There are reasons to believe that the teachings of Aristotle, his way of thinking, had a significant impact on the formation of certain basic structures of the Western worldview and the thinking of Western people. The features of Aristotle's thinking patterns include: egocentrism in the basis of understanding of reality; phenomenologism (use of forms and phenomena in theoretical constructions without reference to essence); attitude to form as a self-sufficient principle, in isolation from the content; Aristotelian method of thinking suggests similarity, but does not imply the possibility of equalities, identities; therefore, in the Aristotelian picture of the world, the structure of the world is possible only as hierarchical; the use of causality that is close to everyday - teleological - causality, which leads to an understanding of the world as a system of fixed places, with its “embedded” a priori goals; a combination of two schemes in a world picture - hierarchism and a system of places - gives rise to an idea of the world as a hierarchical system of fixed places; this is how the physical, social and mental worlds are understood; the idea of the world as a hierarchical system of fixed places leads to a general scheme of understanding the world, which serves as a matrix for understanding other objects (for example, a person): the world has a center and periphery, with the center being the bottom and the top being the periphery; in the centrality of the lower and the peripherality of the higher there is a deep ambivalence; negation of infinity denies the possibility of any other picture of the world, and contains an implicit denial of the reality of the world. These mental schemes can be regarded to some extent as a key to Western thinking and the Western picture of the world.

The 20th century may be considered the ultimate expression of Western ideals and philosophy: "civilized" humanity's attempt to dominate "uncivilized" peoples and nature. The 21st century soberingly proclaims the shortsightedness and ultimate unsustainability of this philosophy. This paper shows the limitations of a modern Western world-view, and the practical applicability of ideas to be found in Asian philosophies. In outline, the contrast may be portrayed by the following overgeneralizations: (1) From a linear to a cyclical world view; (2) from divine salvation to karmic necessity; (3) from human dominion over nature to human place within nature; (4) from the perfectibility of humanity and the world through science; (5) from atomistic mechanistic individualism to organic interdependence; (6) from competition to cooperation; (7) from glorification of wealth to respect for humanhood; (8) from absolute cultural values to necessary common values. Each of these attitudes is examined in light of what we now know about the world in the 21st century, as Asian philosophy is found applicable to address future problems.

The cultural values that are covered in the way of life is manifested in men’s activities. The cultural values themselves are symbolized through the proverbs. As the expression, the proverb is basically the principle guideline of behavior. Within the proverb is contained a profound experience of the world view as well as the life wisdom that is tightly integrated to the society to which the language belongs. The proverb - known as misil-masal, liat daliat and sukat sarang - is still well recorded and used by Kei community as Kei language speaker.  The people who live in the coastal area especially at the Kei Besar Island are generally the fishermen and farmers.  However, in this research it will  focus on the Kei Besar people’s view in managing their coastal area through the proverbs they use. The uses of words as the expression is closely related to the sea and their way of life especially in connected with fish and boat.  The proverbs which are used by the people in Kei is the summary of their way of thinking about the values of life.  The cultural values in these proverbs are firmness, strength, simplicity, mutual assistance, respect for the elders and leaders, wisdom, thinking before doing, and obedience.<br /><br />Keywords: Nilai Budaya, Peribahasa, Wilayah Pesisir<br /><br />

This qualitative study describes and interprets the lived experiences of African RomanCatholic Church seminarians (priests-in-training). The interpretive lens employed was worldview, a conceptual tool extensively used in African-centred psychology. Sixteen Africanseminarians (age range 21–31 years) were purposely selected and interviewed in depthAdditional sources of data were reflexive notes and observation notes. Data were subjected tovarious iterative cycles of analysis. Participants described their difficulty in adjusting in theseminaries where teaching and living predominantly reflects a Western world view. Theyevidenced cognitive dissonance, emotional discomfort and feelings of marginalisation. Thefindings point to the importance of acknowledging the world views and cultural heritage ofseminarians in their training.

The recent developments observed in the world are owed to the efforts of human capacities and capabilities. Zeal, flair and enthusiasm of work people keep the pace of development in steady mode. However, over a period of time, human motivation to work starts decreasing. In the western world studies have been carried out to find out factors which affect human motivation to devise strategies to enhance work motivation among individuals. It has been observed that determinants of motivation are cultural specific. Moreover it is associated with the world view of human being. Islam is distinguished religion from other religions of the world and forms its own culture. Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in his life time prepared a group of individuals who changed the socio-political scene of this world in few years. Their motivation level was un-parallel to anyone else. The current study explores methodologies of motivation used by the Prophet (SAW) to stimulate his companions. The originality and value of this study can be seen in the sense that it will provide basis for the formulation of motivational framework based on Islamic teachings. As a conclusion, team of researchers comprising of educationists, social scientists, and Islamic scholars must work together to find out framework of motivation in the present day environment.


The diary papers of V. Vynnychenko (1911—1925) as a special interpretive field for studying the author’s world-view aesthetics and his creative intentions are analyzed. The text of the diary is systematized, based on the relevant material: the author’s thoughts on the nature of creativity as a special way of comprehending the world and a person in it; creativity as a manifestation of a person’s specific mental organization; creativity as an opportunity for self-manifestation in the present/future dyad; etc. The degree of correlation of conditions and possibilities to create, which were important for V. Vynnychenko as a politician while the fundamental changes at the beginning of the XXth century in Ukraine took place are also noticed in the article. The author’s issues given in the diary are considered in the aesthetic context of the literary process at the turn of the XIX-XXth centuries, when cardinal changes took place under the influence of interpretative changes of the world picture in philosophy and culture in general are represented in the given work. In addition, attention was paid to the concept of «creative act» and its understanding by V. Vynnychenko as a staged phenomenon: the plan, the stages of its realization, the role of intuition, fiction, fantasy in the creation of the another reality. The author’s interpretation of the author’s phenomenon taking into account to the interaction of the concepts of «endowment», «talent» and «genius» is given and commented. The emphasis is placed on V. Vynnychenko’s diary thoughts about the latest trends in Ukrainian literature of the early XXth century: homocentration, modernism as an art system renovation of the genre and poetic paradigm. To sum up, this allowed to understand the creative laboratory of the author more deeply and earnestly. The diary material is directed to the artistic creation of V. Vynnychenko - the play «The black Panther and the White Bear» for their semantic proximity: the process of creativity, psychological, aesthetic dominant of creativity, symbolism, artist’s essence researches. The perspective of the proposed direction of studying mnemonic and literary material is grounded, which allows the use of an interdisciplinary methodology for understanding aesthetic phenomena.

There are two most inevitable issues on national literature, in this case Indonesian literature. First is the translation and the second is the standard of world literature. Can one speak for the other as a representative? Why is this representation matter? Does translation embody the voice of the represented? Without translation Indonesian literature cannot gain its recognition in world literature, yet, translation conveys the voice of other. In the case of production, publication, or distribution of Indonesian Literature to the world, translation works can be very beneficial. The position of Indonesian literature is as a part of world literature. The concept that the Western world should be the one who represent the subaltern can be overcome as long as the subaltern performs as the active speaker. If the subaltern remains silent then it means it allows the “representation” by the Western.

This article addresses the meaning and significance of the “world revolution of 1968,” as well as the historiography of 1968. I critically interrogate how the production of a narrative about 1968 and the creation of ethnic studies, despite its world-historic significance, has tended to perpetuate a limiting, essentialized and static notion of “the student” as the primary actor and an inherent agent of change. Although students did play an enormous role in the events leading up to, through, and after 1968 in various parts of the world—and I in no way wish to diminish this fact—this article nonetheless argues that the now hegemonic narrative of a student-led revolt has also had a number of negative consequences, two of which will be the focus here. One problem is that the generation-driven models that situate 1968 as a revolt of the young students versus a presumably older generation, embodied by both their parents and the dominant institutions of the time, are in effect a sociosymbolic reproduction of modernity/coloniality’s logic or driving impulse and obsession with newness. Hence an a priori valuation is assigned to the new, embodied in this case by the student, at the expense of the presumably outmoded old. Secondly, this apparent essentializing of “the student” has entrapped ethnic studies scholars, and many of the period’s activists (some of whom had been students themselves), into said logic, thereby risking the foreclosure of a politics beyond (re)enchantment or even obsession with newness yet again.

Family is a tiny scope that will bring someone to social life. The fine social order influenced by condition of every family inside it, because society is an accumulation and reflection of lifestyle, world view, even way of thinking of every individual in a family. Good or worse community at social life is depending on family condition. Family is playing important role to direct children to become good moral generation on and beneficial for society. Therefore, to realize that goal, children emotional education from early age at family scope is requirement.
