Library services are an illustration of the fulfillment of library functions. One of the services that must be provided in the library is a catalog service. A service that makes it easier for users to find the collection they need in addition to asking a reference service. The catalog has three objects as mentioned by Cutter, namely the find function, the collect function, and the select function. In addition, the existence of a catalog can facilitate librarians in the collection development process. Therefore, a catalog should be in every library. The purpose of writing is to find out whether the use of catalogs in the intended library has been effective? Has the library implemented a catalog service? Is the SLiMS application in the Library effective to use? The author uses qualitative research methods so that the results obtained can be in accordance with the facts that appear and are seen when researchers observe the state of the object, namely the Sindanglaya Small Library. With the results of the study that the Sindanglaya Regional Small Library has not applied catalog services properly, only relying on the arrangement on the bookshelves so that researchers work with managers to use online catalogs by inputting data collections from the library using the SLiMS application. , ,

This research focuses on examining the availability of Virtual Reference Services in academic libraries in the Middle East. Virtual Reference Services could be provided in several ways, for example: by telephone, email, live chat, video conferencing, texting, and recently using social media applications like Twitter. This research will explore the presence of Virtual Reference Services in Middle Eastern academic libraries, and the ways in which they are presented. 55 academic libraries’ websites have been examined with a checklist that includes: the nature of reference services available, the time it took to locate the Virtual Reference Services, the text included in the link to describe the services, and the number of links navigated on the webpage to find the reference services. The main objective of this research is to examine the use of Virtual Reference Services in Middle Eastern university libraries and to increase the awareness of the libraries’ resources and services. Findings of this study showed that live chat as a Virtual Reference Service in the Middle East is not very prevalent. In addition, it was found that email as a means of virtual communication is used most commonly by the academic libraries that provided Virtual Reference Services.

We will study the influence of low intensity and frequency surface peripheral electrical stimulation (PES) on nerve regeneration of digital nerve injuries of the hand after its surgical repair in humans. Participants will be patients with acute traumatic peripheral nerve injury referred to the Hand Surgery Service of the General Hospital of the State of Bahia, a reference service in the state. These patients will undergo surgery followed by PES in the immediate postoperative period. After hospital discharge, they will be followed up on an outpatient basis by researchers, who will remotely supervise a physiotherapy program. Our hypothesis is that PES will positively influence the recovery of sensory function in patients undergoing neurorrhaphy of digital nerves of the hand. Palavras chave: Fenilcetonúrias, Fenilalanina, Triagem neonatal ABSTRACT: Abstract Phenylketonuria is one of the main causes of intellectual disability, and it has effective treatment, if the diagnosis and treatment is performed early and a lifelong follow-up. The objective of this study is to determine the prevalence of newborns with phenylketonuria identified by newborn screening.  Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out in which a data collection on newborn screening for phenylketonuria disease was carried out at the Newborn Screening Reference Service from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2015.  Results: It was found in a 5-year period, an approximate prevalence of phenylketonuria of 1: 14,700 and permanent hyperphenylalaninemia is 1: 54,500 newborns. By means of the obtained results, it is possible to demonstrate the relevance of the recollects and the follow-up in the first year of life and of altered samples, as well as the severity of the female population with phenylketonuria and permanent hyperphenylalaninemia, emphasizing the increase of possible brain damages in the gestational phase. Conclusion: The prevalence of phenylketonuria and permanent hyperphenylalaninemia is high. Recollect and follow-up in the first year of life of the altered samples is extremely important, especially for the female population with phenylketonuria and permanent hyperphenylalaninemia, emphasizing the increase of possible brain damage in the gestational phase.  Keywords: Phenylketonurias. As public assembly occupancies, academic libraries in China have been implementing effective strategies in response to the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic since January 2020, in order to meet the teaching, learning, and researching needs of the faculties and students due to the closure of libraries. The library at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST) is one of the typical cases with significantly increased user access during the pandemic. In this article, a reflection is made on the emergency measures and endeavours by the library in USST to adapt various services, including digital resources guarantee while working remotely, moving from an offline reference service to online ones, extending circulation from an in-door service to an out-door service, the use of social media, and so on, in order to discuss the emerging problems and to analyze the lessons learned. On this basis, this article proposes suggestions for university libraries to realign their development directions and measures to digital collections and online services as well as to improve the vocational skills of librarians in the post-epidemic period, so as to provide more professional, active, and considerate services in the future.

John Searle Library has undertaken a reclassification of the Chinese Theological Collection belonging to Melbourne School of Theology.  It was found that Pettee Classification did not support cataloging sufficiently due to not being updated in decades.  Reclassification of the collection was necessary.  This paper discusses the decision-making process and how the new classification scheme for the collection was chosen. It describes the implementation of the reclassification project and reviews the outcomes. It was decided to reclassify the collection to Library of Congress Classification.  This resulted in improving information retrieval, increasing collection discoverability and visibility, and reducing staff time devoted to cataloguing and reference service. An interactive online LCC training module was developed to educate users.  As a result, users were engaged and empowered to discover the collection effectively. In conclusion, classification is not merely for shelving and retrieving items. It is the foundation of knowledge organization and also a core business to support many aspects of library service. Information professionals should rethink and reposition classification and transform it into a value-added service for the library.

<p>This study looks at digital reference services in New Zealand public libraries to find out what types of services are being provided and what impact they are having on traditional reference services. A survey was sent to twenty-seven selected public libraries with a further sixteen selected libraries added after a low response rate from the first group, to collect information on their digital reference services. The libraries included large, medium and small and were selected from all areas of New Zealand. A questionnaire was used to collect the information and the data was statistically analysed. All large and the majority of medium selected libraries are providing a digital reference service in the form of email or web form. Four of the large libraries are participating in AnyQuestions - a virtual reference service for New Zealand school children, and one large library has their own virtual service. The low response rate and deficiencies in the survey design have resulted in inconclusive results for this study. We know libraries are providing digital reference services and we know something about how the services are provided, but it is still unclear whether these services are having an impact on traditional reference services.</p>
