A comparative analysis of the camera eyes of gastropod pulmonate molluscs Cepaea nemoralis and Cepaea hortensis was carried out on the basis of original and published data. It was demonstrated that the eyeballs and their main components in C. nemoralis and C. hortensis have more similarities in morphological and optical properties than in anatomical parameters.

The article provides a comparative analysis of the influence of L.N. Tolstoy and I.I. Sergiev (John of Kronstadt) on the formation of personal worldview in Russian society. The analysis is based on the testimonies of the contemporaries and the previously not reissued publication of “Novy Put” (“New Way”) journal on the subject. In the context of the declared problematics, special attention is paid to the question of transformation of religious consciousness in the course of the personality formation in relation to the period under consideration (the beginning of the 20th century). The author reveals and analyzes the main components of the life stand of Tolstoy and Father John of Kronstadt in the context of their influence on contemporaries. The results of the study allow to reveal the following antitheses that characterize Tolstoy and John of Kronstadt, respectively: doubt - faith, search for oneself – following the once chosen path, preaching of non-resistance as part of the philosophy of not-doing (not doing evil) – preaching of active upholding of faith (doing good), “simple living” – real life with and for common people.

The study carried out a comparative analysis of the effect of 24 epibrassinolide (EB) and 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) on the growth and state of the main components of the glutathione system in the roots of wheat seedlings under the action of 2% NaCl, which for the first time revealed the ability of these phytohormones to similarly stabilize stress-induced decrease GSH / GSSG ratio, positively regulate the activity of glutathione reductase and glutathione-S-transferase. A comparable level of protective effect of BAP and EB on root length was revealed. The data obtained indicate that endogenous cytokinins may play the role of hormonal intermediates in the implementation of the protective.

This article describes ways of using various types of honey in the history of medicine as well as its current stage of development. The authors consider the main components of different types of honey and the national standards of naturally sourced honey. An analysis of research papers on medical uses of honey has been performed, as well as a comparative analysis of recent honey-based medicines available in the pharmaceutical market. On the basis of collected data, some possible prospects for further use of honey in medicine have been outlined.

The study of the optical properties of biological tissues for a wide spectral range is necessary for the development and planning of noninvasive optical methods to be used in clinical practice. In this study, we propose a new method to calculate almost all optical properties of tissues as a function of wavelength directly from spectral measurements. Using this method, and with the exception of the reduced scattering coefficient, which was obtained by traditional simulation methods, all the other optical properties were calculated in a simple and fast manner for human and pathological colorectal tissues. The obtained results are in good agreement with previous published data, both in magnitude and in wavelength dependence. Since this method is based on spectral measurements and not on discrete-wavelength experimental data, the calculated optical properties contain spectral signatures that correspond to major tissue chromophores such as DNA and hemoglobin. Analysis of the absorption bands of hemoglobin in the wavelength dependence of the absorption spectra of normal and pathological colorectal mucosa allowed to identify differentiated accumulation of a pigment in these tissues. The increased content of this pigment in the pathological mucosa may be used for the future development of noninvasive diagnostic methods for colorectal cancer detection.

The published data on several well-known seismic recorders used in modern seismological moni-toring systems are considered, and their qualitative comparative analysis is carried out. Infor-mation about the presence of Russian devices of this class in the State Register of measuring in-struments is given. The key technical characteristics of the "Ermak" recorder and confirming the results of laboratory and field experiments are given. At the same time, special attention is paid to the correspondence of the amplitude-frequency characteristics of the recorder to the reference analogs. A brief description of the flexible power management system for the recorder modules, which is designed to reduce power consumption, is given. The minimum value of the power con-sumption is about 300 mW when recording through six channels, which makes it possible to ef-fectively use the device for long-term measurements using autonomous power supplies. The in-ternal clock of the recorder is synchronized using GPS/GLONASS systems (hundreds of nano-seconds) and NTP-services (tens of microseconds). The efficiency of operation is ensured by the presence of a LCD-screen at the logger, on which, in addition to time and parametric information, waveforms are displayed in various display modes. There is also a list of facilities where "Ermak" was tested or is currently being operated.

Results of investigations of electronic structure and optical properties of GdFeAl and GdFeSi compounds are presented. Spin-plarized density of states and interband optical conductivity spectra were calculated in frame of DFT+U technique with a correction for strong correlation effects in 4f shell of Gd. Optical properties were measured by ellipsometric technique in wavelength interval of 0.22 – 16 μm. Nature of quantum light absorption is discussed on the base of comparative analysis of experimental and calculated spectra. It is shown that main features of frequency dependencies of the optical conductivity are interpret qualitatively by the calculated density of electronic states.
