Environmental Issues and Social Responsibility: A Scientomeric Analysis Using Citespace

Environmental issues and social responsibility have a significant impact on the natural ecological system and economic development. Hence, it is important to find a relative balance path between them. Previous studies have sought to explore environmental or social responsibility rather than seek solutions from a systematic perspective, and there seems to be a lack of a systematic, quantitative review of systematic solutions or details. To identify the multiple impacts and relationships between environmental issues and social responsibility and illustrate emerging trends and challenges, this article proposes a scientometrics review based on 1,336 articles published from 2001 to 2020, through co-occurrence analysis and co-citation analysis together with cluster and burstiness analysis to reveal the depth and breadth of emerging research. This research demonstrates the research paradigm of environmental issues and social responsibility extends from a single stakeholder level to a systematic strategic perspective of multiple organizations and stakeholders. An enormous and developing assortment of literature to environmental issues and corporate social responsibility exists. Literatures on merging the environmental issues in the industry with corporate social responsibility are relatively limited. In order to merging these two, qualitative and quantitative data’s are used to identify the environmental issues in various industries. Considering this developing exploration area, the objective and aim for this paper is to analyze research in international scientific journals that focus on environmental issues, corporate social responsibility, and green supply chain management. We recommend the following queries need to be addressed: (i) what are the common factors considered? (ii) What are the popular MCDM tools used to solve the problems? (iii) What are possible suggestions can be followed? We find that common factors are categorized under three main categories such as social, economic and environmental factors. Common factors are further segregated into sub factors. The most common MCDM tool used was “, DEMATEL ISM and AHP”. Further analysis was done and gaps in literature are identified. These gaps aid us to find improvements for corporate social responsibility and possible future directions.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to review the extant literature on value co-creation using bibliometric analysis in an attempt to gauge the evolving journey of this concept since its inception in the business and management domain.Design/methodology/approachBased on a bibliometric analysis of 458 research articles retrieved from the Thompson Reuters’ Web of Science Core Collection™ for the period of 2004–July 2018, this study carries out the following bibliometric techniques: citation analysis, co-citation analysis and co-occurrence of author keywords.FindingsThe study reveals the nature and direction of research that the field of value co-creation has taken over the past decade. Three significant areas emerge out as prominent themes in the literature of value co-creation: value co-creation in the context of customer service, value co-creation in the context of enhancing brand value and value co-creation for marketing of services through the adoption of service logic. Apart from these, the study also reveals the most influential authors, journals, institutions and countries pertaining to the research on value co-creation, along with the possible future directions of research in this area.Research limitations/implicationsThis study has limitations in terms of usage of a single database and its inability to contextualize the citation structure of articles revealed from the review.Practical implicationsThis study would enable practitioners gain a comprehensive understanding of the concept of value co-creation that they can eventually adopt as a strategy for enhancing their business growth, customer satisfaction and customer loyalty.Originality/valueThis study identifies the intellectual structure of the value co-creation literature and maps out the gradual advancement of the field over the years.

With the rise of knowledge economy, the economic development is dependent upon the production, appropriation, profitization, and distribution of knowledge. When knowledge becomes capital, its dissemination in the society out of benevolence of the universities becomes uncertain. It is because the linkages between the economy and the universities’ core activities of teaching and research have become strong as never before, their linkages with the community and society at large have become blurred. By unravelling the national and international discourse on university social responsibility and related constructs, this chapter shows the importance of university-society linkages in the current economic paradigm, reinstituted not just through a few departments and clinical programmes of the universities but also through their core activities of teaching and research.

Purpose The purpose of paper is twofold. First, it provides a consolidated overview of the existing literature on “big data” and second, it presents the current trends and opens up various future directions for researchers who wish to explore and contribute in this rapidly evolving field. Design/methodology/approach To achieve the objective of this study, the bibliographic and network techniques of citation and co-citation analysis was adopted. This analysis involved an assessment of 57 articles published over a period of five years (2011-2015) in ten selected journals. Findings The findings reveal that the number of articles devoted to the study of “big data” has increased rapidly in recent years. Moreover, the study identifies some of the most influential articles of this area. Finally, the paper highlights the new trends and discusses the challenges associated with big data. Research limitations/implications This study focusses only on big data concepts, trends, and challenges and excludes research on its analytics. Thus, researchers may explore and extend this area of research. Originality/value To the knowledge of the authors, this is the first study to review the literature on big data by using citation and co-citation analysis.

PurposeThe authors evaluate the evolution of the intellectual structure of strategic management (SM) by employing a document co-citation analysis through a network analysis for academic citations in articles published in the Strategic Management Journal (SMJ).Design/methodology/approachThe authors employed the co-citation analysis through the social network analysis.FindingsThe authors outlined the evolution of the academic foundations of the structure and emphasized several domains. The economic foundation of SM research with macro and micro perspectives has generated a solid knowledge stock in the literature. Industrial organization (IO) psychology has also been another dominant foundation. Its robust development and extension in the literature have focused on cognitive issues in actors' behaviors as a behavioral foundation of SM. Methodological issues in SM research have become dominant between 2004 and 2011, but their influence has been inconsistent. The authors concluded by recommending future directions to increase maturity in the SM research domain.Originality/valueThis is the first paper to elucidate the intellectual structure of SM by adopting the co-citation analysis through the social network analysis.

This paper undertakes an analysis and assessment of European Union (EU) social policy in the context of the sustainability of the group's social and economic development. The process of Europeanizing EU social policy is not advanced. Thus, the weight of solving social problems primarily rests with member countries. EU social policy is "looser" in character than other EU policies and its scope is limited to those areas where member states were willing to transfer certain prerogatives to European Union level. The EU only supports social policy in the context of the sustainability of the group's social and economic development. The process of Europeanizing EU social policy is not and supplements the actions of member states in the social sphere. At the same time, the EU supports the concept of corporate social responsibility. Corporate social responsibility is defined as the voluntary taking into account by companies of social and environmental matters in their operations and in relations with interested parties.
