The main purpose of this chapter is to evaluate the financial performance of hotel enterprises in Crete from a Multiple-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) perspective. Crete is one of the most developed tourist destinations in the Mediterranean basin and the hotel sector plays a major role constituting the main driving power towards economic growth. In this study, the multi-criteria method PROMETHEE II, based on outranking relations, will be implemented based on five different criteria. The original financial data are obtained through financial statements for the recession period 2008-2012. According to the availability of data, the sample consists of 194 hotel companies. The present study provides valuable insights for a number of stakeholders in such a dynamic competitive sector.

Mining design is usually evaluated with different multiple-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods when it comes to large open pit or underground ore mines, but it is not used on quarry sites. Since Croatia is mostly mining stone, the implementation of such methods in decision making of the quarry mine design is imperative but left out. In this paper, the PROMETHEE II and AHP decision-making methods are implemented on the quarry site to find out the best final quarry design contour. By implementing the MCDM methods, the best quarry model was chosen based on 22 different criteria parameters out of three final quarry designs. The chosen model is not only financially sound but also has the least environmental impact.

In this article, we propose a method for ranking tourist destinations and evaluating their performances under a sustainability perspective: a fuzzy multiple criteria decision-making method is applied for determining sustainability performance values and ranking destinations accordingly. We select a set of sustainability evaluation criteria and use a fuzzy analytic hierarchy process to weight the selected criteria. We also optimize each evaluator’s membership function support by means of a fuzzy entropy maximization criteria. A case study is illustrated and results are compared with two data envelopment analysis–based models. The simplicity of the proposed approach along with the easy readability of the results allow its direct applicability for all involved stakeholders.

Financial statements are the end result of the accounting process that presents information that isuseful for decision making by various parties. Hery (2012: 3) Explaining the reportFinance is basically the result of an accounting process that can be used as a toolto communicate financial data or company activities to parties whoInterested. The conclusion of the two notions of financial statements is the final resultof the Accounting process that is collected and compiled for use as reports that can beprovide users of Financial statements in making decisions.

The aim of this paper is to develop a methodology for the prioritization of sewer rehabilitation projects for Algiers (Algeria) sewer networks to support the National Sanitation Office in its challenge to make decisions on prioritization of sewer rehabilitation projects. The methodology applies multiple-criteria decision making. The study includes 47 projects (collectors) and 12 criteria to evaluate them. These criteria represent the different issues considered in the prioritization of the projects, which are structural, hydraulic, environmental, financial, social and technical. The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is used to determine weights of the criteria and the Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluations (PROMETHEE II) method is used to obtain the final ranking of the projects. The model was verified using the sewer data of Algiers. The results have shown that the method can be used for prioritizing sewer rehabilitation projects.

Extensive decision-making during the vaccine preparation period is unpredictable. An account of the severity of the disease, the younger people with COVID-19 comorbidities and other chronic diseases are also at a higher risk of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this research article, the preference ranking structure for the COVID-19 vaccine is recommended for young people who have been exposed to the effects of certain chronic diseases. Multiple Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) approach effectively handles this vague information. Furthermore, with the support of the Intuitionistic Fuzzy Soft Set (IFSS), the entries under the new extension of the Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluation-II (PROMETHEE-II) is suggested for Preference Ranking Structure. The concept of intuitionistic fuzzy soft sets is parametric in nature. IFSS suggests how to exploit an intuitionistic ambiguous input from a decision-maker to make up for any shortcomings in the information provided by the decider. The weight of the inputs is calculated under the Intuitionistic Fuzzy Weighted Average (IFWA) operator, the Simply Weighted Intuitionistic Fuzzy Average (SWIFA) operator, and the Simply Intuitionistic Fuzzy Average (SIFA) operator. An Extended PROMETHEE-based ranking, outranking approach is used, and the resultant are recommended under the lexicographic order. Its sustainability and feasibility are explored for three distinct priority structures and the possibilities of the approach. To demonstrate the all-encompassing intuitionistic fuzzy PROMETHEE approach, a practical application regarding COVID-19 severity in patients is given, and then it is compared to other existing approaches to further explain its feasibility, and the sensitivity of the preference structure is examined according to the criteria.

This research aimed primarily to clarify the extent of the significance of financial analysis tools in the rationalization of investors’ decisions in the Khartoum Stock Exchange. This is, however, will be effected by identifying the role of financial analysis using financial ratios to provide information to make a sound decision. To achieve this objective, the research used the analytical descriptive approach, since the same conforms to such types of researches. To affect this, the research relied basically on the annual financial data of the case study. Based on said account, the research has reached a number of findings, the most significant of which, are the following: The utilization of trend analysis reporting in the Khartoum Stock Exchange has a great significance in the performance evaluation of the stock market. The liquidity ratios as a tool for financial statements analysis deemed as a perfect indicator in the process of decision making in the stock market. The debt ratios are the most significant tools in the financial analysis of the published financial statements, which help investors to take sound investment decisions.

This chapter presents the concept of stochastic multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) method to solve complex ranking decision problems. This approach is composed of three main areas of research, i.e. classical MCDM, probability theory and classification method. The most important steps of the idea are characterized and specific features of the applied methods are briefly presented. The application of Electre III combined with probability theory, and Promethee II combined with Bayes classifier are described in details. Two case studies of stochastic multiple criteria decision making are presented. The first one shows the distribution system of electrotechnical products, composed of 24 distribution centers (DC), while the core business of the second one is the production and warehousing of pharmaceutical products. Based on the application of presented stochastic MCDM method, different ways of improvements of these complex systems are proposed and the final i.e. the best paths of changes are recommended.
