The high unemployment rate of engineering graduate students in higher education contributes to the increasing need for employment and the high number of job seekers in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0. Need solutions from this case, especially how engineering students in higher education provide alternative applied solutions that can be implemented. Entrepreneurship technology training is an alternative solution for engineering students in higher education. This study aims to design a model of production-based entrepreneurship technology training to improve the skills of engineering students in higher education. To produce a production-based entrepreneurship technology training model, four stages of development research are carried out: 1) Define; 2) Design; 3) Develop; and 4) Disseminate. This paper is limited to, the design stage of a production-based entrepreneurship technology training model. A sample of 550 students took entrepreneurship technology courses in higher education in Padang, Indonesia. Data collection instruments in the form of questionnaires and Focus Group Discussions. The results of this preliminary study are the framework of a production-based entrepreneurship technology training model consisting of five phases, namely, phase 1) Analysis of Entrepreneurial Material and Consumer Needs; phase 2) PIKEN: Evaluation of Student Entrepreneurship Competencies; phase 3) Designing a Business Start Up; phase 4) Formulation of Production-Based Business Plan; phase 5) Online Store Collaboration and Evaluation. This production-based entrepreneurship training model is expected to help reduce the unemployment rate of tertiary education graduates, especially vocational education graduates and students can survive with their entrepreneurial competencies

Continuous technological advances keep challenging current and future engineers to anticipate and adapt to the new trends and paradigms that are expected to take place in a near future. One of such paradigms is the Industry 4.0 that encompasses the promise of a new industrial revolution based on the interconnectivity of people and systems to communicate, analyse and use information related to industrial processes. New challenges, as well as new opportunities, will rise in this digital landscape, demanding from future engineers the ability to adapt and grow in such ground-breaking environments. With such dynamic changes taking place in the current and future industries, engineering education has to adapt and prepare future graduates to work and function in these demanding environments. The set of skills envisaged to be held by future engineers is the ability to work and collaborate using digital means of participation as well as the ability to effectively use intercultural communicative skills. To this end, an exploratory study was conducted among different European Higher Education Engineering Schools to integrate a project with common aims and goals, resulting in various collaborative engineering activities that were designed to be carried out by undergraduate industrial and mechanical engineering students to further improve their learning outcomes and to acquire, or improve on, dedicated intercultural, communicative and colaborative skills. Following both quantitative and qualitative approaches, this study combined different types of data and methods of analysis in order to provide an exploratory account of the envisaged findings. This study assessed the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic in motivating digital transformation in the education sector in Zimbabwe. The study tracked the rate at which the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) tools were used by various institutions during the COVID-19 lockdown. Data were obtained from secondary sources. The findings are that, in Zimbabwe, during the lockdown, a variety of 4IR tools were unleashed from primary education to higher and tertiary education where educational activities switched to remote (online) learning. These observations reflect that Zimbabwe generally has some elements of excellence to drive the education sector into the 4IR, which has the potential to increase access. Access to education, particularly at a higher education level, has always been a challenge due to a limited number of spaces available. The pandemic has presented an opportunity to assess successes and failures of deployed technologies, costs associated with them, and scaling these technologies to improve access.

Student satisfaction, as a key psychological-affective outcome of tertiary education, is a direct measure of the success of Open Distance Learning (ODL). It is therefore vital for ODL Higher Education Institutions to assess and improve student satisfaction constantly. Existing theories on student satisfaction are mostly derived from deductive research, i.e. from research that considers the existing body of knowledge, followed by an investigation of a specific aspect or component, in order to reach a specific conclusion. We, however, maintain the inductive stance that a research framework for student satisfaction in ODL should be derived from students themselves. Accordingly, we purposively collected qualitative data from N=34 South African postgraduate ODL students, representative of various cultural language groups, with regard to student satisfaction. Supported by Atlas.ti, we composed an integrated dataset comprised of students’ responses to two focus-group interviews, as well as students’ written narratives in response to qualitative questions. Through meticulous qualitative data-analysis, we detected data categories, sub-categories, patterns and regularities in the integrated dataset. Theories and findings from the existing corpus of knowledge pertaining to student satisfaction in ODL illuminated our qualitative findings. This paper reports on the knowledge we gained from our participants pertaining to their student satisfaction with the Higher Education (HE) environment, the first of three main research components of an inductively derived research framework for student satisfaction in ODL.

Rural girls belong to disable as per the data, Girl dropout ratio has increase with the enhanced pattern of gender inequality in access to education, which seems to be attainment and from urban to rural and to disadvantaged group in the society.Gender equality and the empowerment of women are gaining ground worldwide. There are more women Heads of state (or) Government then ever and the highest proportion of women serving as government ministers women are excursing ever-greater influence in business. More girls are going to school, and are growing up healthier and better equipped to realize their potential. Girl student’s suffer in many case, both form discrimination and from inequality treatment. It is easy to imagine that the difficulties encountered by rural girl students in obtaining higher education. Providing access to local relevant high-qualities education and training opportunities in critical to retaining rural girl students in Higher Educational Institutions.

AbstractEmbracing tertiary education system represents the beginning of a transition and adjustment period for several students. Most of these have just finished high school where the environment is strictly defined, controlled, stable and attendance is mandatory. Higher Education changes the role of students’ responsibility and this can cause stress and difficulty in the transition to self-directed learning and autonomy promotion. The purpose of this paper is to present an Erasmus+ project that brought together six Higher Education Institutions from different European countries and to describe its current stage. This project aims to develop a shared understanding of engineering mathematics at an early stage of tertiary education and to raise awareness of cultural, professional and educational issues. The initial focus of the work is on the partners’ mutual interest in active learning, particularly the application of Information and Communication Technology in the field of engineering education. When finalised, the project hopes to provide students with a new authentic engineering mathematics subject which meets their needs. This is also the core reason why the on-line course will be composed using innovative pedagogics and ICT tools, as appropriate pedagogics supports students’ procedural, conceptual and application understanding in mathematics and enhances digital competencies, literacy and skills.

This paper takes the application of workflow technology in a multi-smart IOT message-driven practical training execution system as the research background, analyzes the current situation and problems of the practical training execution system, and reconstructs and optimizes the original on-site practical training model and business methods according to the future development needs of the practical training execution system. This study draws on the theoretical perspective of the computer knowledge body to deeply recognize and understand the connotation of computing ability from the levels of knowledge, skills, and attitude, forms a basic understanding of computing ability through literature combing, and refines the core elements of computing ability through a combination of enterprise case study, content analysis, and questionnaire survey, strives to form a more systematic and in-depth understanding of the connotation and elements of computing ability. It also provides a reference for the clarification of computing ability training objectives of computer science teachers under the trend of intelligence. Facing the enhancement of computing ability of engineering students majoring in computer science at the undergraduate level, the objectives of computing ability cultivation are clarified, the key points of computing ability cultivation mode are refined from three levels: curriculum design, teaching operation, management, and control, and three typical computing ability cultivation modes embedded in undergraduate computer education are constructed: knowledge module combination mode, computing context experience mode, and intelligent industry-leading mode. The operational strategies and implementation paths of the models are discussed in depth. This study emphasizes that, based on the analysis of the characteristics of the trend of intelligence, the computing ability cultivation model is not static.

The objective of this study was to explore and empirically investigate the relationship between the labour force across educational levels and foreign direct investment (FDI), and to facilitate comparisons of education statistics and indicators across countries based on uniform and internationally agreed definitions. The analysis focuses on OECD countries. The empirical findings suggest that an educated labour force positively affects inward FDI. However, different educational levels do not have the same level of significance; tertiary education appears to have the greatest influence. As far as gender is concerned, the level of female participation in the workforce seems to be crucial in attracting FDI, and governments should therefore adopt policies to promote women’s empowerment.

Abstract Blockchain is an emerging technology framework for creating and storing transaction in distributed ledgers with a high degree of security and reliability. In this paper, we present a blockchain-based platform to create and store contracts in between students and their higher education sponsors facilitated by intermediary brokers denoted as fundraisers. The sponsorship might be in any form, such as scholarship, donation, or loan. The fund will be arranged and managed by a group of competitive fundraisers who will hold the distributed ledgers and act as the miners in the blockchain network.
