Online reviews have emerged as influential sources of information which greatly affect customers’ pre-purchase decision. Some studies have found that culture impacts online reviews, but many aspects of online review usage are still not well-understood. This study seeks to understand: What factors influence the usage of online reviews and consumers’ intention to use online reviews influenced by culture? This study collects data from U.S. and Thai consumers to examine what factors affect user attitudes and intentions. Structural Equation Modeling is used to analyze the data and the findings reveal that most of the proposed factors influence online review adoption for these two nationalities. One significant difference was found between the respondents of the two countries. The results should help online businesses gain a better understanding of these factors, and thus direct their efforts to develop features which positively influence online review usage.

Plastic waste management has become a serious environmental and health concern owing to large amounts of plastic deposits globally. Recently, innovative and sustainable solutions have been introduced (e.g., bio-nanomaterial plastics) to overcome the growing environmental threats. Hence, green marketers need to develop effective advertising campaigns to enhance the usage of bio-nanomaterial plastics. Past literature has suggested that cultural value-laden advertising appeals can give sustainable behavioral cues to consumers. Hence, this research unfolds the underlying cultural dimensions between the value-laden eco-friendly advertising appeals and intention to use bio-nanomaterial plastics (henceforth IBP). The present study proposes a moderating model in which two dimensions presented in the Global Leadership and Organizational Behavior Effectiveness (henceforth GLOBE) framework interact with the individuals’ perception of eco-friendly advertising appeals (henceforth IPEA) to drive bio-nanomaterial plastics usage. The model was tested by conducting an experimental study on a sample of 364 Pakistani consumers. Findings of structural equation modeling show a significant difference in the relationship between IPEA and IBP, which is moderated by the performance orientation (henceforth PO) and institutional collectivism (henceforth IC) dimensions with diverse intensity. These findings validate the effectiveness of PO and IC (as cultural dimensions) and eco-friendly advertisements that can potentially promote the consumption of bio-nanomaterials plastic.

e-learning based on Web 2.0 applications is widely available for education to support teaching and learning efficiency and effectiveness. The objective of this research is to examine factors influencing teachers’ intention to use of Web 2.0 into teaching in Indonesian Vocational High Schools (VHSs) using Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) frameworks. Based on these two frameworks, we developed a survey instrument and validated it through face and content validity. For the data analysis, we applied exploratory factorial analyses (EFA). To assess the model, a covariance-based structural equation modeling (CB-SEM) was used. The study involved 640 respondents who completed 35 online instrument items of seven validated variables. Results informed that there was a significant difference based on gender regarding intention to use Web 2.0; however, no significant differences were informed based on age and teaching subject. Besides, the findings also informed that TPACK, subjective norm, and facilitating condition significantly influenced intention to use Web 2.0.

The purpose of the study was to investigate influence of advertisement traits on attitude towards Ads on social media and intention to use them for purchase decision. The study used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to examine the relationship. The validity and reliability of the constructs were evaluated using exploratory factor analysis (EFA). The EFA was conducted using Principal Component Analysis and Varimax Rotation Method. 7 factors explained 67% of variation. The result also showed sampling adequacy with Kaiser-Meyer-Olin (KMO) test and Bartlett’s Test of Sphericity indicated that sample of 255 was appropriate for factor analysis. The result provided a justifiable range of construct reliability and discriminant validity. Consequently, structural model was developed. Confirmatory Factor Analysis was conducted to test the goodness of the model. The result indicated that advertisement contents on social media with informative and entertaining were more likely to be used by the consumers. Similarly, favorable attitude towards Ads on social media had a positive intention to use the message for purchase decision. In addition, this study wanted to know how the quality of service, store image, and Yamaha Motorcycles purchasing decisions are the implications on repurchase intention JG Motor Group in Bandung region. The method used was a survey method with a descriptive and explanatory approach. Data collection using questionnaires to a sample of 200 customers. Analysis of data analysis using SEM (Structural Equation Modeling). The results showed that the quality of service, store image was rated by the majority of consumers are already good, so is the customer purchase decision and repurchase intention. Service quality and store image influences purchase decisions either simultaneously or partially, as well as influencing purchase decisions of consumers repurchase intention JG Motor Group in Bandung region.

These research aims to discovered the influence from price, brand image, time pressure towards purchase decisions and its impact on customer satisfaction to passengers at Terminal 3 Departure Soekarno-Hatta International Airport . This research typed used explanative research which aims to analyze the relationships between one variable to another. The exogenous variables in this research were price, brand image, and time pressure, the endogenous variable as mediated in this research was purchase decision, while the endogenous variable was customer satisfaction. Research population were passengers who passed through terminal 3 departure at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport with sample size of 120 respondents. Data analysis technique in this research used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with assist from Linear Structural Relations (Lisrel) program version 9.2. The results had showed that 1) price had positive and significant impact towards purchase decisions, 2) Brand image had positive and significant influence on purchase decisions, 3) time pressure had positive and significant impact to purchase decisions, 4) purchase decisions had positive and significant affect to Customer Satisfaction.

PurposeThe word-of-mouth comments considered as the evaluation of a purchase experience have been widely discussed in the literature. Nevertheless, the study of online reviews pre-purchase stage remains limited. The purpose of this study is to analyze the variables that support word-of-mouth adoption in the choice of the hotel, from the receiver perspective.Design/methodology/approachThe information was collected by face-to-face survey to 393 guests from 32 hotels in two Spanish cities. Structural equation modeling was applied to test the hypotheses.FindingsThe results confirm the significant and indirect effects of the motivations for conducting reviews on online word-of-mouth adoption. Specifically, the significant relationship chain of convenience and risk reduction motivations, intention to consult online comments, volume of comments exert a significant influence on acceptance the suggestions in online reviews and recommendations about the hotels.Research limitations/implicationsThe study of these variables advances the literature on online word-of-mouth by analyzing in-depth the antecedents of the purchase decision using technologies. From the practical point of view, the results help hotels managers to improve the way to share information by facilitating access to the accommodation experiences of other consumers.Originality/valueThe novelty of this research is mainly found in the study of how consumers modify their behavior using online word-of-mouth reviews. From the receiver perspective, consumer motivations, word-of-mouth volume and intention to consult serve as antecedents of purchase decision.

Previous studies have demonstrated that online reviews play an important role in the purchase decision process. Though the effects of positive and negative reviews to consumers’ purchase decisions have been analyzed, they were examined statically and separately. In reality, online review community allows everyone to express and receive opinions and individuals can reexamine their opinions after receiving messages from others. The goal of this paper is to study how potential customers form their opinions dynamically under the effects of both positive and negative reviews using a numerical simulation. The results show that consumers with different membership levels have different information sensitivities to online reviews. Consumers at low and medium membership levels are often persuaded by online reviews, regardless of their initial opinion about a product. On the other hand, online reviews have less effect on consumers at higher membership levels, who often make purchase decisions based on their initial impressions of a product.
