Considering the influence of communication constraints and uncertain short delay, this paper models NCS with communication sequence as a discrete periodical switching system with uncertainty, which integrates information scheduling and control. Using the method of piecewise Lyapunov function and the switching system theory, the asymptotic stability condition of the system with periodical information scheduling is derived in the form of matrix inequalities, and a output feedback controller design method is derived.

The static output feedback (SOF) synthesis problem for descriptor systems is considered in this paper. LMI-based algorithms are proposed to find potentially structured SOF gains ensuring admissibility and evenH∞performance of the closed-loop system. These algorithms are then used to propose a (descriptor) observer-basedH∞controller design method. An alternative technique for determining such separated estimation/control structure, after the design step, is also proposed. Several numerical examples, throughout the paper, demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms.

This paper focuses on the problems of static output feedback control andH∞controller design for discrete-time switched systems. Based on piecewise quadratic Lyapunov functions and a new linearization method, new sufficient conditions for system stability andH∞controller design are obtained. Then, an improved path-following algorithm is built to solve the problems. Finally, the merits and effectiveness of the proposed method are shown by two numerical examples.

This paper presents an approach to turbofan engine dynamical output feedback controller (DOFC) design in the framework of LMI (Linear Matrix Inequality)-based H∞ control. In combination with loop shaping and internal model principle, the linear state space model of a turbofan engine is converted into that of some augmented plant, which is used to establish the LMI formulations of the standard H∞ control problem with respect to this augmented plant. Furthermore, by solving optimal H∞ controller for the augmented plant, we indirectly obtain the H∞ DOFC of turbofan engine which successfully achieves the tracking of reference instructions and effective constraints on control inputs. This design method is applied to the H∞ DOFC design for the linear models of an advanced multivariate turbofan engine. The obtained H∞ DOFC is only in control of the steady state of this turbofan engine. Simulation results from the linear and nonlinear models of this turbofan engine show that the resulting controller has such properties as good tracking performance, strong disturbance rejection, and satisfying robustness.

This paper deals with a new system design method for motion and vibration control of a three-dimensional flexible shaking table. An integrated modeling and controller design procedure for flexible shaking table system is presented. An experimental three-dimensional shaking table is built. “Reduced-Order Physical Model” procedure is adopted. A state equation system model is composed and a feedback controller is designed by applying LQI control law to achieve simultaneous motion and vibration control. Adding a feedforward, two-degree-of-freedom control system is designed. Computer simulations and control experiments are carried out and the effectiveness of the presented procedure is investigated. The robustness of the system is also investigated.

Identification and control are important problems of power system based on ambient signals. In order to avoid the model error influence of the controller design, a new iterative identification and control method is proposed in this paper. This method can solve model set and controller design of closed-loop power system. First, an uncertain model of power system is established. Then, according to the stability margin of power system, stability theorem is put forward. And then controller design method and the whole algorithm procedure are given. Simulation results show the effective performance of the proposed method based on the four-machine-two-region system.

We address the problem of the globally asymptotic stability for a class of stochastic nonlinear systems with the output feedback control. By using the backstepping design method, a novel dynamic output feedback controller is designed to ensure that the stochastic nonlinear closed-loop system is globally asymptotically stable in probability. Our way is different from the traditional mathematical induction method. Indeed, we develop a new method to study the globally asymptotic stability by introducing a series of specific inequalities. Moreover, an example and its simulations are given to illustrate the theoretical result.

This paper is concerned with the nonfragile H∞ controller design problem for linear time-invariant systems. The controller to be designed is assumed to have norm-bounded uncertainties. Design methods are presented for dynamic output (measurement) feedback. The designed controllers with uncertainty (i.e. nonfragile controllers) are such that the closed-loop system is quadratically stable and has an H∞ disturbance attenuation bound. Furthermore, these robust controllers degenerate to the standard H∞ output feedback control designs, when the controller uncertainties are set to zero.

[abstFig src='/00280005/04.jpg' width='250' text='Multirate output feedback control' ] In the new design method we propose for a multirate output feedback control system, the hold interval of control input is longer than the sampling interval of plant output. In this system, unknown state variables are calculated using control input and plant output without observers. The multirate output feedback control system has been extended by introducing new design parameters that are designed independent of the calculation of the state variable. To our knowledge, however, no systematic design scheme has ever been proposed for design parameters in this case. In this study, quantization error is dealt with statistically and design parameters are decided to minimize quantization error.
