The concept of role has revolutionized the access control systems by making them more efficient and by simplifying their management. Role mining is the discipline of automating the definition of roles in a given access control system. It is a vivid research area, which has attracted a growing interest in the last years. Research on role mining has produced several interesting contributions in this field, and has also raised several related issues toward leveraging them in actual enterprises. This paper is a comprehensive analysis of the main research directions around role mining and the future trends. The authors present the problem of role mining, the current achievements to solve it and the related open issues. With this objective, they define a complete and realistic business process for Role Mining, and the authors sequentially analyze the issues related to each step of the process by investigating the main contributions in the literature. They also point the unhandled issues and we highlight the future perspectives.

Neuropolitics – Genesis, Assumptions, Development Prospects Neuropolitcs is an interdisciplinary research area, located at the intersection of various sciences, combining political science with neuroscience. However, it is not another direction that, as it may seem assumes biological determinism. It is based on belief about the interfusion of nature and culture, physical and mental dimensions in man. The aim of article is to familiarize the reader with the historical and theoretical aspects of this still developing research area. Also the research tools and main research directions of neuropolics were outlined. Authors indicate the positive and negative results of neuropolitics research and perspectives for political science and neurosciences.

In the present paper unique data about initial shortcomings in the design and application of different industrial and consumer products are presented. The research area covers all of the products’ development stages beginning with factory automation and equipment control systems, and continuing with the design and realization of light fittings up to follow-up on the product development of office machines. The statistical results of this research are presented. Further the essence of the synergy-based approach to the design process, focussing on the most common human faults/mistakes, is clarified. Evidence is presented to show that the reason for human shortcomings is either the lack of synergy in teamworking or problems in inner personal communication. A detailed definition of the concepts of positive and negative synergy, with examples from both categories is given. Guidelines are given to reduce human risks at the conception of interdisciplinary systems design to avoid bad engineering. A framework for the synergy-based design of interdisciplinary systems is presented capable of adapting to the competences of the design team.

Research background: The research, which is the subject of the paper, is based on the global expansion of the use of electronic access control systems using biometric data for user verification. Due to the globalization of products from foreign markets to Slovakia, there is a competition between suppliers. The disadvantage is that organizations that are considering procuring an electronic access control system focus their attention only on its price. Globalization and global use have neglected the skills gap between European, American, and Asian markets. Purpose of the article: The paper will aim to point out, through a case study, the financial and functional differences of electronic access control systems. In the case study, a comparison of three different systems with the possibility of procurement on the European, American, and Asian markets will be performed on the building - administrative building. Methods: The article will mainly use methods such as the global method and the optimization model of the financial plan. As well as a case study, the cooperation of achieved results and analysis of possibilities of foreign markets. Findings & Value added: The results achieved by the paper will be globally usable in the conditions of European countries. These will be the conclusions of a case study that will point to the appropriateness of choosing an electronic access control system using biometric features in a standard office building. We can also consider the creation of a project budget usable for organizations as one of the added values.

During the symposium "Ecosystem Services at the Landscape Scale" from the EU-IALE conference 2009, several challenges for future research on approaches to use the concept of ecosystem services at the landscape scale were identified, focussing on the need for integration. Three main research directions were discussed, (i) the definition of the potentials and limitations of the ecosystem service approach for landscape analysis, (ii) the identification of suitable methods and tools to apply the ecosystem service approach at the landscape scale and (iii) the demand of incorporating ecosystem and landscape services in decision making and management. This paper briefly addresses and discusses some of these topics and puts them into a broader perspective. From this viewpoint it becomes obvious that many high-quality sectoral studies are carried out, e.g. concentrating on specific services or specific linkages within the "ecosystem service cascade" which describes the relation between biophysical characteristics of the landscape, their functions, services, benefits and values for society. In order to provide useful information for decision makers, ecosystem services studies should be supplemented by investigations of the whole systems of interactions between ecological processes and societal valuations.

Abstract In this paper we present insights drawn from recent research projects aimed at developing visualization and gamification tools to stimulate individual behaviour change and promote energy and water saving. We address both the design of resource-saving programmes and the methodologies to assess their effectiveness. We conclude by presenting a vision for the future and discussing open issues that could lead future research directions in the field of behavioural change approaches to resource sustainability.

The article shows the relevance of the widespread use of computer vision technology on the example of face recognition as part of the access control and management system. The main methods that are used in the implementation of classical control systems and access control are considered. The scheme for the implementation of the access control with face recognition technology is described. The use of this technology makes it possible to increase the level of information security of enterprises and, as a result, reduce the possible financial damage from the implementation of attacks on their assets from illegitimate penetration into the protected area through the access control system using the passes of legal users.

Online pharmacies are companies that sell pharmaceutical preparations via the Internet. The purpose of this contribution is to summarize the existing evidence on the issue, following four main research areas. The first is about data on consumers buying from online pharmacies. This is the most relevant area regarding behavioral aspects. The research area was tackled via different approaches, specifically: the study of cognitive characteristics and decision-making patterns, the definition of consumers’ socio-demographic characteristics via population-based surveys, clinical case reports on complications occurring in consumers of drugs purchased online, and the empirical study of risk perception regarding online pharmacies. Other research areas include the study of online pharmacy website characteristics (found by web scanning), and of the products bought online in terms of purchase characteristics and drug quality. A large amount of literature was dedicated to the complex legal and ethical implications raised by online pharmacies.
