scholarly journals A Modified Square Patch Antenna with Rhombus slot for High bandwidth

In this the proposed patch antenna operates at 32 GHz which is among the projected 5G communication frequencies and has a novel geometry with rhombus-shaped slots. The first design in this work is a inset fed used conventionally in patch antenna. It has a quarter wavelength impedance matching line. The dimensions are determined according to the usual design considerations. Low return loss and high bandwidth requirements motivates us to modify the antenna design. Therefore, we add rhombus – shaped slots on the patch which leads to an additional increase in the system bandwidth as much as 52 MHz and a reduction in the return loss level up to 11.241 dB. The proposed patch antenna design is conjectured to be a suitable candidate to address the requirements of 5G communication systems. The operating frequency of the proposed antenna can be tuned by changing the geometrical dimensions from microwave to the THz region.

This work describes a compact microstrip antenna design for wide bandwidth applications. The proposed work introduces a methodology to improve the bandwidth, as well return loss by the defective ground structure (Extended F-Shape). As communication systems require small size, broadband and multiband frequency antennas, an inset line feed monopoles have to be ensured for fabricating broadband antennas. Intensive investigations are carried out in the proposed work to design a new antenna with broadband and multi-band properties. Simulations are performed by using the Ansoft HFSS Electromagnetic Simulation Software.

This paper presents a linear polarized aperture coupled inverted U-slot patch antenna with small steps at the edges. The proposed design exhibits wideband behavior, acceptable return loss, VSWR, gain, small size, and less complexity. The theoretical analysis is based on the finite element method (FEM). This design has wide bandwidth, good return loss, VSWR, and radiation characteristics by implanting the inverted U-shaped stepped slots on a single aperture coupled patch. The proposed antenna design shows the measured return loss within acceptable range throughout the band (11.08 GHz–13.25 GHz) and maximum return loss is achieved with proper impedance matching. In this paper, the design considerations are presented and results are validated by the calculated and measured parameters.

This paper presents the design of an inductor and an antenna for a portable device with GPS and FM capabilities. The inductor is designed to operate at the lower frequency FM band as part of a matching network and the antenna is designed to operate at the higher frequency GPS L1 band. The FR4 PCB used has a thickness of 1.6 mm with a dielectric constant of 3.8 and has two metallization layers. The inductor is designed with 1.5 mm trace width, 3.5 turns, and has a dimension of 14.5 mm × 14.5 mm. It has an inductance of 95 nH, a resistance of 2.9 Ω, a self-resonance frequency of 500 MHz, and a maximum Q of 51 from 100 MHz to 200 MHz (FM band). The antenna has a dimension of 49 mm × 36 mm and is designed to operate at 1.5754 GHz L1 band. It also has a return loss of −36 dB and a measured bandwidth of 250 MHz.

In this paper, a novel circular slotted rectangular patch antenna with three triangle shape Defected Ground Structure (DGS) has been proposed. Radiating patch is made by cutting circular slots of radius 3 mm from the three sides and center of the conventional rectangular patch structure and three triangle shape defects are presented on the ground layer. The size of the proposed antenna is 38 X 25 mm2. Optimization is performed and simulation results have been obtained using Empire XCcel 5.51 software. Thus, a miniaturized antenna is designed which has three impedance bandwidths of 0.957 GHz,  0.779 GHz, 0.665 GHz with resonant frequencies at 3.33 GHz, 6.97 GHz and 8.59 GHz and the corresponding return loss at the three resonant frequencies are -40 dB, -43 dB and -38.71 dB respectively. A prototype is also fabricated and tested. Fine agreement between the measured and simulated results has been obtained. It has been observed that introducing three triangle shape defects on the ground plane results in increased bandwidth, less return loss, good radiation pattern and better impedance matching over the required operating bands which can be used for wireless applications and future 5G applications.

Abstract Antenna studies on various wireless communication systems have been carried out by many academics. In this research, the omnidirectional microstrip patch antenna (MPA) is proposed, manufactured, and tested. The operating bandwidth of the antenna is quite suitable for the different applications. The proposed antenna fabricated on the flame retardant (FR-4) substrate with a volume of 75.85 × 57.23 × 1.59 mm3. Computer simulation technology (CST) studio used to design and simulate. Experimental results show that the return loss (RL), bandwidth (BW), voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) and input impedance (Zin ) are -25.26 dB, 61 MHz, 1.12 and 54.46 Ω, respectively. The antenna operates at 2.42 GHz (from 2.39 to 2.45 GHz), which has good performance in the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and ZigBee communications.

in this paper, we propose a new multi-band patch antenna structure for embedded RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) readers and wireless communications. The proposed antenna is a dual band microstrip patch antenna using U-slot geometry. The operating frequencies of the proposed antenna are chosen as 2.4 and 0.9 (GHz), obtained by optimizing the physical dimensions of the U-slot. Several parameters have been investigated using Ansoft Designer software. The antenna is fed through a quarter wavelength transformer for impedance matching. An additional layer of alumina is added above the surface of the conductors to increase the performance of the antenna.

a staircase patch microstrip antenna with slots is proposed to cover the 2G/3G/4G cellular mobile base station bands, when the antenna is excited with a transmission line, creates several modes these modes are composite to obtain a large bandwidth. The proposed antenna operates in the band from 0.86 GHz to 4.78 GHz with an impedance bandwidth of 138%. The use of staircase patch antenna is to achieve more attractive performance such as wider bandwidth, better impedance matching and better radiation. Inserting different slots to the patch of the antenna to enhance the gain and return loss. The gain is obtained ranging from 2.18 dBi to 5.3 dBi. Good radiation efficiencies ranging from 70% to 97% is achieved.
