The hypothesis was that known in the economy since the second half of the nineteenth century hog cycle is also a typical phenomenon in the contemporary economy. It is also claimed that cyclical supply changes of pig meat are not synchronized between countries. Fluctuations in production are country-specific and are influenced by local conditions. While in the case of pork prices there is a characteristic broad convergence of cycle between countries. Development of world trade exchange and economic integration of groups of countries lead to uniformity of cyclical changes in prices. The study included the world economy and eight selected countries with the largest share in the global production and/or foreign trade. The time range of empirical analysis (analyzing fluctuations in supply and prices) concerned the period 1991-2012.

The need for sustainable development of Ukrainian regions is due to the global threat of environmental degradation, the unstable situation in the world economy, low socio-economic indicators of the country and weak innovation activity. An important factor that has an influence on the economic development of regions is the ecological state of the environment. It plays one of the most important roles in the conducting of economic activities that require the use of natural resources. According to the results of the investigation, four clusters were formed. Cluster analysis made it possible to conduct a general assessment of the state of the regions of Ukraine, to form groups by similarity and to draw sound conclusions about the existence of similarities in the economy. The formation of clusters and the development of sustainable development policies for individual clusters, which should have significant differences, taking into account their specifics, will contribute to the more effective achievement of sustainable development goals.

Cassava is an important food crop, and equipment development for processing it in the developing world requires more research as industrial processing of cassava is still limited. Research efforts made by local engineers need scientific improvement to meet the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), aimed at poverty reduction over a stipulated period of time with globally defined measurable indicators of progress. The World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD), the Report of the Commission for Africa (popularly referred to as the Tony Blair Report), and the New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD) are targeted at re-positioning Africa in the world economy. The need for rapid cassava processing equipment and new equipment development to significantly improve stages involved in its production process is highlighted in this paper.

Health is one of the significant parts of the world, therefore, improvement in health status has become the main objective of the nations and a top leading goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The main goal of the present study is to investigate the worldwide, and income-based categorized countries (developed, developing, and transitional countries) macroeconomic determinants of health expenditure. The aim is to estimate the health expenditures, and its impact on demographic, economic, and environmental determinants. For the empirical analysis, the data was retrieved from the World Bank, covering the time span 2000-2016 for developed, developing, and transitional countries. The results of the study concluded that macroeconomic variables significantly affect health expenditures. Moreover, personal remittances have a dual effect on health expenditure, i.e. a positive impact on transitional economies, while a negative impact on developing economies. In the same way, CO2 emission has a negative impact on worldwide, developed countries.

Crisis response to date. As the world economy has become engulfed in the worst crisis in many generations, the Fund has mobilized on many fronts to support its member countries. We have responded with prompt, large and flexible financial support where needed. Our monitoring, forecasts, and policy advice, informed by a global perspective and by experience from previous crises, have been in high demand. We have deployed a broad financial safety net, through an overhaul of our general lending framework that makes it better suited to members’ needs, and by garnering pledges for a massive increase in Fund resources. And we have contributed to the ongoing collective effort to draw lessons from the crisis for policy, regulation, and the global architecture.

ResumoA Amazônia Sul-Americana é o espaço vital do sistema internacional no século XXI. AbstractThe South American Amazon is the vital space of the international system in the 21st century. It consists of one of the last fields of capitalism’s expansion, with strategic frontier value for the use of nature and geopolitically relevant area, given the global perspective of scarcity of goods necessary for the growth of the world economy. By this fact comes the importance of a study of the Amazonian natural resources. In this article, based on the empirical-deductive method, its inventory and mapping will be carried out, as well as a further analysis in developmental terms. This approach is justified by the fact that there is a constant reassessment and appreciation of strategic resources conditioned by new technologies, giving the Amazon a frontier of contemporary power. Thus, the objective is to demonstrate the possibility of developing the economy through transformation and adding value to natural resources, raising their management and technological level.
