A Comparative Analysis of Chinese Consumers’ Increased vs. Decreased Online Purchases

Previous research on online consumer purchases has focused on increased purchases and neglected decreased purchases. However, factors impacting these purchases are different. Drawing on the two-factor theory, in this paper, the authors compare factors affecting increase and decrease in Chinese consumers’ online purchases. The authors conducted separate group analyses with PLS. The results show that consumers’ perception of service quality significantly affects increases in their online purchasing behavior, whereas their perception of website quality significantly affects decreases in online purchasing. These results show that e-tailers must not only focus on factors that promote online shopping but also those that deter consumers from making online purchases.

Online shopping is an emerging trend throughout the world. Likewise, it is used in China among Chinese consumers, but not all foreigners use it frequently due to several factors. This study discussed those factors which cause hindrance for foreigners to use online shopping and their behavior towards it. To do so, the authors have proposed the model by extending the technology acceptance model (TAM). The data were collected from the international students in China through a survey questionnaire and analyzed by SPSS to draw the results of the proposed relationships. The findings show that the online shopping behavior of international students in China is negatively related to financial risk and positively related to trust and ease of use. Moreover, purchase intention mediates these relationships. The results will be useful for consumers and online sellers to retain existing consumers and attract more foreigners studying in China. Moreover, the paper mentioned the implications and future directions of the study.

With the development of e-commerce, online shopping for agricultural products has been more popular. And how to improve consumer's satisfaction has become more important. Literature review shows that few researches on online purchasing agricultural food focus on the consumers' satisfaction. This article designs a questionnaire, including 20 factors based on agricultural product characteristics, website quality and service quality to evaluate consumers' satisfaction. The evaluation shows that service quality, agricultural products' safety, brand and website quality significantly impact consumer satisfaction. Moreover, service quality is the most important factor. Finally, some recommendations are made in this article to develop cold chain logistics system, strictly control the agricultural products quality, build an agricultural products brand, improve the quality of agricultural product websites and strengthen policy control and guidance.

The Aim of this research is to study the factors affecting the consumer behavior in the path of offline to online shopping. To this end, a survey was conducted and the questionnaires were distributed among the students of the university. The replies have been analyzed by chart analysis. The results of the survey has shown that most of the people already doing online shopping and prefer to continue it.the factors such as psychological factors, social factors emotional factors, and the privacy factors which affect the buyer approaches to online purchases. Several attitudes of consumers toward online shopping are not in rest in the study due to the study restricted to Andhra university-Commerce and management Time, the convenience and the recommendations have been identified as important factors. Time was considered to be the affecting factor for the majority of students. Most of the consumers hesitate not to do shopping offline, because of the time concern.

Online consumer’s buying behavior consists of buying process of products and services through internet. Internet shopping is the process of buying goods and services from merchants who sell on the online. Online shopping allows buyers to buy sooner, more choices and can order products and services with comparative reasonable price. This study examines the factors affecting customer satisfaction towards online shopping in Kathmandu valley. The customer satisfaction is the dependent variable. Perceived service quality, perceived ease of use, perceived security and online payment process are the independent variables. The study is based on 408 respondents from the online shopping buyers of Kathmandu valley. Convenience sampling method was followed to select the respondents. To achieve the purpose of the study, structured questionnaire is prepared. Descriptive and explanatory research designs have been used. Correlation and regression analysis have been used to make analysis and draw the conclusion. The regression models are estimated to test the significance and importance of selected factors on customer satisfaction towards online shopping in Kathmandu valley. The result shows that there is positive relationship of perceived service quality and perceived ease of use with customer satisfaction. It is also found that online shopping has positive impact on customer’s satisfaction in Kathmandu valley. The findings of this study will be fruitful to researchers, policymakers, businesspeople and Government for academically as well as policy perspectives.

Since COVID-19 was first detected in China in 2019, governments around the world have imposed strict measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus, which substantially impacted peo-ple’s life. Consumers’ food consumption behavior has also changed accordingly with reduced gro-cery shopping frequency, replaced in-person grocery shopping with online shopping, and increased valuation on food. In this paper, we aim to investigate the change in Chinese consumers’ food con-sumption and their willingness to pay (WTP) for vegetables and meat, using a dataset with 1206 online samples collected between February and March 2020. Consumers’ WTP for vegetables and meat is estimated using a double-bounded dichotomous contingent valuation design, and factors affecting their WTPs are also investigated. Results show that consumers have a higher WTP for these food products during the pandemic, and their WTP is positively affected by their anticipated duration of the COVID-19, their online shopping shares, their direct exposure to infected patients, their gender, and their income. These results imply that the food industry shall try to develop online market channels as consumers are willing to share the costs, while lower-income consumers may not be able to meet their food needs with prices increased beyond their WTP and thus may call for the government’s support.

Few studies in the literature on electronic commerce provide empirical investigation of consumer behavior in the international online shopping context. This study identifies and discusses factors that influence international online purchases and profile the characteristics of those who purchase and those who do not purchase from online stores overseas in three main categories: the online shopping experiential factors, the international shopping motivational factors, and the international trust attitudinal factors. The international online shoppers tend to highly trust foreign vendors and have high preference of and confidence in online shopping. More importantly, these shoppers are knowledge of shopping sites' hosting countries and strongly believe in those sites' global propensity. The paper makes contributions towards new knowledge and understanding of how international online shoppers differ from non-shoppers.

Aim. The presented study aims to determine the reaction of Chinese consumers to the use of e-commerce and neuromarketing tools during the coronavirus pandemic and to develop guidelines for e-commerce companies regarding the use of neuromarketing tools in the post-pandemic period.Tasks. The authors assess the awareness and attitude of respondents as consumers (individuals) regarding e-commerce tools in the People’s Republic of China (PRC); assess the attitude of respondents as consumers (individuals) to neuromarketing tools in e-commerce in the PRC during the pandemic; develop guidelines for improving the neuromarketing methodology in the PRC in the post-pandemic period.Methods. The authors test several hypotheses using statistical analysis. The hypotheses are tested in practice on the basis of a survey (using handouts and online questionnaires) of individuals. The attitude of Chinese citizens to the use of e-commerce tools is examined. The respondents are asked questions with one answer, multiple answers, and Likert scale questions. Data is processed using IBM SPSS Statistics 26 software and statistical methods, such as frequency analysis, contrast of means, and a number of others.Results. The opinion of Chinese consumers on the practice of using neurotechnologies in e-commerce is comprehensively assessed. The study analyzes the awareness of Chinese consumers regarding neurotechnologies and their own consumer behavior, showing their attitude to the use of neurotechnologies in e-commerce in the context of the pandemic.Conclusions. First, the COVID-19 pandemic has not significantly affected the overall income and spending of Chinese citizens. Only one-third of the Chinese population has increased their use of e-commerce platforms to make online purchases. Second, the pandemic has changed the consumption patterns of the Chinese population, making them more open to online shopping. Third, the average time of browsing products and making purchasing decisions on e-commerce platforms for Chinese residents did not change significantly during the pandemic. Fourth, while some Chinese consumers had a negative experience using e-commerce platforms during the pandemic, they used them more often than usual and will make more online purchases in the post-pandemic era. Fifth, when making online purchases, Chinese consumers always pay attention primarily to the quality and price of goods rather than other factors.

China is fast becoming one of the most important luxury goods market. The purpose of this study is to investigate the determinants of luxury purchasing behavior in the Chinese affluent market. Based on the logit analysis of 618 affluent respondents, the results show that social-adjustive motivation and life satisfaction are significantly associated with the purchasing of luxuries. However, the value-expressive motivation, which has been verified that could drive the consumer buy luxury items, does not have significant effect on luxury purchasing behavior for the Chinese affluent consumers. In the meantime, the demographic characteristics of individual are significantly associated with his/her luxury purchasing behavior, and the younger affluent consumers with higher income and international education are more likely to buy more luxuries. It helps researchers and companies to understand the differences of the factors influencing luxury consumption between Chinese consumers and their global peers.
