<p class="abstract"><strong>Background:</strong> Facial scars prompt restorative issues and have mental impacts, for example, humiliation, poor confidence, and social isolation. This study intends to assess efficacy and safety of platelet rich plasma (PRP) versus CO<sub>2</sub> laser in post acne scar treatment.</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Methods:</strong> It is an outpatient based comparative study.  All patients enlisted in this study were separated into two groups, ten in each treatment group. In group A, patients received PRP month to month for 3 sittings and followed up eight weeks after the third sitting. In group B, patients received fractional CO<sub>2</sub> laser month to month for 3 sittings and followed up eight weeks after the third sitting. Improvement of acne scars was assessed utilizing digital photographs with identical camera settings and Goodman and Baron’s qualitative grading system at beginning, after each sitting and followed up eight weeks after the third sitting. Patients subjectively evaluated clinical improvement eight weeks after the last sitting. Software (SPSS, version 16.0 statistical packages) was used.<strong></strong></p><p class="abstract"><strong>Results:</strong> Assessment using qualitative acne scars grading system prior to and after treatment as well as patient’s subjective assessment 2 months after the third treatment session showed significant improvement in both groups. The baseline scores before treatment for group A and B were similar (p=0.7678) and final scores of both treatment groups showed no significant difference (p=0.8011) after treatment.</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Conclusions:</strong> This study shows that PRP as well as fractional CO<sub>2</sub> laser result in significant clinical change in the quality of post acne scars.</p>

Introduction: Permanent scars are the major complications of acne. Correction of scars is the priority for acne patients. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) may be useful in the treatment of atrophic acne scars by promoting collagen deposition. Skin needling also releases growth factors, initiate a cascade of wound healing resulting in collagen production. Hence, skin needling and PRP should act synergistically to improve acne scars.Objective: To assess the effectiveness of the combined use of skin needling and PRP application in acne scar treatment.Material and Methods: The study enrolled 10 patients of acne scars. Platelet rich plasma therapy with needling was given to them at monthly interval for a therapeutic period of 6 months. The effects of therapy were evaluated based on photographic assessment and patient’s satisfaction.Results: Mean age of the patients was 28.10 ± 5.065. Twenty percent of patients showed excellent response, 80% showed good response. The results were found to be significant with p value < 0.014. Pain and edema were major complaints which subsided in 1-2 days.Conclusion: Platelet rich plasma therapy combined with skin needling is a safe and effective treatment for management of acne scars.

Background: The idea of convalescent plasma usage is to give passive immunity to the patients, so their immune system stands a good chance of combating the virus.this study will review 6 cases of eligible covid 19 patients that had been treated with convalescent plasma therapy in Basra covid 19 quarantine Objectives: to demonstrate efficacy and safety of convalescent plasma in the patient series that had been enrolled . Method: this study had pioneered a new method to collect up to 3,000 mL in one session by an off-label use of Spectra Optia Apheresis systems by TerumoBCT /Exchange set to collect convalescent plasma. In this study 250 mL convalescent plasma had been given each of the 6 patients, from one donor. respose in spo2,dyspnoea and tachypnoea was observed ,any reaction to plasma also had been monitored . Result: Our case series have demonstrated both safety and effectiveness of convalescent plasma. This study was successful in reaching our primary and secondary outcomes in all 6 patients (improvement in SpO2 and symptoms). With negligible difference in time of post transfusion response Conclusion: convalescent plasma is apperantly safe and effective, In this study 250 mL convalescent plasma had been given each of the 6 patients, from one donor using Therapeutic Plasma Exchange (TPE) protocol by Spectra Optia Apheresis system/TerumoBCT. Abstract Background Acne scars, is a challenge for dermatologists, despite having multiple treatment modalities like microneedling, dermabrasion, Fractional CO2 Laser, dermal fillers, etc. However, monotherapy has been hardly satisfactory because of the polymorphism seen with the scars. Objective Comparison between microneedling with platelet rich plasma versus Fractional carbon dioxide laser with platelet rich plasma in treatment of atrophic post acne scars. Patients and methods This study was carried out in department of dermatology, venereology and andrology, in Kobry El-Kobba Military complex during the period (from September 2018 to July 2020 ) on 20 patients of both sexes aged from 20 to 60 years old presenting with Goodman and Baron Grade II, III, IV acne scars . Results The study revealed a statistically significant difference (p = 0.017) between Goodman and Baron scar grades on the right side of the face before and after treatment indicating that microneedling with platelet rich plasma was effective in improving acne scars. Also, there is a statistically significant difference (p = 0.010) between Goodman and Baron scar grades on the left side of the face before and after treatment, indicating that fractional CO2 laser with platelet rich plasma was effective in improving acne scars. Conclusion and recommendation Further controlled and randomized studies are needed to validate our findings in a larger cohort of patients and longer follow up. Also, number of sessions might be more than 3 sessions.
