scholarly journals Structural Changes in Tourism Market That Highlight the Product Specialization of Travel Intermediaries

Changes in society and the economy have a strong impact on specialization in tourism.The impact of structural changes in tourism, on the level of specialization of business of travel intermediaries, was analyzed in this paper. The impact of social changes intensifies the need for potential transformation of the role and the postion of travel intermediaries. In order to quantify this impact, the results of a survey conducted on a sample of tourists who stayed in the destination of Dubrovnik were used.This primary research was related to the sample of (400) respondents . In this paper structural changes in the tourism market are shown in results of the direction of specialization of programs of products according to market requests, area of vertical integrations, and an area of characteristics of package tours. Thus, contribution is made in an important area of the necessities for specialization of services in tourism. The results showed that the attitudes of tourists about the importance of the health and recreation program statistically significantly affect the specialization of the program of travel agencies. Considering vertical integrations findings show that : a) modality of booking services via travel agencies statistically significantly increases the likelihood of choosing of the specialized program of the travel agency ; b) also, the booking via Internet statistically significantly increases the likelihood of choosing the specialized program of the package tours. The results of this paper point to the need for constant adaptation to the requirements of tourists, where the reason for the adjustment could be found in a way of doing business based on internal and external changes in the environment.These changes include changes in tourist's style of living, specific attitudes towards reasons for travel, leisure and the way of communication using innovative tools when booking their services. Thus, the role of travel intermediaries is reviewed and examined by varibles that define their future market position.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to analyse the impact of major structural changes on the conceptualization of the transnational corporation (TNC) based on foreign direct investment (FDI) and on indicators of transnationality. Design/methodology/approach Analysis of three major structural changes which impact the current conception of transnationality. They are: the rise of digital companies; the increased role of finance in the economy; externalization of activities via non-equity modalities (NEMs) with an impact on FDI and on the labour market. Findings The paper finds that the current concept of transnationality needs widening to take account of companies with a low degree of fixed assets abroad such as the digital and the financial companies and those internationalizing via NEMs, as well as to take account of the evolving relationship between TNCs and labour. Research limitations/implications Future research along the lines proposed should consider: working explicitly with the new, inclusive concept of transnationality and arrive at an empirical estimate of the proposed indices of transnationality which modify and amplify the current United Nations Conference on Trade and Development indices. Social implications Useful for understanding the nature of transnationality in the twenty-first century and for developing policies. Originality/value The paper proposes a new concept of transnationality and of the TNC, one that allows for new ways of organizing direct business activities abroad. It also proposes broadening the list of indicators of transnationality.

Cervical cancer is one of the deadliest types of cancer that attacks women in the world. One of the treatment efforts for cancer is chemotherapy. Patients with cervical cancer who receive chemotherapy more than twice will experience impaired self-concept. This study aims to determine self-concept in cervical cancer patients who have undergone chemotherapy in Yogyakarta. This research uses qualitative method with phenomenology approach. Data collection is done with interview and observation. Participants totaling five people were determined by purposive sampling. The validity of the data used source triangulation and checked the data back to the participants. Analysis of data were by comparing among categories, marking and describing descriptively. The results of the study are 6 themes, namely physical changes, emotional changes, changes in sexual relations, changes in relationships with family, changes in the role of parenting and social changes in society. The impact of chemotherapy causes various changes in cervical cancer patients which make the self-concept of cervical cancer patients undergo changes

Chapter 3 examines debates about controls on consumer credit from late 1957 to 1964. As in Chapter 2, this chapter provides a fresh appraisal of Labour’s response to the affluent society. The party attempted to outflank the Conservatives on the issue of consumer protection. It embarrassed the Conservatives over their sluggish response to the Molony Committee’s recommendations on hire purchase legislation. The chapter also supports previous analyses that have identified the strong impact of new consumerist groups, particularly the Consumers’ Association and the weakening role of the Cooperative Movement. The issue of credit controls became more contentious. The Radcliffe Committee on monetary policy (1958) highlighted the weaknesses of the system. Of particular concern was the impact of controls on consumer durable industries. They were removed in 1958, but reintroduced, in 1960, following a dangerous rise in consumer indebtedness.

This paper aims to examine the effect of audit committee characteristics on audit report lag, and also explores whether this effect will vary between before and after mandatory adoption of IFRS in Saudi listed companies. Based on a Saudi sample of 388 firm-year observations from 2015 to 2018, the Poisson regression analysis shows that among audit committee characteristics, only audit committee financial experience significantly influences the timing of financial reporting. The result indicates a weak influence of audit committees on timeliness of financial reporting, which is consistent with the results of most of previous studies. On the other hand, the results show a strong impact of the adoption of IFRS on the context of that relationship, where the results show the impact of IFRS on audit report lag, audit committee quality and the association between them.

This paper explores African American opinion toward equal opportunity issues using a demographic-attitudinal focus. Previous explorations have focused on black-white opinion comparisons. In this analysis, attitudinal forces, particularly core values, are identified as playing an influential role in policy support. Further, these patterns of values tend to reflect those expressed by whites on similar questions: the more individualistic and conservative one is, the less likely one is to support government intervention on African Americans behalf. In responding to questions concerning governmental responsibility, higher SES African Americans express stronger support than do their lower SES counterparts. This finding suggests that those who are experiencing “glass ceilings” are concerned about government guarantees of equal opportunity, despite their individualistic beliefs. This is inconsistent with previous explorations that analyze these beliefs among disadvantaged populations. The implications of social changes in the African American community and the impact of these changes on opinion dynamics are discussed.

Customer loyalty to a destination and accommodation services constitutes a frequent object of research; however, customer loyalty to travel agencies is rarely analyzed. The presented article is an attempt to fill in this research gap. Its purpose is to construct and verify the model covering the impact of the selected factors on the loyalty level of customers of travel agencies operating in Poland. The conceptualization of the loyalty model of travel agency customers (based on the European path-based EPSI model) proposed in the article was first used to illustrate the existing correlations in customer behavior to analyze and explain the development of the loyalty phenomenon vis-a-vis travel agency customers. The aforementioned assumptions—having applied the structural equation modelling (SEM)—were reflected in the development of the theoretical model of travel agencies customer loyalty, the empirical verification of which (N = 1151) allowed us to determine the impacts of selected factors (i.e., the perceived quality of the travel agency’s offers, its image and the satisfaction with its service buyers) on the loyalty level of travel agency customers. It has been shown that two major factors have positive impacts on the loyalty of travel agency customers: (i) the perceived quality of travel agency offers, and (ii) its image. Furthermore, the conducted analysis highlights the positive influence of the perceived value of travel agency offers on the loyalty of customers.

This research is motivated by the failure of thousands of Umrah pilgrims to go to Mecca since 2017 but do not get their rights as consumers. Several facts prove that although regulations related to Hajj and Umrah organizers as well as the Consumer Protection Act have explicitly regulated consumer rights, in reality the pilgrims who are victims of hajj and umrah travel agency fraud are still not getting consumer protection. This research is a descriptive qualitative research using a normative juridical approach. Sources of data used in this study are primary data and secondary data obtained from interviews and document studies. This study concludes that the presence of Law No. 8 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of Hajj and Umrah contains the spirit of upholding consumer protection in the Hajj and Umrah business. However, its success is largely determined by the extent to which the regulator empowers internal supervisors to prevent irresponsible practices of hajj and umrah travel agencies. On this side, unfortunately, the role of guidance, supervision and legal protection carried out by the Indonesian Ministry of Religion as a regulator in protecting Hajj and Umrah pilgrims seems to be still at a very low level.

<p>Based on the data from the Bali Provincial Tourism Office in 2018, the number of French tourist visits to Bali continues to increase every year, even in 2018 it occupies the seventh position from the top ten suppliers of tourists to Bali. This condition is inseparable from the role of the Travel Agency in Bali, which always innovates and develops tourism products that suit the needs and characteristics of tourists. One of the Travel Agencies that focuses on working on the French tourist market is PT. Karang Bali Asli (KBA) Tour Denpasar which has been operating since 1999. This study examines three problems, namely: (1) What are the tourist characteristics-based products of French tourists offered by PT. KBA Tour ?; (2) What is the perception of French tourists on tourism products offered by PT. KBA Tour ?; and (3) How is the development of tourism products based on the characteristics of French tourists at PT. KBA Tour? This research is a qualitative research, with methods of collecting data through observation, in-depth interviews, questionnaires, and literature studies. The theory used was the Marketing Mix Theory and Perception Theory. The results of the study show that: (1) In general, tourism products offered by PT. KBA Tour Denpasar are interactive tourism products or tourism products that create intractions between tourists with the local community, as well as tourism products that create interaction between tourists and the natural environment; (2) The perception of French tourists on tourism products offered by PT. KBA Tur, shows positive (good) values for the four indicators in the Marketing Mix theory, namely: Product, Price, Place, and Promotion; (3) Business development of tourism products based on the characteristics of French tourists at PT. KBA Tur can be carried out as expected because of the synergy and support of the local community, company employees, and feedback and input from the tourists themselves, so that the tourism products offered by PT. KBA Tur are very popular with tourists and can be sustainable.</p><p> </p><p>Keywords: Development, Tourism Products, Tourist Characteristics.</p>
