The results of the extraction of thiophene, dibenzothiophene, diphenylamine, indole, carbazole, fluoranthene and pyrene from model mixtures with n-undecane, as well as thiophene from a mixture with n-heptane at a content of the extractable component in the binary system of 10% wt. are presented. A mixed solvent N-methylpyrrolidone - ethylene glycol with the composition of 90/10% wt. at 25 °C was used for the extraction. The experimental data obtained were compared with the results of the extraction of the same components from model mixtures with n-undecane by pure N-methylpyrrolidone

With advancement of nanoscience, ?nanofluids? are becoming quite popular among thermal engineers. High thermal conductivity, relatively less settling speed, and higher surface area of nanoparticles are a few key promoting properties. The last two decades have seen dramatic progress towards using nanoparticles in industrial applications. However, the stability and rheological characteristics of prepared nanofluids have serious effects on their transport characteristics, but unfortunately, this has not found proper attention from researchers. In this study, stability and rheological characteristics of ZnO nanoparticles within deionized water, ethylene glycol, and their blends have been extensively tested. Stability was observed using UV-vis spectroscopy, while the viscosity was measured with the help of a rheometer. The data was collected with 0.011-0.044 wt. % loading of nanoparticles, while experiments were conducted within 15-55oC temperature range. Better stability was recorded when nanofluids were prepared with pure ethylene glycol. Experiments showed that the viscosity increased with particle loading, whereas the effect of surfactants appeared to be insignificant. Research results were used to assess predictions of different viscosity models. Experimental data was overpredicted by Einstein, Brinkman, and Batchelor?s models.

Abstract One of the main steps in choosing the drug nanoparticle production processes by supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) is determining the solubility of the solid solute. For this purpose, the solubility of Ketoconazole (KTZ) in the SC-CO2, binary system, as well as in the SC-CO2-menthol (cosolvent), ternary system, was measured at 308–338 K and 12–30 MPa using the static analysis method. The KTZ solubility in the SC-CO2 ranged between 1.70×10− 6 and 8.02×10− 4, while drug solubility in the SC-CO2 with cosolvent varied from 2.7×10− 5 to 1.96×10− 4. This difference indicated the significant effect of menthol cosolvent on KTZ solubility in the SC-CO2. Moreover, KTZ solubilities in the two systems were correlated by several empirical and semiempirical models. Among them, Sodeifian et al., Bian et al., MST, and Bartle et al. models can more accurately correlate experimental data for the binary system than other used models. Also, the Sodeifian and Sajadian model well fitted the solubility data of the ternary system with AARD,%= 6.45, Radj= 0.995.

Cryogenic wormlike micellar solutions with a freezing point far below 0 °C and unique rheological behavior are fabricated from the self-assembly of a C22-tailed zwitterionic surfactant in a mixed solvent of ethylene glycol and water. Such fluids could find applications in areas where viscoelasticity is highly desired at subfreezing temperatures.

This paper reports propertiesdata at 20, 25 and 30 0C and 1 atmosphere pressure for diethylene glycol dibutyl ether - ethanol system depending on concentration. The experimental values of density and viscosities of pure components and mixtures were correlated with temperature. The excess properties were determined from experimental data of densities and viscosities. These excess values were correlated to Hwang and Redlich-Kister equations. The value of excess molar volume for equimolar solution was compared with the values calculated from the Flory and Prigogine-Flory-Patterson theories.
