Existing location based alarm applications has inability to give information to user’s particular direction to a specified place of destination and doesn’t display a particular scenic spot from its current location going to the destination. With this problem, a location based alarm mobile reminder was developed. The application is implemented on Android based smart phones to provide services like providing routing information, helping find nearby hotels, restaurants and scenic spots and offer many advantages to the mobile users to retrieve the information about their current location and process that data to get more useful information near to their location. It reminds the user about the location when the user enters some predefined location. All the user needs to have is the mobile phone with android platform with version 4.0 and above, and then the user can select the destination and find the destination on the application. The main objective of the project is to develop a location based application that provides tourists with real time information for scenic spots and provides alarm to a specified place of destination. This mobile application service will act as assistance for the frequent travelers to visit new places around the City.

Monitoring small crowd of people as tourists in different country always create recurrence issues to their tour-guides such as someone is lost somewhere, losing important documents and getting sick in the middle of the crowd. Similarly, during the Hajj season, such issues occur while millions of Muslims are gathered in two popular cities, Mecca and Medina, of Saudi Arabia. At the peak of the Hajj season, Mecca is identified as the most crowded place when pilgrims all over the world along with their respective tour-guides known as Mutawwif are resided in the city. Thus, communication between the crowd and their respective tour guides offers useful dynamic multi-user tracking data which is essential for close monitoring purposes. This study explores the usage feasibility of dynamic multi-user tracking data in order to provide a context-aware and simple communication means in the form of mobile application to both pilgrims and Mutawwifs for resolving their recurrence issues. The application can be used by the pilgrims to send current location and purpose for contacting the Mutawwif. At the same time, the Mutawwif is able to locate their respective pilgrims and aware of their pilgrims’ current location and needs. The prototype of the system is developed by using software engineering approach to test the feasibility of using multi-user tracking data in such situation. The prototype has been evaluated and fulfilled the intended requirements for monitoring small crowd. As a conclusion, the prototype offers an alternative for Malaysian Mutawwifs to aware of pilgrims’ issues and track their need and location at real time during Hajj season. Similarly, the pilgrims also can communicate their needs and problems to their respective Mutawwifs.

For water distributors, management of emergencies and the follow-up of events in real time represent an essential aspect of their work. Proper management of this information makes for optimization of its use and enables one to avoid a large number of problems regarding water supply thanks to improved reactivity and more precisely-focused action. Since 1992, Sagep (Société Anonyme de Gestion de l’Eau de Paris) to whom the City of Paris has entrusted responsibility for its water supply, has equipped itself with a computerized real-time monitoring system. Initially, this system processed 5,000 pieces of real-time information, which permitted monitoring of the 1,600 km of drinking water pipes and made possible distribution of the 650,000 m3 of drinking water consumed daily by Parisians. In 1996, given the enormous progress achieved with regard to information systems and measuring devices installed in the pipe networks, the Scada at Sagep was modernized. This made possible the integration of the fresh information necessitated by developments in the supply system of the City of Paris, plant renovation, new sensors, the traceability of events and water quality follow-up. These developments led to the integration and management of 17,500 pieces of real-time information, over three-quarters of which are made up of emergencies or events. It seems clear that it is impossible to manage such a mass of real-time information in the absence of a rigorous processing strategy. To exploit this set of data in optimal fashion, Sagep has developed a system of management of emergencies based on three thrusts: identification, qualification and processing.

Abstract There are a number of instances when consumers have imperfect information regarding the quantity they consume. This paper has two objectives: (1) to formally describe how quantity uncertainty is likely to affect consumer behavior and (2) to describe how these changes in behavior are likely to differ depending on how the quantity uncertain good is priced. We develop a theoretical model of consumer behavior under quantity uncertainty which we use to illustrate how different price structures and different locations within price structures matter for how information impacts behavior. We test these hypotheses using a unique panel data set containing information on water consumption habits of more than 88,000 households in the City of Aurora, Colorado. In 2005, Aurora subsidized the purchase of electronic devices for households to monitor water use. These devices provide households with real-time information on their water use. We find that, consistent with the aims of the program, households with the device decreased their water use during periods when they faced a constant marginal price; however, contrary to the aims of the program, their consumption increased during periods when they faced an increasing block rate pricing structure. These results are consistent with the predictions of the theoretical model developed herein.
