Entrepreneurship fosters economic development of a country. This appears more crucial and absolute necessity in emerging country context. The efforts have been laid for entrepreneurship development with the collaboration of academic institutions and industries. These collaborations try to transform academic based research into commercialized products to develop a knowledge based society. Government has also initiated numerous projects to support this effort. This chapter presents an overview of the whole scenario along with its challenges, prospects and future development in emerging country context. The theme has been elaborated with a case study on IIT Kharagpur, India.

An emerging country like India demands a high level of entrepreneurial development for its economic growth as the scope of entrepreneurship is tremendous here. There is a particular reason that developing countries are trying to put in to entrepreneurship education in the higher education institutions (HEIs). Higher education institutions (HEIs) have been playing a major part in current economic development through innovation grant program. The idea of entrepreneurial university can be seen as the universities those have proved to be the best in critical economic development condition. The prime focus of this chapter is to understand the concept of academic entrepreneurship efficiently, to analyze the entrepreneurial challenges in Indian technology universities and how it is related to regional growth. The literature on these entrepreneurial pillars are still quite sparse, and the authors have tried to focus on all the important aspects of them. These orientations of this archetype for facilitating Indian economic growth are discussed, and the challenges are identified.

This chapter presents Singapore as a case study for the management of change as Singapore transits from a knowledge-based economy to the creative economy. Analysis of the knowledge-based economy suggests that competitive advantage is increasingly derived from investment in intangibles, particularly information and knowledge-based competencies. The film industry is chosen as a microcosm level of analysis to examine the state of the creative economy as the latest phase in Singapore’s economic development as technology and information are increasingly used to navigate and mediate its people, resources and capital. The objective of this research is to examine the types of competencies that enable firms in the industry to stay competitive in the contemporary knowledge-based economy in the light of technological development in the industry. In so doing, it seeks to shed light on what matters for the industry and the role that government has in shaping the creative economy.

This article examines ‘green products’ as a means of expressing ‘green behaviour’ in an emerging economy. The empirical evidence focused on green awareness, behaviour and green culture as a contributing factor. A self-administered questionnaire was run to collect data from consumers ( n = 280) approximately 93 per cent of urbanite in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. SmartPLS3.0 was used to analyse the measurement and structural model assessment. Findings suggest that attitude and the green culture had a higher influence on green behaviour. However, the evaluation of green behaviour is not dependent on economic development. Perceived behavioural control (PBC) was found to be insignificant among Malaysian citizens. In particular, awareness interaction between behaviour and culture were insignificant, not sufficient to predict behaviour. The study suggested it is important to educate Malaysian citizens from grassroots about the significance of environmental education and put forward actions to improve green behaviour status and promote green marketing.

Cyberphysical system design automation utilizing knowledge based engineering techniques with globally networked knowledge bases can tremendously improve the design process for emerging systems. Our goal is to develop a comprehensive architectural framework to improve the design process for cyberphysical systems (CPS) and implement a case study with Axiomatic Design Solutions Inc. to develop next generation toolsets utilizing knowledge-based engineering (KBE) systems adapted to multiple domains in the field of CPS design automation. The Cyberphysical System Design Automation Framework (CPSDAF) will be based on advances in CPS design theory based on current research and knowledge collected from global sources automatically via Semantic Web Services. A case study utilizing STEM students is discussed.

Subject. This article examines the functions and management structures of central financial bodies and related parliamentary and governmental structures in Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Japan, Germany, France and Italy. Objectives. The article aims to identify non-standard functions and structures that go beyond the classical responsibility of finance ministries as a central part of the budget process arising from current economic challenges. Methods. For the study, I used a comparative analysis. Results. The article describes the important new functions of financial authorities and treasuries of Western governments aimed at economic growth and economic recovery. Conclusions. The organizational and management structures and functions of the ministries of finance go far beyond the budget process, overlap with and dominate the functions of central banks and ministries of economic development.

Subject. This article explores the various aspects of the concept of Spatial Development. Objectives. The article aims to develop a conceptual basis for the spatial socio-economic development of the collaborating regions. Methods. For the study, I used the methods of comparative and statistical analyses. Results. The article shows how cooperation between the subjects of the Russian Federation increases the potential of economically united regions. Conclusions. When preparing national strategic planning documents, it is necessary to take into account the specifics of regions, their capacity, available resources, and focus on the relationship between regions.
