Recently, in computer vision and video surveillance applications, moving object recognition and tracking have become more popular and are hard research issues. When an item is left unattended in a video surveillance system for an extended period of time, it is considered abandoned. Detecting abandoned or removed things from complex surveillance recordings is challenging owing to various variables, including occlusion, rapid illumination changes, and so forth. Background subtraction used in conjunction with object tracking are often used in an automated abandoned item identification system, to check for certain pre-set patterns of activity that occur when an item is abandoned. An upgraded form of image processing is used in the preprocessing stage to remove foreground items. In subsequent frames with extended duration periods, static items are recognized by utilizing the contour characteristics of foreground objects. The edge-based object identification approach is used to classify the identified static items into human and nonhuman things. An alert is activated at a specific distance from the item, depending on the analysis of the stationary object. There is evidence that the suggested system has a fast reaction time and is useful for monitoring in real time. The aim of this study is to discover abandoned items in public settings in a timely manner.

Background: Magnetic Resonance Imaging is most widely used for early diagnosis of abnormalities in human organs. Due to the technical advancement in digital image processing, automatic computer aided medical image segmentation has been widely used in medical diagnostics. </P><P> Discussion: Image segmentation is an image processing technique which is used for extracting image features, searching and mining the medical image records for better and accurate medical diagnostics. Commonly used segmentation techniques are threshold based image segmentation, clustering based image segmentation, edge based image segmentation, region based image segmentation, atlas based image segmentation, and artificial neural network based image segmentation. Conclusion: This survey aims at providing an insight about different 2-Dimensional and 3- Dimensional MRI image segmentation techniques and to facilitate better understanding to the people who are new in this field. This comparative study summarizes the benefits and limitations of various segmentation techniques.

Nondestructive testing (NDT) is an important tool in the world of industry. Among different NDT methods, radiography plays a very interesting role both in industry and medicine. Medical and industrial uses of X and gamma rays were recognized since more than 1 century ago. One of the interesting uses of radiography is in archeological and art applications. In this research, radiography was utilized for identification of a damaged art-historical material. The subject is a brass tray belonging to Iran cultural heritage with an estimated age of about 3500 years. The tray was found in Lorestan province and referred to as “Lorestan bonze”. The object was damaged seriously due to heavy corrosion attack. Therefore recognition of the object was a major problem. Normal radiography method can help for object determination, but it suffers some major drawbacks related to contrast and thickness measurement. Image processing technique and a precise thickness measurement method were added to digitized radiographs. A precise radiographic thickness method was introduced and used before for the pipeline radiography. For digital image processing, Canny edge detection method and Gaussian filter were used. Radiography image obtained from this work showed a very clear picture of the original trace of hammered design. These results showed that a combination of radiography, image processing techniques and consideration of physical principles of radiation interaction with materials can produce a very clear image which can be used effectively for hte detail analysis of cultural heritages.

There are three types of paddy leaf disease that have similar symptoms, making it difficult for farmers to identify them, namely Blast Disease, Brown-Spot Disease, and Narrow Brown-Spot Disease. This paper aims to develop an application to identify paddy leaf disease automatically. Several important aspects of the development of software engineering such as usability, interactivity, and simplicity have been considered. Image processing techniques, namely Blobs analysis and color segmentation are used to get the characteristics of diseased leaf; these characteristics are then used to identify the type of diseases using a rule-based expert system. The results obtained indicate that the developed system recognition capability is considered satisfactory with an accuracy of 94.7%.

One of the advantages of scanning electron microscopy is the capability for processing the image contrast, i.e., the image processing technique. Crewe et al were the first to apply this technique to a field emission scanning microscope and show images of individual atoms. They obtained a contrast which depended exclusively on the atomic numbers of specimen elements (Zcontrast), by displaying the images treated with the intensity ratio of elastically scattered to inelastically scattered electrons. The elastic scattering electrons were extracted by a solid detector and inelastic scattering electrons by an energy analyzer. We noted, however, that there is a possibility of the same contrast being obtained only by using an annular-type solid detector consisting of multiple concentric detector elements.

Image processing technique in general, involves the application of signal processing on the input image for isolating the individual color plane of an image. It plays an important role in the image analysis and computer version. This paper compares the efficiency of two approaches in the area of finding breast cancer in medical image processing. The fundamental target is to apply an image mining in the area of medical image handling utilizing grouping guideline created by genetic algorithm. The parameter using extracted border, the border pixels are considered as population strings to genetic algorithm and Ant Colony Optimization, to find out the optimum value from the border pixels. We likewise look at cost of ACO and GA also, endeavors to discover which one gives the better solution to identify an affected area in medical image based on computational time.

In earlier times fruits were sorted manually and it was very time consuming and laborious task. Human sorted the fruits of the basis of shape, size and color. Time taken by human to sort the fruits is very large therefore to reduce the time and to increase the accuracy, an automatic classification of fruits comes into existence.To improve this human inspection and reduce time required for fruit sorting an advance technique is developed that accepts information about fruits from their images, and is called as Image Processing Technique.
