The paper investigates the determinants of consumer switching behavior in the Indian telecom industry, overcoming the scarcity of research from emerging economies. The study collected data using a questionnaire instrument directly from the customers and was selected through purposive sampling. Binomial probit regression technique was used for modeling purposes. The study concludes that the critical services, service specification, loyalty, and user engagement-related factors influence customer churn. The study specified the key sub-factors directly influencing these four factors. The findings are presented as a set of four different models. The article is the first exploration of the idea of proposing function-specific models and the use of purposive sampling. The study attempts to provide models that are convenient to administer, require specific data, specific to functional area, economic data collection, and may be used based on the context of an investigation. The paper suggests how to perform a convenient investigation using a small dataset.

Research on the effect of work value perception on workers’ health, especially in emerging economies, is scarce. This study, therefore, explored how work value perception affects the physical and mental health of workers in China. We also examined the mediating role of life satisfaction in the relationship between work value perception and health. Taking a random sample of 16,890 individuals in China, we used ordered probit regression and instrumental variable ordered probit regression to test the links between work value perception and workers’ health based on existence, relatedness, and growth (ERG) theory. The results showed that work value perception significantly affected both the physical and mental health of workers; the results remained robust after solving the endogeneity problem. The subsample regression results showed that work value perception significantly affected the physical and mental health of female, male, married, unmarried, religious, and nonreligious workers. Furthermore, life satisfaction mediated the effect of work value perception on workers’ health. These results shed light on the relationship between work value perception and health and thus have implications for improving workers’ physical and mental health. This study can provide a reference for both governmental and corporate policymakers in emerging economies.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to contribute to the existing literature of driving and impeding switching factors by operationalizing the catalyst factor of perceived power among customers. Acknowledging the importance of trust in a financial context, a trust-based framework for the analysis is used. The study explicitly analyzes factors of importance for subsequent switching of banks for empowered customers (i.e. savers) and low-on-power customers (i.e. borrowers). Design/methodology/approach The study measures factors driving or impeding switch of service provider, together with measures of trust and power using online survey methods. The sample is intended to focus on savers and borrowers, defined quantitatively as well as perception wise. Through a multi-group SEM analysis, differences between the samples of savers and borrowers are analyzed. The dependent variable was in both cases inclination to switch. Findings The paper manages to define differences between empowered and less empowered customers, such as borrowers and savers. The mediating effect of trust prevails only for borrowers: here, the only effect on switching behavior stems from a full mediation of stability through trust. For savers, direct influences of both service failure and lack of involvement on trust are of major importance. The importance of trust, however, is lacking; for the sample of savers, the link between trust and switching behavior is insignificant. Practical implications The results may be used as a tool box in order to address consumer switching behavior and mobility in the financial services market. The biggest obstacle for switching banks among savers is the low level of involvement. This has clear implications regarding how to increase switching, e.g., by raising interest. Focusing instead on borrowers, stability of the chosen financial institution turned out to be the most important factor. Originality/value This paper introduces a view on consumer switching behavior, taking into account differences regarding service provider relations (empowered savers vs less empowered borrowers) and the importance of trust in these two settings. The paper introduces trust as a mediator between switching behavior and four determinants: stability, personal relations, service failure and internet-related issues, and involvement.

Abstract Background: Therapeutic compliance in Indonesia was still below 80 percent and may resulted in increased incidence of protozoanal intestinal infection, faster AIDS progression, drug resistance, treatment failure, and transmission of the virus to others. Objective: The purpose of this study was to describe adherence to antiretroviral therapy among MSM who seek treatment at private clinics and investigate facilitators and barriers to ART retention. Method: This study used qualitative research methods and data collected through in-depth interview. The study subjects were selected using a purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using content analysis. Results: The informants were 7 people include 4 PLWHA and 3 health workers. The results showed that most ODHA were compliant in taking ARV therapy and following doctor's advice. Factors supported adherence to ARV therapy include levels of education, access to information, internal motivation, patient relationships with doctors, and social support. Hoaxes, work related factors, and stigma are barriers to people living with HIV in sustaining ARV therapy adherence. Conclusion: Optimal adherence to ARV therapy needs to be maintained and improved because it is dynamic and influenced by various factors. Technological interventions are recommended in monitoring PLWHA compliance in ARV therapy Keywords: adherence, antiretroviral therapy, barriers, MSM, PLWHA.

Consumers are the valuable assets of the organization as they are the ultimate destination of any product or services since they are the ultimate users of the any product or services thus the success of any organization depends upon the satisfaction  of the customers, if not they will switch to other brands. The present paper attempt to study the consumer switching intentions in the telecommunication industry. The research aimed to find the reasons behind the customer switching behavior in cellular services sector of Pakistan. To conduct the research, we surveyed 170 respondents across the different departments in the ISLAMIA UNIVERSITY BAHAWALPUR. The survey was based on the self administered questionnaire. Respondents were selected on the random basis. After examining the collected results, we inferred that the customer switching intentions mainly dependent on the price, core service failure and then the customer satisfaction. This research also confirms the negative effect of trust on switching .intentions .Trust can increase the loyalty of customer which decreases the intentions of consumers to switch. Using regression it is concluded that proposed variables have a significant relationship with the switching. Companies should focus on these factors to retain their customers and make them loyal enough that they could have a long retention period with the company.

The way individuals use internal and external knowledge sources influences organizational knowledge integration, an important source of competitive advantage. Drawing on research into knowledge sourcing and consumer switching behavior, the authors develop an integrated model to understand individuals’ choices between internal and external knowledge sources in contemporary work settings, where information technology has made both easily accessible. A test of the model using survey data collected from an international consulting firm yields an important new insight: satisfied individuals in knowledge reuse friendly environments are likely to use internal knowledge sources while they may also be tempted by easily accessible external knowledge sources. The implications for researchers and practitioners are also discussed.

Online collaborative movie recommendation systems attempt to help customers accessing their favourable movies by gathering exactly comparable neighbors between the movies from their chronological identical ratings. Collaborative filtering-based movie recommendation systems require viewer-specific data, and the need for collecting viewer-specific data diminishes the effectiveness of the recommendation. To solve this problem, the authors employ an effective multi-armed bandit called upper confidence bound, which is applied to automatically recommend the movies for the users. In addition, the concept of time decay is provided in a mathematical definition that redefines the dynamic item-to-item similarity. Then, two patterns of time decay are analyzed, namely concave and convex functions, for simulation. The experiment test the MovieLens 100K dataset. The proposed method attains a maximum F-measure of 98.45 whereas the existing method reaches a minimum F-measure of only 95.60. The presented model adaptively responds to new users, can provide a better service, and generate more user engagement.
