Mold companies are always facing the urgent price quotation requirements for plastic parts from customers in today’s competition market. This paper analyzed the price composition based on the standard man-hour method of plastic mould. Furthermore, the calculation of manufacturing cost for injecting mold was discussed. A computer aided quotation package for small and medium mould company was developed on SolidWorks software, by which the quotation of plastic mould can be obtained quickly. The application results of a number of actual cases show that the method can satisfy the engineering requirements of mold price.

Plastic mold polished, in the mold cavity parting collapsed throwing angle appear, which seriously affect the dimensional accuracy and surface quality of the plastic parts, this article proposed two effective preventive measures: (1) cutting the model which having a same size as plastic model of the cavity at the parting surface, sticking the model and cavity parting with 502 glue together, within the required type of alignment, and then thrown together, polished finish will be a model to out; (2) in the plastic model cavity machining process, type in the mold cavity surface set aside allowance 0.5 ~ 1mm, polished until the cavity is completed, the surface of the cavity type 0.5 ~ 1mm rubbed off with a grinding allowance, it will ensure the cavity size and cavity to prevent the collapse of sub-surface angle at the phenomenon.

The injection molding process of plastic parts is simulated and analyzed through a three-dimensional model of bottom cover of USB (Universal Serial Bus) extender obtained by Pro/E software and MPI module of Moldflow software. Orthogonal test is applied to analyze the influence of press time, press pressure, mold temperature and melt temperature on the warpage of plastic parts. Those being influenced by factors above are listed in order as press pressure, melt tempreture, mold tempreture and press time. The optimum parameters are obtained by analyzing effect trend that the four factors can influence on warpage.

Warping deformation is an important indicator to evaluate the performance of thin-wall Plastic. In this paper, using the CAE(computer aided engineering)technology and DOE(Design of experiment)in the thin-wall injection molding field, take a box-shaped thin-wall plastic parts for example, using the moldflow software to simulation analyze of the process parameters of injection molding. By analyzing the causes of plastic parts’ warpage, learn the holding pressure is a leading role in warping. Optimization of process parameters under the guidance of the orthogonal test, it can reduce the warpage of plastic parts effectively.

Due to of many advantages and specific properties plastics are gradually becoming the most widely used materials in the engineering industry. In the last years, more and more metal parts are converted to plastic, in the cases of mechanically loaded parts as well. However, the usage of plastic is limited by its mechanical properties and production possibilities. Conventional injection moulding as the most productive plastic part production technology mostly enables the manufacturing of thin-wall parts with uniform wall thickness, what restricts full-fledged utilization of plastics. In this study, the benefits of progressive gas assisted injection moulding is investigated in order to produce plastic parts with higher mechanical properties. The paper presents complex study with respect to structures generated in material during gas penetration state, orientation of reinforced short fibres, stress relaxation behaviour, notch effect of rough gas channel surface, producible cross-section profiles with high moment of inertia and undesirable production effects, which can occur during gas aided moulding technologies. Finally, the mechanical properties of specimen produced by conventional and gas-assisted injection moulding were compared using numerical analyses. For comparison, integration of two numerical solver - FVM for fluid analysis of plastic/gas injection and FEM for structural analysis of specimen strength/stiffness were used.
