An efficient way to repair the damage of concrete is to enable the concrete adapt to the surrounding environment actively and have self-repair capabilities. In this paper, a type of concrete beam with embedded glass fibers filled with adhesive capable of crack self-repair was investigated. The capacity of self-repair cracks in concrete beams was verified by bending tests, and the influence of the layout of glass fibers on crack self-repair was studied. Test results show that the stiffness of concrete beams increases after crack repair. The glass fibers can be arranged according to the average crack spacing of reinforced concrete beams. In addition, the influence of the levels of crack repair on properties of concrete beams was analyzed with the finite element analysis software ANSYS.

The paper makes an analysis of the reinforced concrete beams with exterior FRP Shell in Finite Element, and compares it with the test results. The results show that, by means of this model, mechanical properties of reinforced concrete beams with exterior FRP shell can be predicted better. However, the larger the load, the larger deviation between calculated values and test values. Hence, if more accurate calculation is required, issues of contact interface between the reinforced concrete beams and the FRP shell should be taken into consideration.

Six reinforced concrete beams, including 4 beams strengthened with BFRP sheets at different layer of BFRP sheets and 2 control beams, are tested to investigate the effect of layer of BFRP sheets on the ultimate flexural resistance and load-deflection response of the pre-damaged concrete beams strengthened with BFRP sheets. Results show that the flexural resistance of pre-damaged concrete beams increases along with the BFRP sheets layer increasing,but the flexural resistance enhances the degree not to assume the linear relations to the enforcement layer.Numerical simulation of the pre-damaged concrete beams strengthened with BFRP sheets is conducted by ANSYS, and the results of numerical simulation are compared with those of the test results. It turns out that the results of numerical simulation are in good agreement with the test results.

Fourteen concrete beams reinforced with 500MPa longitudinal steel bars, of which 6 with skin reinforcement and 8 without skin reinforcement, were tested under two-point symmetrical concentrated static loading to investigate their flexural behavior. The results indicate that the flexural behavior and deflection mode of test beams with skin reinforcement are basically consistent with those of test beams without skin reinforcement. The use of skin reinforcement can significantly reduce average crack spacing and short-time maximum crack width. And the use of skin reinforcement can also slightly increase the short-time stiffness. Under the serviceability limit state, mid-span deflections are in good agreement with the calculated values according to formula in GB50010-2010. However most of calculated average crack spacing and short-time maximum crack width are larger than measured values. According to the test results, the normal formula of crack width should be revised.

The object of this paper was to use a nonlinear plane stress finite element procedure to predict the behaviour of simply supported reinforced concrete beams with a large opening, under mid-span static loading. In the finite element analysis, parabolic isoparametric elements were used in conjunction with the discrete bar formulation. A smeared cracking approach was included and concrete under different states of stress was modelled by using individual models that were incorporated to represent a biaxial state of stress. Reinforcing steel was modelled by using a uniaxial elastoplastic strain-hardening curve. Test results showed that the above approach was found to be satisfactory in predicting the load–deflection curves, crack patterns, and ultimate loads for this type of beam. Through the finite element analysis software, fourteen strengthened beams are calculated in the condition of considering bonding-slip or not respectively. Comparing simulation results with test and theoretical calculation, We can draw the following conclusions: Testing reinforced concrete beams when there is no debonding, ANSYS simulation, theoretical calculations and experimental results agree well. Testing reinforced concrete beams when there is debonding. By considering the bond-slip calculation model calculation accuracy is higher. .Numerical results show that, prestressed CFRP with relative of prestressed girder of carbon fibre reinforced beam can significantly improve the cracking beam loading, and effectively improve the yield loads, but the ultimate load.

An experimental investigation was carried out to study shear carrying capacity and ultimate flexural moment of reinforced cement concrete beam. Two series of simply supported beams were prepared by varying diameter and spacing of shear and flexural reinforcement. Beams of cross section 230 mm X 300 mm and length of 2000 mm. During testing, maximum load, first crack load, deflection of beams were recorded. Test results indicated that decreasing shear spacing and decreasing its diameter resulted in decrease in deflection of beam and increase in bending moment and shear force of beam.

This paper reports experimental data on the structural performance of disturbed regions in reinforced concrete beams with corrosion damage to the embedded steel stirrups. A total of 15 reinforced concrete beams were constructed and tested. The test beams were 350 mm deep, 125 mm wide, and 1850 mm long. The beams were tested in three-point bending under a simply supported span of 1500 mm. Nine beams had the embedded stirrups subjected to accelerated corrosion. The test variables were the corrosion damage level and the shear span-to-depth ratio. The test results indicated that the corroded beams exhibited reduced shear strength in comparison to the uncorroded control specimens. The shear strength reduction was up to 53%. Furthermore, the reduction in shear strength due to the corrosion was found to be greater at smaller shear span-to-depth ratios.

In order to study the performance of concrete frame columns that reinforcedby assembleinclined web steel truss, with the same reciprocatinghorizontal displacement and different axialcompression.It canbe calculate the mechanical behavior of concrete frame columns and reinforced columns by using the finite element analysis software ABAQUS. Simulation analysis shows that the bearing capacity ofreinforced columnshas greatly increased andpresented a full hysteresis curve. The result shows that the reinforcement method of assemble inclined web steel truss can greatly improve the bearing capacity and ductility of the concrete frame column, and the axial compression is larger, the better the reinforcement effect.
