scholarly journals On Experiment of Determining the Relationship between Ship Maneuverability and Gravity of Metacenter using Ship Model

Understanding of ship maneuverability and factors effecting to ship maneuverability is important to naval architectures and marine navigators. In ship control problems, the ship maneuvering characteristic must be considered before designing the controllers. With the development of science and technology, it allowed the studies of ship maneuvering to be performed in computation simulations. However, there are always the different results between computation simulation and the fact. For that purpose, this article presents an experiment to establish the quantitative relationship between metacentric height and ship maneuverability using scaled model ship

The flow of bend reach is complicated, which is difficulty for intersection of ship, and is accident prone. According to the lower reaches of the Hanjiang River MaKou reach of ship model test results, the relationship between channel width and flow are summarized when ship navigation sail in bend reach, which indicated that at approximately the same speed, navigation width of sailing through the bend upward are much smaller than down. As velocity or flow angle increases, the ship track width is broader, and channel width is also broader. the ship control and peer safety management points are forwarded in the lower reaches of Hanjiang river bend, which can provide reference for similar engineering designand research of waterway.

As soon as coming into being, the architecture begins to transfer information to the human being by virtue of various mediums. Nowadays, thanks to the developed science and technology as well as the open mind, the relationship demand between human being and architecture becomes closer, the interaction demand between human being and architecture becomes more frequent, and the experience demand of people for architecture becomes diversified. Nevertheless, the architect can still realize all those purposes by virtue of various mediums.

AbstractThe process of resource utilization by Dendroctonus frontalis Zimmerman attacking loblolly pine, Pinus taeda L., was investigated. The quantitative relationship of attacking parent adult D. frontalis as a function of the normalized infested bole height is described by the model y = Ax(1−x)eBx. Greatest attack density occurs at the mid-bole of the tree and tapers toward the top and bottom. Gallery length (and hence eggs)/100 cm2 was independent of attack density. The relationship between gallery length (or eggs) per parent adult and parent adult density is described by the exponential decay curve y = AeBx, indicating that gallery length and egg population density are controlled by a density dependent compensatory feedback process operating instantaneously. Further support for the mechanism was obtained by analyzing the gallery length per parent adult at different locations on the infested bole. The relationship is described by the model y = [AeBx]/[x(1−x)] and indicates that gallery construction and egg population per attacking beetle increase in the upper and basal portion of the bole. The result is a uniform amount of food and space per individual of the developing population.

Through three creative and important figures, perhaps not well known, trough three images and three architectural ideas raised by them for thinking the urban future, this writing develops some notes useful nowadays, in spite of they remain in the edges of the contemporary dominant urban imaginary. Despite its occasional constraints, Bel Geddes, Fuller and Kurokawa still offer a valuable reflection on the relationship between the city and its environment and, at the same time, about the man-made city as a medium. If these proposals could be seen excessive, this is due to the historical restrictions of a future when defined, gets older. But them are not utopian projects, are raised in precise contexts and are considered viable, trustful in the ability of science and technology for improving the habitat of man.

However, along with the times, pesantren have not only opened religious-based schools, but also public schools that provide general knowledge (natural, social, and language) to their students. Educational formalities in pesantren were also proposed so that pesantren alumni could continue their education to public schools. There are three main problems in this paper by reconstructing the pesantren education system, as follows; (1) the relationship between pesantren and the outside world, (2) the relationship between pesantren and science and technology, and (3) the epistemology of Islamic Science in Pesantren Sains (Trensains). The qualitativedescriptive method is the choice in this study. This research is a qualitative field study with case studies. In order to obtain comprehensive data and pay attention to the relationship between the data and the focus and objectives of the research, data collection in this study used three techniques, namely (1) interviews, (2) participant observation: (3) research documentation. Research activities in data analysis include data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. From this research, it can be found that the interaction of science and technology with science cannot be denied. So pesantren must be prepared to deal with it. There are several Islamic boarding schools that have interacted with science and technology, both of which have greatly influenced the style of education, one of which is the Tebuireng Science Boarding School (Trensains). Santri are invited to study religion (Qur'an) as well as to study the verses of Kauniyah contained in it.Keywords: Interaction, Pesantren, Science, Technology

Why Delegate? ◽

This chapter explains how the modified logic of delegation differs from the standard account in the treatment of the main parties to the relationship. The principal is a more untrustworthy and at times unresponsive figure in her relationship with the agents. The agent, likely a professional agent, is more complicated than portrayed. Professional responsibility is a mechanism to overcome the trust gap in a delegation relationship, according to principal-agent theorists. But overlooked are the side effects of professionalism, where the loyalties it fosters create tenacious control problems. It has a pronounced form in the church and the army, but other security and police forces may find punishing and controlling rogue agents a complicated process. While the boundaries to delegation are uncertain and some may choose not to delegate as much as they should, blame is one task that will be delegated.
