scholarly journals A Novel Technique of Gesture Recognition for Car Infotainment Control

This paper details the development of a gesture recognition technique for car infotainment control. Nowadays, in highway due to heavy traffic or twist and turns along the road the drivers cannot afford to take their eyes of the road. One of the prominent human-machine interface (HMI) technology is gesture recognition. Gesture can be used in the automotive industry to provide a secure and luxurious control interface that will limit driver distraction. Human-machine interfaces permit working vehicle gadgets without changing the driver's consideration. A complete framework for controlling the infotainment hardware through hand motions is clarified in this paper.

Research has developed various solutions in order for computers to recognize hand gestures in the context of human machine interface (HMI). The design of a successful hand gesture recognition system must address functionality and usability. The gesture recognition market has evolved from touchpads to touchless sensors, which do not need direct contact. Their application in textiles ranges from the field of medical environments to smart home applications and the automotive industry. In this paper, a textile capacitive touchless sensor has been developed by using screen-printing technology. Two different designs were developed to obtain the best configuration, obtaining good results in both cases. Finally, as a real application, a complete solution of the sensor with wireless communications is presented to be used as an interface for a mobile phone.

Breakthroughs in interface technologies has encouraged automaker to increasingly replace physical control elements with touchscreens for the center console interface. Whereas the physical elements provide natural haptic and auditory cues supporting interactions even when they are not visually attended to, touchscreen interactions necessitate visual attention because there is not much to feel on the flat screen. Therefore, in-vehicle touchscreens may lead drivers to divert more glances to the touchscreen and away from the roadway, possibly resulting in greater time with eyes off the road and serious safety concerns (Fitch et al., 2013; Olson, Hanowski, Hickman, & Bocanegra, 2009).

This paper is based on research into the representation of modern Information Technology using the 5G network, which gives us great technological opportunities in the automotive industry. The Internet of Things (IoT) gives us great opportunities for smart cities, namely, smart streets that are driven by technologically advanced new generation cars equipped with smart vehicle control devices suitable for all traffic conditions, ranging from heavy traffic jams to various weather conditions. 5G is literally driving innovation, as 5G is an important technology for the automotive industry. With 5G we get better coverage, higher capacity, lower latencies (wait times) and much higher data rates. This will allow your car not only to use Spotifi (a free music streaming and playback app) for the long haul, but will also improve the ride itself, gathering information from other cars, pedestrians, traffic lights and even the road itself. It is run by a cloud-based computer (thousands of computers in particular) that calculates and adjusts our vehicle every millisecond (current situation). The self-contained "intelligence" of our car from our own computer will be present as a backup in case we lose our internet connection or play an ancillary role in managing the vehicle. Even without the internet, 5G communication between cars and cars, roads and pedestrians would play an important role in safely switching from A to B.

Job satisfaction is an important factor for employees working in formal and informal sector. The job is small or big, permanent or temporary, risky or non-risky, job satisfaction is important. It is the mental feeling which drives the employees to excel. Job satisfaction is a combination of psychological, physiological and environmental circumstances. A satisfied employee is a contented and happy human being. The labour turnover depends upon job satisfaction. Even highly paid employees quit the job when they are not satisfied with the job. Road transportation in Tamilnadu is growing day by day. Job stress in the road transportation is very high due to increase in number of vehicle playing on the road and heavy traffic. The drivers and conductors working in public transport corporation are suffering from high job stress. If drivers and conductors are not satisfied with their job which leads to mental stresses and affects the productivity and also creates accidents. In this present study the researchers made an attempt to study the level of job satisfaction among the drivers and conductors who are working in the Tamilnadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC). The study reveals the expectations of drivers and conductors working in TNSTC with regards to the attributes like salary, promotion and fringe benefits etc., are satisfactory and not detrimental.

There is a growing maintenance debt of ageing and critical infrastructures in many municipalities in European welfare states. In this article, we use the multidimensional concept of local capacity as a point of departure to analyse how and in what ways Swedish municipalities work with the routine maintenance of infrastructures, including municipal road networks as well as water and sewage systems. For the road networks, maintenance is generally outsourced to contractors and there is also a large degree of tolerance for various standards on different road segments within and between the municipalities. Less used road segments are not as prioritised as those with heavy traffic. For the water and sewage systems, in-house technical capacity is needed as differences in water quality are not tolerated. Economies of scale mean that in-house capacity is translated into the creation of inter-municipal bodies. As different forms of capacities tend to reinforce each other, municipal capacity builds up over time in circular movements. These results add knowledge to current research by pointing to the ways municipalities are overcoming a run-to-failure mentality by building capacity to pay off the infrastructural maintenance debt.

<p>In this paper we present weight measurements of urban heavy traffic comparing two different Weigh In Motion (WIM) systems. One is a WIM-ROAD system using Lineas quartz pressure sensors in the road surface. The other is a WIM-BRIDGE system using optical fibre-based strain sensors which are applied under the bridge to the bottom fibre of a single span of the bridge deck. We have designed our tests to determine which system is most suited to Amsterdam. We put special focus on the accuracy that each system can achieve and have set up an extensive calibration program to determine this. Our ultimate goal is to draw up a realistic traffic load model for Amsterdam. This model would lead to a recommendation that can be used to re- examine the structural safety of existing historic bridges and quay walls, in addition to the current traffic load recommendations.</p>

In the recognition of electromyogram-based hand gestures, the recognition accuracy may be degraded during the actual stage of practical applications for various reasons such as electrode positioning bias and different subjects. Besides these, the change in electromyogram signals due to different arm postures even for identical hand gestures is also an important issue. We propose an electromyogram-based hand gesture recognition technique robust to diverse arm postures. The proposed method uses both the signals of the accelerometer and electromyogram simultaneously to recognize correct hand gestures even for various arm postures. For the recognition of hand gestures, the electromyogram signals are statistically modeled considering the arm postures. In the experiments, we compared the cases that took into account the arm postures with the cases that disregarded the arm postures for the recognition of hand gestures. In the cases in which varied arm postures were disregarded, the recognition accuracy for correct hand gestures was 54.1%, whereas the cases using the method proposed in this study showed an 85.7% average recognition accuracy for hand gestures, an improvement of more than 31.6%. In this study, accelerometer and electromyogram signals were used simultaneously, which compensated the effect of different arm postures on the electromyogram signals and therefore improved the recognition accuracy of hand gestures.

India’s intended nationally determined contribution emission which is safe, smart and sustainable green transportation network. Azadpur Mandi which is known for the biggest selling place of fruits and vegetable in Delhi is becoming a place of very heavy traffic area zone. People who are living nearby and the people coming to Azadpur Mandi facing a lot of traffic and also because of no proper direction hinted there people are not able to reach their destination on time. This paper assesses urban traffic congestions and its impact on the daily life of stakeholders and also advocates some possible solutions. In this research found results the number of vehicles has increased in the last ten to fifteen years. The total number of categorised vehicle has also increased. Azadpur Mandi has impacted the land value of the surroundings. The road infrastructure is not sufficient to cater to the traffic volume of this area. The number of lanes in this area is less. This paper outlines the problems of traffic congestion in Asia’s largest sabji (Vegetable) Mandi by using statistical tools. There are very few parking lots inside and outside of the Mandi. This paper investigates the goal 11 of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Goal 11 says to make cities safe, resilience, sustainable. According to the Delhi Traffic police, Azadpur is one of the most accident-prone hotspots of Delhi.
