In the times of economic instability in most developed countries, a decrease is experienced in the effectiveness of many large public corporations. Such corporations are facing high expenditures (transaction costs mostly) and extremely low return on invested capital. Medium-sized businesses, on the contrary, prove to be more efficient: they show an acceptable level of profitability and total cost savings. The purpose of the present study is to calculate and analyse transaction costs of medium and large corporations and identify an impact of these costs on the performance of companies. Within the the framework of a neoinstitutional approach a complex of institutional factors influencing a company’s development is being explored. The efficiency of institutional forms is determined through studying such factors as transaction costs. In line with this theory, the transaction cost level of corporations is estimated, which enables one to make their comparative analysis in economic sectors. The analysis has revealed that the relative level of transaction costs with large corporations is two times higher than that in the event of middle ones. A comparative analysis of return on sales in two groups of companies has pointed to a fact that after 2010 the margin of middle-sized companies exceeded the profitability of large companies. The relationship between the level of transaction costs and return on sales in two groups of companies is being quantified as well. We have proved that middle-sized corporations have shown a direct relationship. On the contrary, transaction costs negatively affect profitability in large corporations.

A comparative analysis of the principles of the cadastre in the most developed countries and in Russia. It is shown that some of the principles of cadastre, it is advisable to introduce into the Russian legislation. Such principles include the principle of Renzenberger, as well as the principles of Ruoff and Kuranda. The Russian inventory has more than twenty years, however, it cannot be considered complete, as registered in cadastre only 60 % of real estate. Full filling of the cadastre information on real estate is possible, if we abandon the application of the principle of reference. Unlike foreign domestic inventory the inventory contains errors that complicate the procedure of registration of immovable property. In addition, the domestic inventory is not the only source of information about the property that causes the ambiguity of the information about the same object. Important is also that the damage caused inaccurate inventory information bona fide buyer or seller of real property under current law, does not exceed one million rubles, regardless of the value of the lost object. Foreign inventory recognizes the property owner the main participant of the changes, however, the Russian legislation allows for the adjustment of the information object without the application of the property owner. See principles of the foreign inventory is useful for the maintenance of the national cadastre. This will simplify the process of state cadastral accounting of real estate, reduce the time of its formation and to increase the reliability of materials of the Unified state register of real estate.

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to examine the factors influencing the transaction costs (TCs) in megaprojects to provide a basis for controlling project costs.Design/methodology/approachThis study selects six factors influencing the TCs in megaprojects from the perspective of TC theory and relational contract theory (RCT) through literature review. On the basis of crisp-set qualitative comparative analysis (QCA), this study tests combined factors influencing the TCs and the interaction between them.FindingsResults show that in megaprojects, TCs are affected by combination factors. The combination of asset specificity, uncertainty, transaction frequency and trust and the combination of asset specificity, reputation and trust will control TCs in certain situations. In the configuration leading to high project TCs, the combination of environmental and behavioral uncertainties is a necessary condition.Originality/valueThis paper fills up the research gap in the field of megaproject TCs, and researchers can focus on this field in the future.

The article is dedicated to the improving the methodical approach to the assessment of service competitiveness provided by service organizations. The author considers the concept of service competitiveness and quality, analyzes the scientific literature and existing methods for assessing competitiveness grouped into three groups. The article substantiates the use of the scale of pairwise comparisons and rating scales for determining the significance of characteristics, and gives result of their comparative analysis. The formulas for determining the importance of characteristics are given. The author offers to use marketing scales for the assessment of relationships, when surveying respondents. For example, the Likert scale, the semantic differential, the Stepel scale, and the graphic scales should be used for evaluating the qualitative indicators of services. The article gives the sequence of determining the relative level of each characteristic of the service in question in comparison with the selected basic service. A new element is the methodology of scaling norms proposed in the article, which makes it possible to evaluate the parameters of the service more accurately. The author makes the values of the characteristics of service competitiveness comparable in the normalization of scales. The purpose of rating scales is that the ranges of possible variation of each characteristic should be the same, and accordingly the change in each characteristic relative to the base services should be perceived equivalent. The article gives and justifies the computational formulas of the competitiveness coefficient by non-economic indicators or the service rating. The author offers estimation of economic parameters of service provided by company, and calculation of the competitiveness coefficient by economic indicators. The integral coefficient of competitiveness is given.
