Planned events have been acknowledged to improve the image of a place. Although there are ample studies examining the destination image and tourist behaviors, this research focuses on the mediating effects of different destination images on the linkage between travel-specific event value and destination loyalty. In addition, this study seeks to advance the literature by addressing the mixed findings of event-induced destination image by examining the moderating effect of travel satisfaction. Moderated mediating effects of cognitive and affective destination images as well as the moderated indirect effect of event value are also tested. From a broader theoretical perspective, this study aims to advance the importance of event-induced destination image and the loyalty formation process by demonstrating the boundary condition of a trip based on tourist satisfaction.

This study examines the mediating role of satisfaction about cognitive image, affective image, novelty seeking in the loyalty of international tourists to Nha Trang City. The models employed in this research are developed from previous studies in the fields of Marketing and Tourism. The Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Structural Equation Model are used to analyze data collected from a survey on international tourists visiting Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa, Viet Nam. The results indicate that four dimensions of cognitive image (cultural and social; environmental; infrastructure and accessibility; and local food factors), affective image, and novelty seeking are important premises and directly correlate with the satisfaction and destination loyalty. In particular, environmental factor exerts the strongest impact on the return and recommendation intentions, of which the satisfaction serves as a bridge between the destination image (cognitive and affective), novelty seeking, and destination loyalty. The results provide theoretical and practical implications for stakeholders in Nha Trang City as well as for further research.

This study examines the effect of tourist evaluative factors, specifically service quality and tourist experience on tourist satisfaction and its further influence on revisit intention and intention to recommend. Service quality and tourist experience serve as independent variables, while revisit intention and recommend intention are posited as dependent variables, with satisfaction acts as the intervening variable. Data analysis using  Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) of 186 tourist visiting Umbul Sidomukti, Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia, finds that both revisit intention and intention to recommend could be increased through the improvement of service quality and tourist satisfaction.

This study explored the relationships between destination attractiveness, satisfaction, the sense of reliving, and loyalty among American tourists who had experienced Silk Road tourism in Uzbekistan. In addition, this study investigated the mediating role of the sense of reliving with regard to satisfaction and loyalty. A total of 477 respondents participated and were used for the final analysis. The results suggest that destination attractiveness includes multidimensional constructs consisting of five dimensions, namely, cultural attractiveness, natural attractiveness, the local people and superstructure, infrastructure, and price attractiveness. Cultural attractiveness, the warm hospitality of local people, and the superstructure appear to be the competitive attributes of Silk Road tourism in Uzbekistan affecting tourist satisfaction. Furthermore, the results reveal that tourist satisfaction increases loyalty. A mediating role of the sense of reliving with regard to satisfaction and loyalty was also confirmed. Tourists remember their travel experiences upon returning home, relive Silk Road travel experiences, and demonstrate their behavioral intentions. These findings can provide a deeper understanding of destination attractiveness and memorable experiences for increasing loyalty to destinations related to Silk Road tourism in Uzbekistan.

This study is one of the few of its kind that explores the individual impact of each of the cognitive attributes of a tourist destination’s image on cruisers’ destination loyalty and overall satisfaction. It also analyzes the mediating role of satisfaction between each of the attributes and loyalty. Variance-based structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used for this analysis, based on a survey of 457 cruisers visiting the city of Malaga. The results confirm that three of the five attributes, the destination’s environment image, the perceived value image of services and the accessibility image have a direct influence on cruisers’ overall satisfaction, where environment image has the most significant impact. Moreover, the results support the mediating role of satisfaction in certain cases. There is total mediation between perceived value and loyalty, as well as between accessibility image and loyalty while there is only partial complementary mediation between environment image and loyalty. The confirmation that overall satisfaction influences loyalty enables management organizations to develop more efficient loyalty strategies for their respective destinations.

This study investigates how group size and group familiarity interactively impact tourists’ perceived value and overall satisfaction with a group travel experience. The study also assesses the mediating role of perceived value in affecting the relationships between tourist satisfaction and both group size and group familiarity. The results revealed that tourists in small (vs. large) groups would have a higher level of perceived value and overall satisfaction toward a group travel experience. However, high group familiarity attenuates the effect of group size on tourists’ perceived value and satisfaction. Perceived value fully mediated the effect of group size on tourist satisfaction, as well as the interaction effect between group size and group familiarity on tourist satisfaction. Theoretical contributions and managerial implications of this study were also discussed.

In this study, the researchers have proposed, developed and tested a novel model which highlighted the effect of the Destination Service Quality (DSQ) dimensions (like local transport, accommodation, cleanliness, hospitality, different activities, airport, language communication services) on the tourist intention to revisit, via the mediating role played by tourist satisfaction, in UAE’s tourism industry. For this purpose, the researchers distributed 700 questionnaires amongst the international tourists visiting Dubai. 565 of the 700 (i.e., 80.71%) of the valid tourist questionnaires were returned. Results indicated that the study constructs were very reliable and displayed the convergent and discriminated validity. Thereafter, the researcher carried out the SEM for testing all research hypotheses. The findings have supported all the study’s hypotheses (direct and indirect relationships). The destination marketers, planners and managers must investigate all dimensions for developing better marketing and operational strategies. Finally, theoretical and managerial implications were discussed.
