is no significant difference in the level of student problem solving skills based on developmental status, (4) there is a significant difference in the level of problem solving skills of students based on age groups. The age group that has a significant effect on the difference in the average score of problem solving skills of students aged 23 years

This study using virtual field trip as a facilitator to developing 21st century skill in student. The use of virtual field trip is for developing an innovation of field trip which is visualized as internet based to provide trips on the field without leaving the classroom. This study aimed to facilitate the development of one of 4Cs component, which is communication of the 21st century skills using virtual field in ecosystem. There are 30 students (N=30) of 10th grade in science class at senior high school 20 Bandung became subject. The instrument using eight question for assessed written communication skill, observation rubric for assessed verbal communication skill, and response questionnaire. Through the result, we found thatstudent’s written communication skill has been increasing and included as a middle category of N-gain. The observation showed that students having a good profile on verbal communication skills. This result has been supported by the questionnaire which is all students say agree (57%) and very agree (43%) with the statement that this method help to make learning ecosystem became more interesting and perceivable.

Today, looking at the goals of the training programs, we are faced with a set of skills called the 21st Century skills. These skills are critically important to success in today’s world. One of these skills is to solve the problem and one of the best practices for implementing 21st Century Skills is Problem-Based Learning. However, types of problems referred to here are non-routine problem. In this study, problem-solving skills of the teachers were investigated. For this purpose, a total of 56 prospective science teachers studying in Uludag University have been included in the study. Students were given two different non-routine science problems. The first of the problems has two variables and the second has three variables. Evaluations were made according to Polya’s first two steps. Students were asked to write clearly, what they understand from the problem and what should be done in order to find the solution. The data gathered from students was coded and interpreted using descriptive analysis. The findings showed that they were partially successful to solve the two-variables problem, but they failed to solve the three-variables problem. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is not a new concept for Hospitality Industry and Recruitment functions. AI has displaced the human intervention in routine tasks. In few years, AI will take over several jobs (Kubler, 2018). Recently AI technologies support application screening, data analysis, and preliminary interviews, saving time of recruiters. Chatbots are now designated recruitment officers supporting candidates. Researchers have studied the influence of AI on Recruitment, but only a few focused on the AI displacing human in the recruitment function performed in UAE’s hospitality industry. This research aims to understand the transformation in the recruitment function of UAE’s hospitality industry due to AI intervention. Using concurrent mixed-methods, data was collected by interviewing 10 UAE HR leaders and surveying 135 HR professionals. The inductive-deductive thematic analysis was conducted for subjective measures and descriptive analysis was performed for scaled measures. This study found that UAE’s hospitality sector deployed AI technologies in recruitment areas such as job advertisements, collecting applications, maintaining profiles, and storing the applications. The routine, repetitive, and heavy-volume tasks in the recruitment are delegated to AI while strategic roles are retained for human professionals including development of strategies, and creation of job descriptions and specifications. While the literature review suggested a wider application of AI in recruitment function, UAE’s hospitality sector seems to be lagging. The recommendations will benefit industry leaders, HR professionals, recruitment consultants, and AI developers to rethink on the recruitment strategies, operations, and administration and to embrace the intervention of AI in recruiting the best talent proficiently.
