scholarly journals Evaluation of Innovation Expenditures and Patents in the Polish Industry

The aim of the research has been to identify the elasticity of process and product innovation expenditures, the number of inventions as well as the number of patents in terms of net revenues generated from the sales of new and significantly improved products in the Polish industry over the years 2015-2017. Furthermore, a focus was also placed on the determination of the marginal and average productivity of innovation expenditures, as well as that of inventions and patents as observed in the Polish industry within the above-indicated period. The calculated marginal and average productivity values of independent variables allow for an indication of the areas of their rational management in the Polish industry. The research shows that the elasticity of inventions is greater (0.403) than the process and product innovation expenditures (0.333). On the other hand, the second power regression performed points to the fact that the elasticity of process and product innovation expenditures is higher (0.420) than the patent expenditure (0.251) within the relative increase in net revenues generated from sales of new and significantly improved products in the industry in Poland. A hypothesis has been confirmed claiming that the elasticity of patents – be it at its lowest – does increase the level of flexibility of process and product innovation expenditures in the Polish industry. A quality verification of inventions and their distinction as intellectual and legal property in the category of patents leads to the effective use of process and product innovation outlays within the relative increase in the net revenues obtained from the sale of new and significantly improved products in the industry in Poland. The conducted research reveals a new perspective on inventions and patents. Although the number of patents may show less elasticity, patents were significant in increasing the efficiency of process and product innovation expenditures effectuated within the industry in Poland over the years 2015-2017

The growth of phases by reactive diffusion in Mo-Si and W-Si systems are compared. The crystal structures of MSi2 and M5Si3 phases (M = Mo, W) are similar in these two systems. However, the diffusion rates of the components change systematically with a change in the atomic number. Integrated diffusion coefficients in both phases increase with an increasing atomic number of refractory elements i.e. from Mo to W. On the other hand, the ratio of diffusivities of the components decreases. This indicates a relative increase in the diffusion rates of the metal components with increasing atomic number and a difference in defects concentrations in these two systems.

Abstract Guigo II is commonly known and praised among specialists of Western mysticism for his Scala claustralium, a work that presents a spiritual program for cloistered monks. His Meditations, on the other hand, have usually been relegated to the margin of attention. The First Meditation, in particular, is generally regarded as a minor piece. The paper argues, however, that a new approach can make better sense of the First Meditation, while also enabling us to recognize its specific function and value. Seen from this new perspective, Guigo’s purpose with the text is to train and exercise his readers’ minds according to the spiritual program laid out in the Scala. The paper shows that the First Meditation realizes that goal, surprisingly, by having the same essential features that Umberto Eco found in the ‘open works’ of the Western avant-garde.

AbstractNon-manipulable factors, such as gender or race have posed conceptual and practical challenges to causal analysts. On the one hand these factors do have consequences, and on the other hand, they do not fit into the experimentalist conception of causation. This paper addresses this challenge in the context of public debates over the health cost of obesity, and offers a new perspective, based on the theory of Structural Causal Models (SCM).

This research aims to analyze the effect of working capital management on profitability ofbasic industry and chemicals that listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) within 2011-2014. Indicator of working capital management used in this research are cash conversioncycle (CCC), receivable conversion period (RCP), inventory conversion period (ICP),payable deferral period (PDP), and current ratio (CR). On the other hand, indicator ofprofitability used in this research is net profit margin (NPM).The sample data used in this research took from financial statement that have beenaudited and published in IDX. According to sampling technique used in this research,which is purposive sampling, there’re 25 companies that fit to certain criteria. Method ofdata analysis used in this research is Multiple Regression Analysis, which previouslyperformed classical assumption test. Hypothesis test is using F-statistic test, t-statistictest, and determination of coefficients with significance level of 5%.The result of this research indicates independent variables simultaneously (F-statistictest) effect on profitability (NPM) with significance level 0,000. On the other hand,partially (t-statistic test) indicates CCC has negative and significant effect onprofitability, PDP and CR have positive and significant effect on profitability.Meanwhile, RCP and ICP has positive and not significant effect on profitability. Adjusted’s score is 0,454 which means that the ability of independent variables can explainprofitability with 45,4%, while the rest is explain by other factors.

We found that 4,5- diphenyl- 3(2- propynyl) thio- 1??-triazole [1? forms a complex with Pd (11) ion of ratio 1:1 which absorbs light in CH2CI2 at 400 nm, and 4,5- diphenyl- 3(2- propenyl) thio- 1,2,4- triazole [II] forms complexes with Pd (II) ion of ratio 1:1 which absorbs light at 390 nm, and of ratio 2:1 which absorbs light at 435 nm. On the other hand, we found that the new derivative 4- phenyl- 5( p- amino phenyl) -3- mercapto- 1,2,4- triazole ?111? forms complexes with Cu (II) ion of the ratio 1:1 which absorbs light at 380 nm, with Ni (II) ion of the ratio 3:1 which absorbs light at 358 nm; and with Co (11) ion of the ratio 3.2:1 which absorbs light at 588 nm. The ratio of the complexes were determined by measuring the electronic spectra of the complexes in CH2G2 and (CH^NCHO at different concentrations ofthe ligands and f?xed ' •' of the metal ion in every case, then applying the molar ratio plots on the data. Our results were confirmed by precipitating most ofthe above complexes in solid state, and then each complex was analyzed elementally.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that influence the Debt to Asset Ratio which is a proxy of Capital Structure as the dependent variable. The independent variables studied as determinants of Capital Structure (DAR) include Size (SIZE), Profitability (ROA), Asset Structure (SA), and Corporate Liquidity (CR) using regression model. The population in this study are plantation sub-sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period 2014 - 2018. The findings suggest that ROA negatively significant affect DAR, while SA positively significant affect DAR. On the other hand, both SIZE & CR have no significant relationship with DAR

The paper was aimed at the determination of variability of horizontal resin canal dimension in spruce wood in relation to the position in a spruce stem. Significant changes of dimensions in horizontal resin canal along the stem length and radius were found. On the basis obtained of results 3D models (for CW, OW, SWL and SWP zones) describing changes in resin canal dimensions in spruce in relation to the position in a stem were created. In the models, the resin canal dimension decreases with the height of a stem and on the other hand, with an increasing distance from the stem pith the dimension of resin canal increases. The importance of the paper consists in the enlargement of findings about the structure of spruce with compression wood.

Examples from various harvest regimes, storage regimes, cultivars and different packaging methods are presented to characterize volatile ester differences after cutting and how changes occur in characteristic flavors throughout the postharvest life of certain cut fruit products. In many fresh-cut cantaloupe cultivars and in honeydew, there was a relative increase in nonacetates and coinciding relative decrease in acetates during storage. A similar and consistent nonacetate:acetate ester ratio was conserved in cantaloupe from eastern and western U.S. regions, as well as different cultivars from the same field. Furthermore, similar ratios were observed in many melon cultivars over multiple years from different seasons and growing regions. Since many cultivars exhibited similar trends in 2-year repeated studies, the trend is apparently independent of year and season. Fresh-cut `Gala' apples, on the other hand, displayed a slightly different trend whereby both acetates and nonacetate esters decreased appreciably during storage. The hypothesis is put forward that recycling of esters during storage in certain fresh-cut fruits disturbs the delicate fine balance of characteristic volatiles. Consistently decreasing acetates along with increasing nonacetates could alter the overall perceived desirable flavor attributes during fresh-cut melon storage, even though volatile esters are still abundant.

The aim of this paperis to determine the quality of TV classes World around us and Nature and Social Science,which were broadcasted on Radio Television of Serbia during the pandemic in the school year 2019/20. Although the work was indirect, so the immediate interaction between the teacher and student is missed. Therefore, teacher's questions were the way of establishing some kind of interaction in such classes organized in this manner. For this reason, we wanted to establish the types of questions that teachers were asking to students through small screens. Considering that the achievements of learning are based on Bloom's Taxonomy, we were analyzing sixteen TV classes and classified the questions the teachers asked according to cognitive area, on six educational levels. The results indicate that the most common were question within lower cognitive levels were (knowledge, understanding and application), and that there are no statistically significant differences in cognitive levels on questions asked between lower (1st and 2nd grade) and higher grades (3rd and 4th grade), on the other hand, on the classes of determination of educational content teachers were asking statistically significant quality questions compared to the classes of interpretation.

The relationships between actuarial and pure mathematics are curious. Actuaries have contributed to the development of mathematical theory: it is sufficient to mention, as examples, Fredholm of an earlier, and Cramér of a more recent generation. Scandinavian mathematicians, in particular, have been concerned with a very special type of stochastic process, reflected in the collective theory of risk, and the work of Philipson, Ammeter and others in this field is well known to readers of this Bulletin. However, the main stream of the theory of stochastic processes has little contact with actuarial applications.On the other hand, many actuaries have studied and assimilated pure mathematics and have thrown light on actuarial matters by describing their own preoccupations in the terminology of modern, often abstract, mathematics. E. Franckx is one of their number.The Instituto di Matematica Finanziaria of the University of Trieste (Faculty of Economics and Commerce) has published a booklet entitledEssai d'une théorie opérationnelle des risques Markoviens which contains three lectures delivered by Professor Franckx in Trieste and a contribution which he presented to the 17th Congress of Actuaries, held in London in 1964.
