The commercial banks need to identify the sources of the several financial risks which emanates from financial innovations, as they may affect the banks’ stability. This study sought to determine the influence of financial innovations on level of risks in commercial banks in Kenya. The specific objectives were to determine the relationship between internet banking and financial risks in commercial banks in Kenya; to explore the relationship between mobile banking and financial risks in commercial banks in Kenya; to establish the relationship between agency banking and financial risks in commercial banks in Kenya; and to determine the relationship between electronic cards and financial risks in commercial banks in Kenya. The study adopted a descriptive research design. The target population was all the 42 commercial banks registered with CBK as at December 31st 2016. The unit of observation will be the risk management managers. This was a census study. The study collected both primary data and secondary data. Primary datawas collected from the respondents through a uestionnaire while secondary data was collected from the financial statements. Prior to the actual data collection, the questionnaire was tested for reliability and validity. The collected data was analyzed through descriptive statistics and inferential statistics through aid of SPSS software Version 21. The inferential statistics entailed use of a multivariate regression analysis to establish the relationship between the variables and test hypothesis. The analyzed data was presented using of tables, charts and graphs.

Commercial banks in Kenya have embraced alternative banking channels which represent a shift in delivery of banking and financial services since the alternative banking have become synonymous with commercial banks in Kenya. While banks have succeeded in leveraging available technology and provide alternative avenues to customers for banking services, the challenge it faces today is optimizing the usage of these channels so as to improve on their performance. The general objective of this study was to investigate the effects of financial innovations on the performance of commercial banks in Kenya. The specific objectives of the study were to examine the influence of internet banking, mobile banking, agency banking and ATM banking on the performance of commercial banks in Kenya. The study was guided by agency theory, balanced score card and diffusion of innovation theory. This study employed a descriptive research design. The study targeted44 commercial banks in Kenya as at 2017. The 16 banks which embrace all the four financial innovations from 2013 to 2017were selected using purposive sampling method. The sample size was 80 respondents who comprised of 5 senior management employees in each of the selected banks.This study used questionnaire to collect primary data from the respondents. Content analysis technique was used to analyze qualitative data collected from open ended questions in and reported in narrative form. Descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation were used to analyse the quantitative data. Multiple regression analysis was used to show the relationship between independent variables against dependent variable. The study revealed that internet banking, mobile banking, agency banking and ATM banking had a positive and significant effect on the performance of commercial banks. Thisstudy concludes that the banking industry has benefited tremendously from the development of the Internet. The Internet fundamentally changed the way in which banking networks are designed to meet the client demands and expectations. Mobile banking provides a good opportunity to commercial banks in Kenya to reach many mobile phone subscribers in Kenya who had remained unbanked and unreached due to limited access to bank branch networks in the country. The access to the large masses through mobile banking of the population gives banks the opportunity to grow by reaching the unbanked population. Agency banking has led to accessibility of financial service to many customer in remote areas and hence an increase in effectiveness and efficiency in service delivery. Customers are satisfied with the automated teller machine services because of ease of use, transaction cost and service security but not satisfy with automated teller machine dispense of cash. The study recommends that the public and businesses must be encouraged to use Internet banking in their daily activities, including deposits, payments and money transfers. Commercial banks in Kenya should ensure convenience and security of mobile banking through written guidelines on convenience and security of mobile banking. Commercial banks in Kenya should increase the number of agents in estates and in the rural areas. This can be done by reducing the requirements of becoming a bank agent. The banks should employ customized software that records relevant information on automated teller machine cards so that banks can establish whether unauthorized transaction has taken place or not.

The objective of this study was to establish the effect of product /service innovations on the financial performance of commercial banks in Kenya. The 40 commercial banks was the population of this study which were in operation in Kenya as at December, 2017. Both primary and secondary data were used in the study. Explanatory research design was used. Questionnaires were used to gather primary data. Secondary data was collected from Central Bank annual report to validate communicative and validity of primary data. Quantitative analysis in the research was facilitated by Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), the completed questionnaires was examined and the information for each item was further processed and analysed. The results obtained was further presented in charts and tables. Regression and correlation analysis were used to study the relationship between the dependent and the independent variables of the study. These were employed to analyze the data and find out whether financial performance of commercial banks was influenced by banks innovations. The results showed that most commercial banks have concentrated on their profits by creating new products and services which have minimized their operational costs. This study used Cronbach Alpha test of internal consistency to analyze the accuracy of the research tool based on pilot data.  The study recommended that banks should consider incorporating the new technology as it will increase the firms’ performance and to ensure their new products and services, are readily available in the market. The study recommended that the banking sector ought to continue investing on more innovative delivery channels since this improves banks capability to regulate expenditure. These will in turn, facilitates reduction in cost in every unit of service thus improved return on assets to financial institutions effective monitoring of accounting and auditing. Financial institutions should ensure that the banking innovations are well secured for customers to have confidence in using mobile banking and internet banking.

Methods: The study used descriptive research design and structured questionnaires to collect data.The target population was all the 41 commercial banks in Nairobi. The sampling design was census where general managers and credit managers were targeted in Nairobi headquarters. The source of data was primary and secondary data; Primary data was collected from source through questionnaires while secondary data was sourced from annual central bank reports, bank financial statements as well as periodical journals and reports. Results: The findings of the study has indicated that most of the respondents had served the banking industry for a period of at least five years and education level of at least a college diploma.  The study also rejected all the null hypotheses and concluded that electronic banking has positive effect on financial performance of commercial banks.  The study has contributed to knowledge through provision of scholarly literature on electronic banking and financial performance of commercial banks in Kenya. Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: The study’s recommendation to management is to implement strategies which: increase Speed in Electronic Services, increase investments in Electronic banking,  promote training programs to employees and adopt suitable techniques to reduce  threats to e-banking.  The study’s recommendation is that a similar research should be conducted with a moderating or mediating variable in the same industry.

This research examined bankers’ perceptions of environmental sources of financial risks and its impact on commercial banks in Ghana. Primary data was collected from a purposive sample of ninety-six (96) middle–level bank managers using structured questionnaires. Time series secondary data on banking performance (denoted as ROA and ROE) and stability (denoted as CAR and NPLR) and growth of five major industrial businesses (including agriculture, mining, construction, manufacturing, and trade) as the environmental sources of financial risks, for a period of 13 years (2006-2018) was further obtained for analysis. Data was analyzed using the sample t-test and the multivariate dynamic panel regression model. The results show that, in bank lending, mining was perceived to be the topmost source of indirect environmental risk (credit and reputational risks), while agriculture was perceived to be the leading source of direct environmental risk (business risk). We found that perceptions of environmental sources of financial risk by mangers of locally owned banks differed from that of foreign owned banks. Growth of mining, trade and manufacturing positively influenced banking performance while the growth of construction and agriculture negatively influence banking stability. The study thus provides supportive evidence that commercial banks require set standards that guide clients’ business towards environmental sustainability

This study evaluated the relationship between financial innovation and financial intermediation in Nigeria. It seems that banks in Nigeria may have a problem of deposit-loan mismatch and losing customers to start-ups given increasing cost of deposits attributable to disruptive practice arising from financial innovations. The specific objectives of this study were to examine the relationship between financial innovation (value of the automated teller machine, internet banking, mobile banking, point of sale transactions) and financial intermediation (commercial banks deposit mobilization) in Nigeria for the period 2009–2018. This study was anchored on the financial innovation theory of Joseph Schumpeter, which states that technology creates opportunities for new profits and super profits as a result of increased investment by banks or financial institutions on products of innovation. The ordinary least square was used to estimate the parameters. The data used were extracted from the Central Bank of Nigeria statistical bulletin. The results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between financial innovation (value of Automated Teller Machine) and financial intermediation (commercial banks deposit mobilization) in Nigeria; there is a positive but no significant relationship between financial innovation (internet banking) and financial intermediation (commercial banks deposit mobilization) in Nigeria; there is a positive but no significant relationship between financial innovation (mobile banking) and financial intermediation (commercial banks deposit mobilization) in Nigeria; and there is no positive and significant relationship between financial innovation (point of sale transactions) and financial intermediation (commercial banks deposit mobilization) in Nigeria. The f-test result showed that financial innovations proxies jointly related significantly to commercial banks’ deposits. The work concludes that financial innovations contributed to commercial banks’ deposits in Nigeria. The researchers recommended among others that banks should improve on the security of transactions done on their platforms, continue to improve and partner with start-ups in technological infrastructure, improve on power and network stability, deploy more innovative products, and improve on the efficiency of bank staff by regular training.

Purpose: The study sought to investigate the effect of financial innovations on financial performance of commercial banks in Kenya. The main problem was that there is an increase in the number of financial innovations, but whether the innovations in banking industry are the main determinants of financial performance is a hard to tell. Despite the significance of financial innovation, the effect of innovation on financial performance is still misunderstood.Methodology: The study adopted an explanatory research design. The population of the study was all the 43 commercial banks operating in Kenya in the study period. The study conducted a census on all the 43 commercial banks. The study used primary data. An ordinary linear regression model was used. The regressions were conducted using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) version 20.Results: The study findings indicated that there is a negative and significant relationship between product innovation and ROA. The relationship between service innovation and ROA and also organizational innovation and ROA was found to be positive and significant. Based on the findings, the study concluded that commercial banks in Kenya in the study period had unsteady trends in ROA despite the fact that more financial innovations were taking place in the sector. The study also concluded that the relationship between product innovation and financial performance of commercial banks is negative and significant. Based on the study findings, the study also concluded that the relationship between service innovation and ROA and also organizational innovation and ROA is positive and significant.Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy: The study recommended that Commercial banks should implement effective product innovation strategies that won’t increase their operational risks which in turn affects their financial performance. The study also recommended that commercial banks should focus more and invest more in both service and organization innovation as the two will lead to better financial performance.

The banking sector in Kenya suffered increased non-performing credits which prompted collapse of certain banks with an upsurge of loan defaulters. This was mainly attributed to the continued information asymmetry in the industry because of absence of a credit data sharing component. Commercial banks in Kenya have continued to encounter a number of challenges in obtaining information on customers’ payment history that helps guide on determining their ability to access and re-pay loan advancements. This has made more commercial banks to subscribe to credit reference bureaus since its establishment in 2008. As a result, commercial banks in Kenya have been experiencing high rates of Non-Performing Loans advanced to customers. The general objective of the study was to determine the effect of credit information sharing practices on financial performance of commercial bank in Kenya. The study specific objectives were to determine the effect of information accuracy, volume of lending and customer credit reports on financial performance of commercial bank in Kenya. The study was anchored by adverse selection theory, moral hazard theory and asymmetry theory. The researcher used a descriptive research design. The target population was five banks within Nairobi County including KCB, Equity Bank, Family Bank, Cooperative Bank and Barclays Bank. Primary data was collected using questionnaires and secondary data using financial statements of the commercial banks performance for the past 5 years. Data was analysed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The study found that information accuracy, volume of lending and customer credit reports were positively and significantly related to the financial performance of the commercial banks. The study concludes that information accuracy increases the banks ' understanding of the applicants’ features and allows a more precise forecast of their probabilities of repayment, it decreases the information rents that banks could otherwise obtain from their clients and it can function as a borrower discipline tool. Lending volume enhances business banks ' enhanced operations, which in turn leads to banks’ enhanced economic results. Sharing of credit information has made commercial banks grant more loans on the basis of their reputation to deserving clients, thereby improving their profitability. When extensive consumer credit history information are easily accessible, it considerably decreases the cost of entering loan markets for fresh lenders, enhances competition and lowers credit rates. The research recommends that for enhanced results, all financial institutions in Kenya need to protect the precision of their platforms for data sharing. Regular site visits should offer credibility to the precision of the borrowers’ data. The data supplied by CRB should be used efficiently by commercial banks to lend to prospective borrowers. Only borrowers with a strong history of credit should be permitted access to the loans. The research also proposes that Kenya's commercial banks should base credit awards on the borrowers’ reputational assets, ensuring that the loan default rate is small, thus enhancing commercial bank performance.

Recent studies have documented that innovations improve profitability of firms. This article documents that deposit taking micro financial institutions that have adopted financial innovations have increased their profitability. The study covered five years between 2009-2013. Both primary and secondary data were used in the study. Primary data was obtained through administration of drop and pick questionnaires to selected employees of the institutions. Secondary data was obtained from financial statements and management reports of these deposit taking microfinance institutions. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, return on asset and multi-liner regression model to determine the effect of each financial innovation applied on profitability on the micro-financial institution. The results showed that most deposit taking microfinance institutions adopted these financial innovations in their current operations. There was strong positive relationship between individual innovations and profitability. In line with profitability ROA also showed improvement each year after the adoption of these financial innovations.

Objective of this research; 1) determine the perception of ranchers against the properties and behavior of the leadership of the companion in the Society of Al-Awwaliyah 2) analyze the relationship between productivity breeder with productivity of livestock in the Society of Al-Awwaliyah 3) identify the relationship perceptions of ranchers against the leadership companion with productivity of livestock in the Society of Al-Awwaliyah , The data used in this study are primary and secondary data. Primary data were obtained from questionnaires which stem from ranchers while secondary data sourced from literature in the form of books and articles. Data processing was performed using Chi-square analysis using SPSS software version 21. One of the factors relating to the productivity of ranchers is the perception of ranchers against the leadership of their companion. Leadership companion views of the nature and behavior of which is owned by a companion. Productivity ranchers indirectly related to the productivity of the cattle business. Characteristics breeder visits of age, years of education, experience ranchers, and businesses in addition to ranchers. The results of data analysis showed that there is a significant relationship between business other than ranchers with ranchers productivity. The relationship between the perception of the nature of the companion breeder with productivity ranchers produce Pearson Chi-Square value is 9.751 and Asymp. Sig. (2-sided) of 0.002. This is due to interest ranchers against leadership qualities possessed by a companion who produce prolific ranchers. Ranchers consider that a companion of his leadership qualities are ideal as a companion.

This study examines coffee shops’ marketing mix and its impact on customer satisfaction and word of mouth (WOM). Also, analyzing customer satisfaction mediates the relationship between the marketing mix and word of mouth. This study used a quantitative approach with 100 sampling of coffee shop’s customers across Malang City. Primary data collection is done by distributing questioner containing several questions using a Likert scale to the respondents, while secondary data is obtained from literature studies. For analyzing the data, this study applied descriptive analysis and statistical analysis employed WarpPLS 7.0 software to perform the Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) analysis. This study proves that marketing mix has a positive and significant effect on customer satisfaction, and the same relationship was found between the marketing mix and WOM. An important finding from this study is that customer satisfaction plays a mediating role between marketing mix and word of mouth.
