The key to competitiveness in most industries has moved beyond the traditionally confined single organization. In today’s global competitive business environment, competitiveness is heavily influenced by the ability of the multiple organizations in a supply chain to synchronize and integrate their business activities and processes. Supply chain integration, (SCI) which links the activities, functions, processes, and systems of a firm with its customers and suppliers, can reduce uncertainty, enhance responsiveness, reduce costs, and improve customer service. Empirical studies have explored SCI and reported that information technology (IT) is a key ingredient for the success of the integrated supply chain. While the research on SCI has been reported in OM literature, empirical studies that investigate the impact of different levels of IT utilization (ITU) – strategic, operational, and infrastructural - on SCI are not available. This research also explores the impact of top management support (TMS) on the relationship between ITU and SCI. Based on data collected from 220 manufacturing firms, this study indicates that ITU will have a positive impact on the success of an integrated supply chain when top management is personally involved in the technology implementation process.

PurposeThe impact of information technology (IT) on the agility of supply chain management (SCM) systems is very noticeable in the business world nowadays. Competition and constant changes, including product/technological innovations, decreasing product lifestyles and product proliferation, create pressure that affects the business environment. Organizations are required for answering the changes in the market to gain a competitive advantage and business success. The organizations are able to answer to unexpected market changes through supply chain market, and these changes are converted to business opportunities. Using IT to achieve the agility of SCM is one of the important factors to help the organizations. Therefore, the adoption of IT and its efficient implementation can improve the cooperation between supply chain agility through the rapid transfer, the distribution of accurate information and the use of information. This paper aims to investigate the impact of IT on the agility of SCM.Design/methodology/approachA total of 120 employees of the Golasal firm are involved in collecting data using a questionnaire. Measurements were performed in all questionnaires using a five-point Likert scale. The causal model is evaluated by structural equationmodeling technique, which is used to examine the reliability and validity of the model.FindingsThe results have shown that IT has positive influences on the agility of SCM systems. In addition, the obtained results have shown that four variables, namely, IT skills and knowledge, IT-based systems integration, IT infrastructure and design of global position system and geographic information systems, affect the agility of SCM systems.Originality/valueIn this paper, the agility of SCM systems is pointed out and the approach to resolve the problem is applied into a practical example. The presented model provides a complete framework to examine the impact of IT on the agility of SCM systems.

The objective of this article is to evaluate the impact of Transformational Leadership on Organizational Innovation, Supply chain Integration and Organizational Performance. Research was carried out on 562 Vietnamese textile and garment enterprises. We use Smart PLS 3.6 software for data analysis. The results show that Transformational Leadership had a positive impact on Organizational Innovation, Supply chain Integration and Organizational Performance. In addition, the Supply chain Integration plays a role as a complete mediate in the relationship between Organizational Innovation and Organizational Performance. Size has a statistically significant moderate role on the relationship between Organizational Innovation and Organizational Performance. Finally, the leader qualification has a statistically significant moderate role in the relationship between Transformational Leadership and Organizational Performance. From the above results, we recommend the leaders of Vietnamese textile and garment enterprises to improve leadership capacity, apply a transformational leadership style to improve organizational performance.

The fundamental reason for this study was to explore the impact of Supply Chain Integration on Operational Performance through the directing part of Lean Operations. The study essential information gathered from the example that contains 288 supervisors working in Saudi Industrial Organizations lied in the western locale, utilizing an all-around planned survey. This study coordinated to study how the supply chain integration, lean operations, and operational performance can impact each other in manufacturing associations. SEM model created and deliberately surveyed and tried. The key discoveries demonstrate that rehearsing supply chain integration cycles could bring about expanding the open door for manufacturing associations to accomplish operational performance through applying lean practices. Therefore, the connection between supply chain integration and operational performance, just as the connection between lean operations and operational performance, was positive, given these connections, it very well may be presumed that the lean operations (as a directing variable) can have a positive impact the connection between supply chain integration and operational performance. Particularly, the connection between supply chain integration and quality performance measures.

Nowadays women often lead teams, hold high positions in top management, plan and make important strategic decisions in firms or groups. However, little attention in scientific literature has been paid to gender difference in implementing CSR practices of firms. Implementing CSR practices successfully in many cases depends on the gender difference of top management. The object of this study is the importance of ‘feminine gaze’ with respect to gender difference in implementing CSR in firms. This study aims at supplementing feminist ethical – and in part, epistemological – concerns with empirical studies considering the role of women in the top management of firms, then the impact of gender on implementation of CSR initiatives was analysed, and the main drivers linked to gender for the implementation of CSR initiatives were assessed in this study based on the comprehensive literature review. The study confirmed the positive impact of woman representation on the development of CSR initiatives in the firm. The number of women in BOD and employee positions from all stakeholders including customers’ perspectives have positive impacts on the penetration of CSR initiatives, and can be considered as an important driver of CSR in the firms.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationships at the level of plant in a manufacturing network, labelled as networked plant in the paper, between inter-plant coordination and operational performance, supply chain integration (SCI) and operational performance and inter-plant coordination and SCI. Design/methodology/approach This paper is developed based on the data obtained from the sixth version of International Manufacturing Strategy Survey (IMSS VI). Specifically, this paper uses a subset of the IMSS VI data set from the 606 plants that identified themselves as one of the plants in a manufacturing network. Findings This paper finds that external integration is significantly related to operational performance of networked plant, whereas internal integration is not. As an enabler for external integration, the influence of internal integration on operational performance of networked plant is mediated by external integration. This paper also provides evidence to the purported positive impact of internal integration on inter-plant coordination, as well as the positive impact of inter-plant coordination on external integration. It further suggests that inter-plant coordination can influence operational performance of networked plant through external integration and also mediate the relationship from internal integration to performance through external integration. Originality/value This paper contributes to the SCI literature and extends the understanding of the impact of SCI on the operational performance by selecting networked plant as a unit of analysis. Besides, this paper distinguishes inter-plant coordination from SCI and investigates the relationship between inter-plant coordination, SCI, and operational performance for the first time.

Indonesia has entered the Southeast Asian free trade market or better known as ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). The economic growth and the increasing number of companies annually will bring some impacts on the competitions for many companies in Indonesia, so they have find their competitive advantage. The biggest competitive advantage of Indonesia is in the primary sector companies which is producing consumer goods from natural raw materials and semi-finished goods.  To win the competition, the primary sectors require product standards as the company output by implementing TQM, which usually adopts ISO as the main requirement for exporting their products. This is also the criteria for the research samples. The questionnaires are distributed to 100 companies that have over 100 employees, and the returned questionnaires are 64, with four incomplete questionnaires, making the response rate of 60%. The data analysis is using PLS and proves that all hypotheses are accepted. First, TQM implementation has a positive and significant impact on supply chain integration. Second, TQM implementations in companies are able to create a proper documentation system for each department to facilitate good communication among departments. Third, TQM implementation has a positive impact on supply chain performance and employee satisfaction. Fourth, supply chain integration has a positive impact on employee satisfaction and supply chain performance. Employee satisfaction has a positive effect on supply chain performance. The overall impact of TQM implementation on supply chain performance is 0.4680. TQM implementation brings a positive impact on supply chain integration and supply chain performance, thus increases the total impact of supply chain performance

Purpose Companies increasingly exchange information to work more closely with supply chain partners. Although information exchange is a critical element for up- and downstream partnerships, the purpose of this paper is to indicate that it is not a guarantee for improved performance and should be combined with other integration tactics to fully capture its benefits. Design/methodology/approach Using a global sample in the industrial sector, a moderated mediation framework for both upstream and downstream integration, which links integration tactics to operational performance, was empirically tested. Findings This research shows that operational integration is indispensable to capture the benefits of information exchange. In addition, it points out that the impact of the use of information technology (IT) is stronger for upstream integration. Practical implications While the data show that the use of IT significantly improves the delivery performance in the supply chain, it also signals to managers how and when to invest in supply chain integration tactics. Originality/value This paper contributes to a better understanding of the supply chain integration-performance link, by clarifying some of the inconsistencies in previous literature and by simultaneously analyzing upstream and downstream implications.

COVID-19 has now unleashed a global supply chain crisis across a huge number of organizations, stemming from a lack of understanding and flexibility of the multiple layers of their global supply chains. In addition to the lack of efficient management through unpredicted events and occasions. Drawing on extended resources based view and resilience theory, this paper attempts to shed the light on the mediating role of resilience between supply chain integration and organizational performance represented in quality, cost and delivery performance during the COVID-19 pandemic. 224 questionnaires were collected and analyzed through process macro technique proposed by Andrew Hayes to test the mediating role of resilience. The results indicated that resilience can significantly mediate the relationship between supply chain integration and quality, cost and delivery performance. Therefore, this paper contributes to both extended resources based view and resilience theory. As it empathize on how organizations can acquire a unique bundle of resources through integration, which will allow them to maintain a desirable level of performance during market disruption through building resilience. The results will practically guide organizations to invest in building resilience in order to be able to cope with unexpected events that disrupts the business environment such as COVID19.
