Comparative Study on Workplace Collaboration across the Leading Global Organizations in IT Sector

The significant role of work place collaboration has been widely felt across the globe due to diversity and highly changing organizational dynamics. Six components emerged from the relevant management and organizational behavior regarding how managers built unity through collaboration and create a conducive environment for work and productivity. They are known as –teaming, motivating subordinate, career counseling, communicating with subordinate, professional relationships, issues related to morale and quality of work life. The present piece of work is a study of work place collaboration on 60 employees belonging from 6 different organizations. . Self-assessment inventory on work place collaboration have been used to assess those six factors. The results revealed that there is a significant gap between “what is” and “what should be” across all the six components of work place collaboration. Correlation values also suggest the differential degree of correlation between the six factors for each organization. The findings have been discussed in terms of the organizational & IT Sector's perspectives.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the mediating effect of organizational embeddedness in the relationship between quality of work life (QWL) and turnover under a foundation of conservation of resources theory. Design/methodology/approach Data were collected from 422 healthcare professionals through a questionnaire survey, and analyzed by means of a confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling. Findings The results indicate that organizational embeddedness has a negative impact on employees’ intention to leave, and on actual turnover. For QWL perception, career opportunities, work life balance, and job characteristics are positive and significant predictors of organizational embeddedness. In addition, organizational embeddedness plays an intermediary role that mediates the relationship between the three components of QWL mentioned earlier and turnover intention, and also between the factor of career opportunities and actual turnover. Research limitations/implications The current research took place within two healthcare organizations. Replicating the study in a variety of business sectors or professions with a larger sample of subjects would be useful for the generalizability of the findings. Practical implications Organizations may improve their retention of employees by offering intrinsic resources that can be obtained from the social contexts of the individual through human resource management system, e.g., growth opportunities, a healthy and caring work life quality. Such motivational resources then develop a sense of obligation toward their places of employment, which influences their intention to stay or leave. Originality/value This study examines the mediating role of organizational embeddedness between employees’ perception of their work life quality and their desire and behavior to withdraw, which is an area of inquiry that has not been fully investigated in the literature.

Numerous programs addressing employee alcohol abuse and dependence have appeared in organizations in the U.S. since the 1940s. Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) have effectively used a dual strategy of constructive confrontation and counseling for dealing with problem drinkers at the work site. In many organizations, however, practitioners have begun to treat problem drinkers by altering this strategy and/or relying on health promotion programs (HPPs) and quality of work life (QWL) efforts. This article compares EAPs, HPPs, and QWL, discussing their theoretical underpinnings, methods, and demonstrated effectiveness in treating alcohol abuse and dependence. The author encourages cooperation among EAP, HPP, and QWL practitioners in addressing work place factors related to drinking problems, and makes several recommendations for future research.

The study aims to identify the correlation and impact relationship between the quality of work life and the organizational commitment, and to show the strength of this relationship and its impact, and then provide a theoretical framework for the study variables. The practical aspect was distributed over a sample consisting of (77) persons working in Islamic banks. After the collection and processing of data using the statistical program (spss), the results showed a positive relationship between the variables of the study as well as the existence of a positive effect and accordingly, a number of recommendations were made.

Abstract Proper use of the educational potential of sports depends on the entities organizing children’s sports competitions (coaches, parents, referees). Particularly important is their awareness of the purposefulness and legitimacy of actions taken. Numerous studies have been devoted to the role of the coach and parents in providing children and young people with positive sporting experiences. In contrast, the referee has often been overlooked. The behavior of the referees during the match is also important for young players. Assuming that referee-player interactions have a major contribution to educational influence, the purpose of this study was to explore the opinions of soccer referees refereeing matches of children aged 9 to 12 years about their interactions with players in terms of emotional support, game organization, and instructional support. It was also decided to verify whether referees’ self-assessment of their educational function is influenced by experience. The research was conducted among 116 referees licensed by Mazovian Football Association who referee matches of children aged 9–12 years (Orliki and Młodziki categories) in the Masovian Voivodeship in Poland. To assess the referee-players educational interaction, a questionnaire survey was developed. These interactions are present in three domains: emotional support, game organization and instructional support. The results showed significant differences between referees’ self-assessments in the three domains. Referees rated their educational interactions with players higher in the domain of emotional support than the instructional support. Moreover, the results indicated that there was no differences in the referees’ self-assessment between the groups distinguished by more experienced in the domains of emotional support and game organization, while less experienced referees rated the quality of their educational interactions in the instructional support domain higher than those more experienced. The main conclusion of the research is the postulate to introduce pedagogical and psychological issues into the referee training.

The intellectual dilemma of the study dealing with the specific dimensions of the quality of work life in secondary schools in Iraqi public education on the one hand and which of these dimensions is considered as a critical dimension in determining the quality of work life? The study aimed to diagnose these dimensions and its availability at schools under study . In order to achieve this goal, the researchers obtained theoretical readings from the attitudes of the teachers. This was done by asking the sample working at secondary schools. The study concluded that the Hariri secondary school for girls and the Al-Wathba boys' school had the highest availability of the critical dimensions. The results of the study were analyzed using SPSS.20. In light of this, the researchers introduced a set of recommendations, the most important was the interest in improving the working conditions in schools by providing a suitable environment for the internal work place such as providing air condition, suitable light tools and other necessary inputs to improve their functional performance.
