This chapter provides a summary relating to the functioning of two projects in the two Southern States of India, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala, to show how through broadband deployment in rural areas the digital divide can be bridged. By focusing on the implementation of the two projects, the chapter illustrates their contribution in practically using the broadband technologies in overcoming the hurdles to bridging the digital divide, and highlights the critical success factors as identified during the functioning of the projects which helped the states in achieving their goals. The chapter also reveals through its analysis that the accessibility of services through broadband technology have brought an opportunity to the citizens to become a part of the current knowledge revolution, besides bringing about a great technological transformation to the areas where it is implemented, and thus contributed to bridging the digital divide. The chapter is finally concluded by proving that moving from a manual to electronic process with broadband technology as an enabler; the States set an example, which will serve as a set of guidelines for application of similar projects in other geographical settings.

Benchmarking for Best practices has covered many industries during the last two decades. The scope of the business may vary, but the importance of best practices for women empowerment has been a common business objective and the capacity of organizations to implement best practices has become very important to achieve success in the long run. Therefore, the objective of this study is to identify the best practices in achieving organizational excellence among Women Empowerment organisations. The study is based on the critical success factors for organization excellence such as Strategic planning and control, organization process climate, organization excellence benchmarking, team effectiveness, employee morale, empowerment readiness, ethical work culture and customer satisfaction from the literature review. A total sample of 100 respondents of which 50 are employees from different levels in Rastriya Seva Samithi (RASS) and 50 respondents are women beneficiaries from women empowerment programmes conducted by RASS in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. The results of the study provide an insight to Women Empowerment organizations in Andhra Pradesh on the critical success factors that are appropriate to their needs in order to achieve organizational excellence.

The purpose of this paper is to obtain a set of critical success factors (CSFs) for selecting building contractors in Qatar to help investors effectively and efficiently build their houses. First, a systematic review of the previous research was carried out to capture the 20 most frequently occurring CSFs for constructing houses. Then, a survey was distributed to 280 investors to determine their perceptions of the importance of CSFs. The survey was evaluated using Pareto analysis and the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) to determine which CSFs are most relevant to investors when building houses. The contribution of this study to the current knowledge is studying the investor’s behavior by considering frequency, cost, and time components simultaneously to capture the most significant Critical Success Factors (CSFs) in selecting building contractors. The strategy developed by this study provides a ready set of criteria that can be used by investors and local authorities in qualifying building contractors.

Joint use libraries in New Zealand are generally found in the form of School and Community Libraries, primarily in rural areas, but there is little information available about their effectiveness or success. Research was undertaken by surveying all identified joint use libraries in New Zealand and then following this with detailed Case Studies of three selected libraries. As these joint use libraries continue to be established in rural and urban areas of New Zealand, this research aimed to establish the Critical Success Factors for School and Community (Joint Use) Libraries in New Zealand. A comparison of these factors with those found in overseas literature on Joint Use Libraries has yielded guidelines to enable present and future manifestations of these libraries in New Zealand to be effective and successful.
