Purpose: The general objective of this study was to assess the determinants of financial inclusion and performance of small and medium enterprises in Nairobi City County.   Methodology: The study adopted a descriptive research design.  Findings: Determinants of financial inclusion among the SMEs in Nairobi City County included; access, Quality and usage of various financial services. The study revealed that determinants of performance among the SMEs in Nairobi City County included; product/service costs, volume levels traded, profit margins, human resource levels and efficiency levels. The results also identified technological innovations such as MPESA, Mshwari and Agency banking as the most crucial technology factors which played a crucial part in improving their business. The regression results revealed that there was a direct link between the performance levels of SMEs and financial inclusion. Further, the study findings also revealed that technology included platforms like mobile money transfers, ATMs and agency banking eased and ensured inclusion. This was seen as an integral part of inclusion further enhancing the performance of various SMEs.Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy: This study can be a source of solution to be implemented by government of Kenya and the Central Bank of Kenya to create policies that create room for small and medium enterprises to obtain loans from financial institutions. In addition, the study This study will also create awareness among financial institutions in the importance of usage, access and quality of finances to small and medium enterprises which in turn will enable better performance of enterprises. This will definitely have an effect on social inclusion of citizens and better the economic performance.The aftereffects of the study would also contribute towards filling the gap on the topic. It is trusted that the discoveries of the study will make significant augmentations to the writing in the field of financial inclusion and performance fortifying further interest.

The study examines the determinant factors that influence financial inclusion among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Ethiopia. The study uses an explanatory research design and a mixed research approach with both primary and secondary sources of data. More specifically, the study adopts a multiple linear regression model. The finding of the study reveals that; supply-side factors, demand-side factors, market opportunity, and collateral requirements have a positive effect on the firm’s access to finance. On the other hand, institutional framework factors, and the costs of borrowing negatively affect the firm’s access to finance. This study suggests concerned bodies sustain rapid and inclusive economic growth and hence eradicate extreme poverty and hunger, the policymakers must build an efficient, strong, and well-functioning financial market system that provides affordable and sustainable financial service to SMEs.

Financial inclusion is often considered as an access to financial resources for the wide public and small and medium-sized businesses, although it is a much broader concept and includes a wide range of access to quality financial products and services, including loans, deposit services, insurance, pensions and payment systems. Mechanisms for protecting the rights of consumers of financial products and services are also considered to be subject to financial inclusion. Financial inclusion acquires great importance during the pandemic and post-pandemic period. The economic crisis caused by the pandemic is particularly painful for low-income vulnerable population. A large part of the poor population who were working informally has lost source of income due to lockdown from the pandemic. Remittances have also been reduced / minimized, as the remitters had also lost jobs and are unable to send money home. Today, when people die from Coronavirus disease, it may be awkward to talk about the financial side of a pandemic, but the financial consequences can be far-reaching if steps are not taken today to ensure access to and inclusion of financial resources. The paper examines the impact of the pandemic on financial inclusion and the responses of the governments and the financial sectors to the challenge of ensuring the financial inclusion of the poor population and small and medium enterprises.

The current study aimed to describe the influence of financial literacy on financial inclusion that mediated by financial training. It focused on Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Respondents in the study were 54 respondents that were taken from 119 MSMEs in Kupang city, Indonesia. The analysis applied path analysis technique. It was to determine the direct or indirect relationship with SPSS Version 20. Analysis results have shown that financial literacy has got a direct and significant impact on financial inclusion. Its contribution to financial training is 33%. In the other side, the contribution of financial literacy towards inclusion is 32%.  Furthermore, financial training has mediated the relationship between financial literacy and financial inclusion. The presentation is 11%. This phenomenon shows that in the future, it is necessary to increase the frequency of financial training for MSMEs actors in Kupang city, Indonesia. The training has to be conducted to increase financial inclusion in understanding the knowledge of the financial product. Since the current study only examined financial literacy, financial inclusion, and financial training, it is suggested that the future researches may examine other aspects such as transparency, accountability, and quality of financial statements.

Indonesia's small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are considered the backbone of the national economy. However, the fact that SMEs still contribute less to the national gross domestic product (GDP) in terms of value-added, need to be addressed. While previous studies mainly focused on financial (access) constraints as one of the major constraints faced by small enterprises which affect their growth and performances, this study aims to extend the relationship between capital and financial performance of Indonesia SMEs with the moderating effect of financial constraints and partners. This study is different from others as it uses a bigger panel dataset which is about 4.36 million SMEs in Indonesia and is the first to explore the role of financial partners comprehensively. Moreover, the panel regression model with geographic analysis unit uses as a data analysis method. The results of the study show that financial capital has a positive and significant effect on the financial performance of SMEs. Furthermore, while the moderation role of financial partners on the relationship between financial capital and financial performance of Indonesia SMEs was failed to prove, the negative moderation effect of financial constraints was able to prove in this study.

Due to the rise in environmental awareness, green technologies and practices have become the conscientious imperative expected from all manufacturing industries. Consequently, environmental initiatives are becoming an essential part of the strategic planning in organizations, including the small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Thus, the objectives of this study were to determine the extent of implementation in green manufacturing practices among the SMEs as well as to examine the relationship between those practices and manufacturing performance. Data was collected via a survey from 544 SMEs across all types of industries located throughout Malaysia. Results of the analysis showed that there is an encouraging level of implementation in green practices among the SMEs, with the optimization of processes to reduce solid waste being the top practice. The results also revealed that green practices within the inbound and production phase of the manufacturing lifecycle significantly affected manufacturing performance but not practices within the outbound phase.

The purpose of this paper is to explore the main determinants of growth in small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in India. The empirical research has suggested that firm growth is determined not only by the traditional characteristics of size and age but also by other firm-specific factors such as indebtedness, internal financing, future growth opportunities, process and product innovation, and organisational changes. No empirical evidence has been provided so far on which of these determining factors are associated with SMEs growth and performance in India. Using a panel dataset of 560 fast growing small and medium enterprises from India the author finds evidence that firm size and age can explain to a large extend the growth in SMEs in India. Firm specific characteristics such as short-term liquidity, future growth opportunities, internally generated funds, and factor productivity are found to be important factors in determining a firm's growth and performance. Economy-wide factors such as inflation and corporate income tax rate (but not gross domestic product) seem to have a significant effect on SMEs growth in India.

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) is more than an information tool and plays a critical role in small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The present study explored the moderating effect of relational capital (RC) on the relationship between CRM dimensions and the performance of 284 Yemeni manufacturing SMEs. Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) was used to test the study’s hypotheses. Results indicate that only three of the CRM dimensions have a significant effect on performance. The moderating effects of relational capital on this relationship were also examined and were found to be significant for only two CRM dimensions: technology-based CRM and CRM organization. Key customer focus and CRM knowledge management had no effect. The findings of this study offer important insights for owners and managers of SMEs, researchers, and policymakers to further understand the effects of relational capital and CRM on SMEs’ performance. SMEs should be encouraged to develop their CRM and relational capital to improve their performance.
