The rapid development of science and technology has not fully brought a new paradigm in learning mathematics, seen by a large number of internet users only limited to the use of social media in every circle. The purpose of writing this scientific paper is to describe elearning as a way of learning built by the Learning Management System (LMS), and how this system can play a role in personalizing mathematical concepts. The research method used is descriptive analysis by collecting data, compiling or classifying, analyzing, and interpreting several types of software commonly used in e-learning. The results of the analysis show that mathematical personalization can occur by utilizing the features contained in the topics of LMS and is very useful for building learning objects that are suitable to overcome various didactic obstacles in mathematics learning, encourage more semiotic coordination in presentations, and avoid bad classroom practices during mathematics learning. Personalization through LMS can also produce different didactic abilities by considering the profiles of students.  Keywords: personalization, mathematics, e-learning, learning management system.

To have a unique learning experience and a high learning impact, diverse courses should be incorporated in e-Learning. Learning Management System, a tool in e-Learning manages and delivers content to users. Learning Objects (LO), the course content is the fundamental unit of Learning Management System. Knowledge Object of Knowledge Management System can also be a viable resource in technology supported learning. A learning scenario for a given learner has to be identified. The course content (LO) has to match their learning skills. Data mining techniques can be widely used to find similar objects and K-Mean clustering technique can be used to produce more consistent clusters. The clusters can have strong and similar concepts of Learning Knowledge Objects. A new algorithm, a weighted cosine distance that gives real-valued distances between instances which further modifies the structure of the feature space is used for prioritising objects in clusters. These objects can be further mapped to learning approaches of the users. An experiment is conducted by using Learning and Knowledge Objects to understand the effectiveness of the weighted measure, thereby a personalized holistic learning environment is provided to the learners.

Abstract Traditional Learning Management Systems are installed on a single server where learning materials and user data are kept. To increase its performance, the Learning Management System can be installed on multiple servers; learning materials and user data could be distributed across these servers obtaining a Distributed Learning Management System. In this paper is proposed the prototype of a recommendation system based on association rules for Distributed Learning Management System. Information from LMS databases is analyzed using distributed data mining algorithms in order to extract the association rules. Then the extracted rules are used as inference rules to provide personalized recommendations. The quality of provided recommendations is improved because the rules used to make the inferences are more accurate, since these rules aggregate knowledge from all e-Learning systems included in Distributed Learning Management System.

The rapid development of information and communication technologies has led to the use of new and digital technologies in education which involves combinations of text, graphics, audio, video, animations and other eLearning resources such as authoring tools, Learning Management System (LMS), Mobile learning and others. Arguably, using LMS leaves much to be desired. The inherent problem here is that the future of extensive adoption of ICT via LMS to enhance and promote classroom interaction in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) is bleak. This is worrisome given that the country is lagging far behind in the innovative use of this web 2.0 technology to impart knowledge. Further, the low-level application of LMS in instruction connotes the loss of inherent advantages in its adoption. Also, the online setting which makes students less nervous and interactive, sharing of ideas and viewpoints; and a host of other benefit will be lost. While evidence has shown that LMS is not a new phenomenon, the use of LMS in ODL is still at its infancy, particularly in Nigeria. Research in this area is rare. A quick search on prominent research databases could testify that. It is on this thrust that this study investigates University of Ibadan undergraduate students’ perceived roles and readiness towards integration of learning management system into teaching and learning.

This research intends to explain the autonomy and creative thinking skills of prospective elementary school student teachers in mathematics with the learning management system (LMS)-assisted science phenomenon. The data collection was done by using test instruments in the form of essay questions to capture the creative thinking skills and a non-test in the form of a questionnaire was used to capture the autonomy skills of prospective elementary school student teachers. The data were analysed through several stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, data conclusions, and data validation using triangulation. The result of the research shows that using the LMS can improve the creative thinking skills of prospective elementary school teachers, while their autonomy skills in experimental classes and control classes indicate no difference. This happens because students were given the same opportunity to explore the material independently. Thus, a way to develop autonomy through mathematics learning needs to be explored.
