This research is motivated by the fact that corn seeds in storage are often characterized with low seed viability and infected by diseases so that the seeds grow abnormally and even die. Corn seeds have thick/hard cell walls. It is acknowledged that the corn seed walls contain cellulose, which can be broken down by microorganisms. One such microorganism is the Trichoderma fungus, which is also a biological agent. This study aims to analyze the effect of the biological agents Trichoderma sp. on corn seed germination and identify the best concentration of Trichoderma sp. against corn seed germination. The corn seeds used in this study were locally grown, which had been stored for 6 months. The seed coating (bio seed coating of local corn) was tested at several concentrations of Trichoderma sp. (treatment), namely without treatment (control), 5g, 10g, 15g, and 20g. Each concentration was repeated 4 times, using several parameters to analyze normal sprouts and germination capacity. The analysis results confirmed the potential of Thrichoderma biological agents on corn seed germination. The T1 treatment with 5g Trichoderma biological agents significantly improve corn seed germination.

This study was conducted to evaluate the biocontrol potential of Trichoderma sp., and vermicompost on the management of Sclerotium rolfsii and chilli plant growth under peatlands agro-climatic conditions. The research was conducted under the laboratory as well field condition of Palangka Raya University in a completely randomized factorial design. As a treatment, four doses of Trichoderma sp. i.e. 0, 5, 10, and 15 g/box, and three doses of Vermicompost i.e. 0, 100, and 200g/ box was used individually and in combination and each treatment have three replications. Three kilograms of sterilized peat soil planting media were placed in the 36 plastic boxes and Trichoderma sp., and vermicompost was applied 1 week before the chilli seeds are planted. After 10 weeks of plantations, observations related to the disease intensity and chilli growth and yield were recorded. The results of the study revealed a synergistic effect of Trichoderma sp. and vermicompost combination in controlling the stem rot disease caused by S. rolfsii. Individual and combined application of Trichoderma and vermicompost had an effective range of 73.33-100% over the control. Further, among the various tested treatments, a combination of Trichoderma sp @ 5g/box with vermicompost @ 200g/box and individual application of Trichoderma sp @ 10g/box were found superior in the management of stem rot disease. In the case of chilli growth parameters, the results of the study suggested that the application of vermicompost had a significant effect on the chilli plant's growth and yield, while the application of Trichoderma sp. significantly affects the chilli plants number of leaves.

Effect of nitrogen and bio-fertilizer on growth and productivity of hybrid rice (cv. PHB 71) was assessed during dry seasons of 2017 and 2018 at Research Farm of BCKV under new alluvial zone of West Bengal. The experiment was laid out in factorial randomized block design with 12 treatment combinations having 4 levels of N and 3 types of bio-fertilizer replicated thrice. Application at 180 kg N/ha produced tallest plants at 90 DAT with maximum LAI (60 DAT), DMA (90 DAT), tillers/hill (90 DAT) and CGR (30-60 & 60-90 DAT). The same N rate resulted in highest panicles/m2, panicle length, panicle weight, filled grains/panicle and 1000-grain weight. A decrease in N dose from 180 to 150 kg/ha caused reduction in all those yield components; however, the variation was non-significant except for number of panicles/m2. Maximum grain yield, straw yield and harvest index was also achieved with 180 kg N/ha accounting 120.1, 34.9 and 32.8% more than the values obtained with zero-N; however, it was statistically at par with the yields and HI obtained with 150 kg N/ha. The Azospirillum application increased all the growth parameters, yield components and yield of hybrid rice over other tested bio-fertilizers (Azospirillum > PSB > K mobilizer), accounting 5.9 and 8.8% more than the yields obtained with PSB and K mobilizer. The interaction of N and bio-fertilizer exerted significant effect on growth attributes but failed to record any significant variations in yield components and yield of hybrid rice. The maximum economic benefit was achieved with combined application of 180 kg N/ha and Azospirillum.
