People in China are paying more attention to environmental issues as they increase in importance and consequence. At the same time, the Chinese government has gradually begun paying more attention to the environment, advocating sustainable development. The government has been actively developing green financial products such as green loans, green insurance, green funds, and other financial products to help Chinese companies “go green” and reach peak carbon and carbon-neutral goals ahead of schedule. China attaches great importance to its “green transformation” goals, as can be seen from the number of new policies related to green and sustainable development. Under these circumstances, companies must follow the policy and carry out green upgrades or risk total failure. This chapter mainly discusses the background of what firms face in China's green finance environment, taking clean energy, green buildings, and green transportation as examples of how companies should adapt to these trends and improve their competitiveness.

The development of multimodal transport has become an important gripper to promote logistics cost reduction and efficiency enhancement, improve the quality of modern comprehensive transportation services, and build a green transportation system, which is of great significance for building powerful transportation in Shandong Province. In recent years, the transportation industry in Shandong Province has developed rapidly, but there are still certain shortcomings in the development of multimodal transportation. This article is based on the status of the development of multimodal transport in Shandong Province, conducted an in-depth analysis and research on the issues restricting the rapid development of multimodal transport in Shandong Province, and in-depth analysis of the new situation and new challenges faced by the development of multimodal transport in Shandong Province. Thus, countermeasures and suggestions are put forward for infrastructure construction, innovative service models, improving the level of informatization, and cultivating market systems.

Abstract A relevant and practical research object is analysed in the article – the implementation resolution of green transportation and the benefits of using such means. In this article, object is analysed from the interdisciplinary position, i.e. from the perspective of transportation, one of the logistical subsystems, and sustainable environment. The transportation department is undoubtedly an important guarantor of economic and industrial development. Despite the worldwide importance of transportation in everyday activities, the transportation also poses the risk for human health and life quality, for it is one of the biggest consumer of oil products and significantly contributes towards air pollution. Despite many theoretical and empirical researches, Šiauliai region still lacks an approach towards the implementation possibilities and studies revealing the benefits of green transportation. A comparative analysis has been performed by using the survey data, collected from 402 workers, responsible for transportation, working for Šiauliai regional companies. According to the results of the research for implementation situations of green transport in Šiauliai regional companies, the representatives of regional companies understand the importance of green transport, and more and more companies aim to reduce the environmental risk and to become more competitive. Integrated transportation by combining several means of transport, cargo consolidation by combining small orders and big orders, and ecological driving are the green transportation measures implemented most in regional companies. The typical benefits of green transport are increased environmental friendliness and improved relationship with consumers.

Reducing the harmful effects on the environment and increasing the expression of sustainable development principles is one of the most topical challenges all around the world. Given the importance of logistics for the economy and the growing concern for the environment, the purpose of this article was to reveal a green logistics (GL) practice framework for sustainable development. Based on a systematic and comparative analysis of the scientific literature, the authors present a theoretical conceptual model for applying GL practices to sustainable development. In order to assess the expression of GL practices and their determinants in Lithuanian transport and logistics services companies, a quantitative questionnaire survey was conducted. Descriptive statistics, correlation, and regression analyses were used to analyze the data. The results made it possible to identify GL areas such as green transportation, green warehousing, green management, sustainable waste management, and the prevailing GL practices in Lithuania: “Eco-driving”, “Optimization of transport routes”, and “Optimization of transport cargo distribution”. The factors that most encouraged the application of GL practices in the studied companies were: legal regulation and policies, requirements of business partners, service users, customers and society, awareness of the company’s top management, and corporate culture focused on environmental conservation and sustainable development.

AbstractNatural gas vehicles have been widely used around the world as a mode of green transportation. The defect detection method for a vehicle cylinder, which is the energy storage component of a natural gas vehicle, is essential for ensuring safety. Current vehicle cylinder testing methods are relatively simple and cannot quickly and accurately detect internal defects in the winding layer of the cylinder. In this study, the effect of winding layer defects on the temperature behavior of cylinders during filling was studied using finite element simulation and infrared thermal imaging technology. The results show that a defect in the winding layer acts as a source of thermal resistance that hinders heat transfer. The more serious the defect is, the greater the hindrance of the heat transfer is. According to this principle, an evaluation model based on the R parameter was developed for the temperature changes due to defects, and a method for quantitatively correlating the maximum R value with the defect depth was established, thereby providing a practical approach for the rapid detection and evaluation of defects in cylinder winding layers.

It is widely accepted that human activities largely contribute to global emissions and thus, greatly impact climate change. Awareness promotion and adoption of green transportation mode could make a difference in the long term. To achieve behavioural change, we investigate the use of a persuasive game utilising online transportation mode recognition to afford bonuses and penalties to users based on their daily choices of transportation mode. To facilitate an easy identification of transportation mode, classification predictive models are built based on accelerometer and gyroscope historical data. Preliminary results show that the classification true-positive rate for recognising 10 different transportation classes can reach up to 95% when using a historical set (66% without). Results also reveal that the random tree classification model is a viable choice compared to random forest in terms of sustainability. Qualitative studies of the trained classifiers and measurements of Android-device gravity also raise several issues that could be addressed in future work. This research work could be enhanced through acceleration normalisation to improve device and user ambiguity.
