This study was carried out during 2017 and 2018 seasons, in order to investigate the effect of single and combined application of potassium sulphate (K2SO4), ferrous sulphate (FeSO4) and boric acid (H3BO3) on fruit physical, chemical properties and maturation of Wonderful pomegranate trees grown in sandy soil under Minia Governorate conditions. Results showed that increasing the concentration of K2SO4 from 0.5 to 1.5%, FeSO4 from 100 to 200 ppm or/and H3BO3 was very effective in fruit weight (g). While, the three examined compounds significantly decreased fruit cracked (%) and fruit sunburned (%) during the two experimental season. Application of the three examined compounds together significantly surpassed than untreated control or each compound alone terms of improved fruit physical and chemical properties, while, juice total acidity was significantly decreased. For producing favorable fruit physical properties of Wonderful pomegranate grown under sandy soil, it is necessary to spray the trees with mixture of potassium sulphate at 1.5%, ferrous sulphate at 200 ppm and boric acid at 100 ppm three times yearly during the fruit growth cycle.

During 2017 and 2018 seasons, Wonderful pomegranate treated with potassium sulphate (K2SO4) and/or ferrous sulphate (FeSO4) and boric acid (H3BO3). The main object was examining the effect of these three compounds and their interaction on trees flowering, yield and leaf mineral content. Treating the trees three times with K2SO4, FeSO4and H3BO3 caused a remarkable stimulation on number of total and perfect flowers, compared with untreated control. Furthermore, treating the trees with K2SO4 and/or FeSO4& H3BO3 caused increasing yield (Kg/tree) and very effective in enhancing leaf N, P & K%. The combined application of the three compounds was superior than the single application of each compound on enhancing all flowering aspects and yield and improved leaves NPK. For enhancing flowering, crop of yields and leaf mineral contents (NPK) of Wonderful pomegranate, it is suggested to spray the trees with a mixture of K2SO4 and/or FeSO4 and H3BO3 three times yearly during the fruit growth cycle.

Mountain pepper (Litsea cubeba (Lour.) Persoon) is an important oil plant used as an ingredient in edible oil, cooking condiments, cosmetics, pesticides, and potential biofuels. Zinc and boron are essential micronutrients for plant growth. However, the effects of zinc and boron on the yield, yield component, oil content, and citral content in L. cubeba have not been determined. This study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of the foliar application of zinc, boron, and multiple micronutrients (zinc + boron) on the yield, yield component, oil content, and citral content of three varieties (Fuyang 1 (FY1), Jianou 2 (JO2), and Jianou 3 (JO3)) of L. cubeba. Zinc sulfate (0.25%), boric acid (0.25%), and zinc sulfate (0.25%) + boric acid (0.25%) were sprayed on selected trees at five different times at full bloom and 28 days before harvest, once every seven days. The results indicated that Zn had a negative effect on the yield, yield component, oil content, and citral content of the FY1, JO2, and JO3 varieties compared to the untreated trees. B had positive effects on the yield, yield component, oil content, and citral content of the JO2 and JO3 varieties but not on those of the FY1 variety when compared to the untreated trees. The highest levels of yield, yield component, oil content, and citral content for all three varieties were obtained with the combined application of zinc sulfate + boric acid. Hence, the foliar application of multiple micronutrients (zinc + boron) is an effective method to improve the yield, oil content, and citral content in L. cubeba. In addition, the 100-fruit weight (HFW) was positively correlated with the yield, oil content, and citral content and could be used as a tool to select new cultivars with high yield, high oil content, and high citral content under zinc sulfate, boric acid, and zinc sulfate + boric acid applications in L. cubeba.

Object: to study the physical and chemical properties of the lipoprotein complexes of rats` blood in the long-term administration of statins and vitamin D. Material and methods. The experiment was performed on 4 experimental groups of rats for 90 days: 1 - intact; 2 - placebo; 3 - intragastric administration of atorvastatin; 4 - intragastric administration of atorvastatin with α-calcidol. The lipoprotein blood complexes were isolated by the method of differential ultracentrifugation. The microflow and microviscosity of the lipoprotein complexes were determined using pyrene. Results. The placebo group revealed an increase of the micropolarity of the total lipid pool of VLDL and a decrease of the microviscosity of the annulary pool of LDL and HDL. The administration of atorvastatin reduces the microviscosity of HDL. The combined application of atorvastatin and α-calcidol reduces the microviscosity of HDL. Conclusion. We have drawn a conclusion about the complex effect of stress, atorvastatin, and α-calcidol on the physical and chemical properties of the lipoprotein blood complexes and a conclusion about the positive effect of atorvastatin and α-calcidol on the microviscosity of HDL.

Importance of fruits as valuable food resources, attention has been paid in recent years to study their physicochemical properties. Therefore, this investigation was undertaken to measure the physicochemical properties of the sweet orange genotype available in Bangladesh. A total of 8 genotypes including 3 released varieties (BAU Malta-1, BAU Malta-3, and BARI Malta-1) and 5 lines (CS Jain-001, CS Jain-002, CS Jain-003, CS Ram-001, and Variegated Malta) were included in this trial. Maximum average fruit weight (286.00 g), fruit size in terms of length (92.00 mm), and diameter (82.00 mm), mesocarp thickness (10.00 mm), and width of epicarp equatorial area (76.00 mm) was recorded from CS Jain-001 while the maximum number of segment (28.00), the diameter of fruit axis (23.66 mm), juice content (41.44%), titratable acidity (0.99%) and TSS: TA (33.73) was recorded from BAU Malta-3. TSS and juice pH was recorded maximum of 10.21% and 4.48, respectively in BAU Malta-1. Sugar content was found to be as follows, reducing sugar was the maximum in CS Jain-001 (3.50 %) while the highest total sugar (4.68%) was recorded in BAU Malta-1. Variegated Malta produced the maximum (48.45 mg/100 ml juice) ascorbic acid while CS Jain-001 contained maximum (8.35 mg/100 ml juice) ß-carotene. Therefore, considering fruit quality, BAU Malta-3, BARI Malta-1 can be used as fresh fruit. However, considering the fruit size, CS Jain-001 and CS Jain-002 could be used as breeding material to develop a new sweet orange variety with higher yield potential.

Abstract Collapsed walls cause collapsed mounds, and the disintegration characteristics of collapsed walls are thus closely linked with the occurrence of collapsed mounds. The current study examines the disintegration characteristics and the physical and chemical properties of collapsed walls. A multilevel analysis was conducted by obtaining soil samples from four layers of a collapsed wall. The results showed that 1) the physical and chemical properties of the soil samples (red soil layer, sandy soil layer, debris layer, gravel and eluvial breccia) are closely related to the weathering degree of the crust; 2) gravel and eluvial breccia disintegrated in the shortest time, whereas red soil exhibited the slowest disintegration in the vertical section of the collapsed wall. The order of the disintegrating ratio of the layers is as follows: red soil layer < sandy soil layer < debris layer < gravel and eluvial breccia. Initial water content significantly influenced the disintegration ratio of the red soil layer and sandy soil layer, whereas its effect on the debris layer and gravel eluvial breccia is minimal; and 3) most of the physical and chemical properties of the collapsed wall are significantly correlated with the disintegration ratio of the soil sample. The following physical and chemical properties, which are positively correlated with the disintegration ratio, are arranged based on highest to lowest correlation coefficient: sand content, MgO, natural water content, K2O, CaO, exchangeable sodium, pH, porosity, Na2O, and cation exchange capacity. The following physical and chemical properties, which are negatively correlated with the disintegration ratio, are organized based on highest to lowest correlation coefficient: cosmid, Fe2O3, silt particle, Al2O3, TiO2, SiO2, organic matter, free iron oxide, and free alumina. Only exchangeable calcium, saturated water content, specific gravity of soil particles, and dry density of soil particles are significantly correlated with the disintegration ratio. The correlation coefficient indicates that the disintegration ratio and soil structure, as well as the chemical content of clay minerals, are closely correlated. The study helps explain the mechanism of wall collapse and provides references for developing protective measures against erosion.

Fruits from twelve plum cultivars (Prunus domestica L.), were analyzed in terms of physical and chemical characteristics. The fruits trees were grown in a trial at University of Craiova - Fruit Growing Research Station (SCDP) Valcea, which is located in Bujoreni, an important Romanian plum production area. Fruits were picked at harvest maturity. Several analyzes were performed, such as fruit linear dimensions, size index, fruit weight, dry matter, soluble solids content, titratable acidity, total anthocyanins, malic, tartaric and citric acids content. The best features in terms of physical and chemical properties proved to be found in ‘Alina’, ‘Alutus’, ‘Tuleu Timpuriu’, ‘Oltenal’ and ‘Renclod Althan’.
