scholarly journals Predictors of Intention to Provide Halal Maintenance

This study examined the relationship between attitude, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control with the intention to provide halal maintenance to the family among Muslim fathers in Malaysia. The participants comprised of 353 Muslim fathers. The data were collected via a self-administered questionnaire. Findings from the study showed that there was a positive relationship between attitude, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control with the father’s intention to provide halal maintenance for the family. In addition, the subjective norm is proven to be the most significant predictor of the intention to provide halal maintenance for the family.

Halal transportation services is one of the crucial components of producing Halal products. Since Halal is unique and involves elaborate regulations and executions, therefore it requires huge investment. Like any other supply chain, the transportation cost will be transferred to the end users, normally the customers, thus increasing the price of final products. It is notably common to find studies done on Muslim customers and their preference on Halal products, however, studies on Muslims preferences towards Halal transportation could still be considered as novel. By adopting the Theory of Planned Behavior and religiosity; and by taking into account the moderating effect of knowledge, this study aims to identify the factors that lead to the customers’ willingness to pay for the Halal transportation cost. Using a purposive sampling method, the data was collected among Muslim consumers in a prominent shopping complex in Malaysia and was analyzed using Smart Partial Least Squares (PLS). Based on the finding, it is shown that the attitude and perceived behavioral control gave a positive relationship with the willingness to pay for Halal transportation. Meanwhile, subjective norm and religiosity were on the opposite as there were both hold an insignificant effect towards the willingness to pay for the Halal transportation. Knowledge has moderated the relationship between attitude and willingness to pay for Halal transportation, but not for the relationship between subjective norm and perceived behavioral control. It is expected that this study could provide a better understanding of Muslim consumers’ behavior on purchasing for Halal transportation, as well as other Halal supply chain activities.

Purpose This study aims to explore the level of entrepreneurial intentions (EIs) among students in three private universities in Bahrain. The examined factors that are expected to shape EI are personal attraction toward becoming an entrepreneur, perceived behavioral control and subjective norms and social valuation of entrepreneurship. Design/methodology/approach A close-ended questionnaire was used to collect data of the study. The total number of questionnaires distributed was 1,530 questionnaires, while the total number of the valid questionnaires retrieved was 550, which makes the total response rate to be 36 per cent. Findings Regression analysis results indicated that students’ personal attraction toward entrepreneurship and perceived behavioral control had a significant strong positive relationship with their EI. In addition, there was a significant moderate positive relationship between students’ perceived subjective norms and social valuation of entrepreneurship with their EI. Originality/value The findings showed that entrepreneurial education is needed to improve students’ skills and knowledge and enhance their EI and perceived behavioral control. In addition, it is important to expose students to entrepreneurial role models and their businesses and to promote entrepreneurial careers as desirable and feasible options that may bring more advantages than working in the government or private sector.

Research with the theory of planned behavior (TPB) has typically treated attitude (ATT), subjective norm (SN), and perceived behavioral control (PBC) as independent predictors of intention (INT). However, theoretically, PBC moderates the effects of ATT and SN on intention. In three studies dealing with different behaviors (voting, reducing household waste, and energy consumption) we show that greater PBC tends to strengthen the relative importance of ATT in the prediction of intention, whereas it tends to weaken the relative importance of SN. The latter pattern was observed in relation to injunctive as well as descriptive subjective norms, and it may help explain the relatively weak relation between SN and INT frequently observed in TPB studies.

This study utilizes the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) variables—including “attitude,” “subjective norms,” and “perceived behavioral control”—to understand the relationship between mask-wearing behavior and physical/non-physical leisure activity participation in Koreans as well as the tendencies behind mask-wearing intentions within leisure activities. The measurement tools used attitude, subjective norms, control, and mask use intention factors based on the TPB. Overall, 545 individuals participated, and the non-overlapping regions, sex, and age were considered through the stratified sampling method. The survey was conducted online owing to COVID-19, and collected data were derived through descriptive and multiple linear regression analyses. First, a difference in mask-wearing intention based on physical and non-physical leisure activities was identified; second, attitudes and perceived behaviors were considered in light of the dangers posed by COVID-19. It was found that control influences the tendency of intention to wear a mask depending on whether the group was engaged in physical or non-physical activity. Therefore, it can be stated that mask-wearing must be mandatory during physical and non-physical activities owing to respiratory diseases such as COVID-19. It is also important to simultaneously promote a positive attitude toward mask-wearing to enable people to believe that they can stay in full control of their own health.

Abstract Background: Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and Western medicine are available and have a long history in Hong Kong. Little is known on the intention to use TCM in Hong Kong. In this study, the intention to use TCM were examined by the extended theory of planned behavior.Methods: An online cross-sectional survey was conducted from 15 and 29 November 2021. Respondents’ attitude towards using TCM, intention to use TCM, knowledge, perceived behavioral control, perceived service quality, satisfaction, subjective norms and demographic characteristics were collected from the survey. To examine the conceptual framework in this study, partial least square structural equation model (PLS-SEM) was adopted.Results: In total, 446 responses (completion rate = 74.3%) were analysed. Attitude towards TCM was the strongest predictor to the intention to use TCM followed by satisfaction and subjective norms. Attitude had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between subjective norms, perceived behavioral control and intention to use TCM. Attitude had a full mediating effect on the relationship between knowledge and intention to use TCM. Satisfaction had a full mediating effect on the relationship between perceived service quality and intention to use TCM.Conclusions: This is the first study to investigate the predictors of the intention to use TCM in Hong Kong by using TPB. Individuals’ attitude towards TCM has showed stronger effect to the intention to use TCM than other predictors, such as satisfaction, perceived behavioral control and subjective norms. To enhance the intention to use TCM in Hong Kong, key stakeholders, including TCM professional organisations, health professionals and policymakers, should develop a positive attitude towards TCM among Hong Kong population.

ABSTRACT  LinkAja provide advanced feature such as cash back promotion and discount, and has linked with more than 130.000 merchants, these features can influence perceived behavioral control, attitude, and subjective norm, and however in 2019 there was a decrease in the number of LinkAja users. The purpose of this research was to determine the influence of perceived behavioral control, attitudes, and subjective norms on the decision to use LinkAja. This research used primary data obtained by distributing questionnaire to 100 respondents who were LinkAja users. The data analysis which used in this research are Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Multiple Linear Regression Analysis with SPSS version 26. The results indicate that there is an influence of perceived behavioral control, attitudes, and subjective norms partially have a positive effect on decision to use LinkAja. Simultaneous test results show that perceived behavioral control, attitude, and subjective norm have a positive effect on decision to use LinkAja which is with completeness of features, completeness of information, promotion like cashback and discounts provided by LinkAja dominantly could influence someone decision to use, therefore the expected planned behavior can be realized that is a transformation on transaction habits from cash basis to cashless.     Keywords Perceived Behavioral Control, Attitude, Subjective Norm, Decision to Use   ABSTRAK LinkAja telah memberikan fitur yang lebih lengkap, promo berupa cashback dan discount, serta telah bekerjasama dengan lebih dari 130.000 merchant dimana hal ini dapat mempengaruhi perceived behavioral control, attitude, dan subjective norm seseorang, namun pada tahun 2019 terjadi jumlah penurunan jumlah pengguna LinkAja. Penelitian ini menggunakan data primer yang diperoleh dengan menyebarkan kuesioner kepada 100 repsonden yang merupakan pengguna LinkAja. Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) dan analisis regresi liniear berganda menggunakan SPSS versi 26. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa variabel perceived behavioral control, attitude, dan subjective norm secara parsial berpengaruh terhadap keputusan penggunaan LinkAja. Hasil uji simultan menunjukkan bahwa perceived behavioral control, attitude, dan subjective norm berpengaruh positif terhadap keputusan penggunaan LinkAja dimana dengan kelengkapan fitur, kelengkapan informasi, promo berupa cashback dan discount yang diberikan oleh LinkAja dapat mempengaruhi keputusan penggunaan seseorang untuk menggunakannya, sehingga planned behavior yang diharapkan dapat terwujud yaitu mengubah perilaku transaksi dari cash basis menjadi cashless.   Kata Kunci: Perceived Behavioral Control, Attitude, Subjective Norm, Keputusan Penggunaan

The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the attitude toward the behavior (ATB) of using the tray set green product to the intention of using the tray-set green product, to analyze the relationship between the subjective norms (SN) to the intention of using the tray-set green product, to analyze the relationship between the perceived behavioral control (PBC) to the intention of using the tray-set green product, to analyze the consumers’ attitudes toward the preferences of the desired attributes of the tray-set green product and to formulate the managerial implications which can be applied by PT Garuda Indonesia.  The data collection was conducted in July – August 2012. Data was collected from 200 respondents who had used the services of PT Garuda Indonesia. Descriptive, Konjoint, and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to analyze the relationship between ATB, SN and PBC to the interest of using tray-set green product. The result of the study indicated that the attitude Toward Behavior, Subjective norms, perceive behavioral control had significant value to the interest. The attributive preferences desired from the tray-set green product are stronger materials, eco-friendly packaging and interesting shapes. The result of this study recommended that to improve the marketing mix strategies to enhance the passengers’ interest in using tray-set green product.

IPV screening in healthcare settings is an effective secondary prevention strategy for IPV that can reduce negative consequences IPV survivors may experience. However, healthcare providers have not tended to screen patients or women who may experience IPV. Additionally, the curriculums of health professionals' students, particularly in the nursing curriculum, do not adequately prepare future healthcare providers for IPV screening. However, little research has addressed IPV screening or barriers to such screening regarding healthcare providers in global, particularly Thailand. This study was to examine the attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral controls of senior Thai nursing students to manage IPV and intention to perform of IPV screening. In addition, it also was to explore the perceptions of IPV screening in nursing education among senior-nursing students and nurse educators in Thailand. The Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), which is a strong theory to predict intentional behavior, was used in this study as a theoretical framework. This study was conducted a mixed-methods, with primary data collection involving online surveys and focus groups with senior nursing students in Thailand and individual interviews with Thai nurse educators. The quantitative study was recruited by nursing students who were in the last years of nursing program and passed at least one nursing clinical practice course. The qualitative study, there were nursing students and nurse educators. The inclusion criteria were: nursing students who were in the last year of their nursing program and passed at least one nursing clinical practicum course: nurse educators who have at least ten years of experience in education and live in a province in Northeast Thailand. Nursing students who were studying in their first, second, and third year, and did not pass any nursing clinical practicum were excluded. Nurse educators who have less than ten years' experience were not recruited. The instruments of screening were developed by using attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral controls. There were 36 relevant items on a 5 Likert scales. The instruments were developed by previous studies and five experts. Two bilinguals experienced IPV experts did the forward-translation of the original English versions of the instruments into Thai. Institutional Review Board (IRB) was approval from University of Missouri and one of Boromarajonnani Colleges of Nursing in Northeast Thailand with waiver of documentation of consent. Analysis data as percentages, frequency, and standard deviation were described demographic data and attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and intention of IPV screening. Bivariate relationship as Spearman's Rho, Chi-square correlation, and Logistic regression were used to identify relationships between the variables. Content analysis with the Dedoose program was used. Categories were described. Totally 639 participants with nearly 60% have ever trained regarding IPV and 89.84% of participants has intended of screening. There was a medium positively significant correlation between the attitude, subjective norm, perceive behavioral control and intention (r = 0.43-0.46). Gender, GPA, experienced of IPV training, having screening tool at the clinical site, have seen screening, experienced of screening, experienced abused, and experienced family abused were significantly associated with intention of screening, but number hours of training was not associated. Mediation was tested and attitude and subjective norm were mediators of the relationship between having a tool at clinical site and intention to screen, but perceived behavioral control was not a mediator. Moreover, attitude and subjective norm were predicted intention by 33%. The findings from qualitative research explained that participants perceived that IPV is a critical issue in Thailand, but it is difficult to identify because of the cultural consideration. Participants feel not well-prepared by school in terms of knowledge and training experience. Nurse educators also feel not confident in supervising. Addressing IPV into the nursing curriculum was highly recommended. This study is the first study to specifically explore the perceptions of IPV in nursing education in Thailand. The findings contribute to improving the nursing curriculum regarding IPV. More research is related to prepare nursing students to deal with IPV issue would be required.

The purpose of this study was to use the constructs of the theory of planned behavior (TPB) to gain a better understanding of the factors influencing older adults’ participation in strength training. Two hundred men and women age 55 years and older were purposely sampled from seniors’ centers in Ontario Canada. Participants completed a TPB questionnaire and reported their current physical activity participation. It was hypothesized that perceived behavioral control followed by attitude would be the strongest determinants of strength-training intentions and that intention would be the strongest determinant of strength-training behavior. Regression analyses revealed that subjective norm and perceived behavioral control explained 42% of the variance in intention and intention explained 40% of the variance in behavior. Gender and current strength-training participation did not significantly moderate the relationship between the TPB variables. The results suggest that interventions targeting subjective norm and perceived control might be helpful in promoting strength-training behavior among older adults.
