Mobile Agent (MA) is the combine result of Agent technology and distributed technology. MA can move according to the hope of user; MA can take action independently according to the change of environment; MA can return the result after finishing the task. On the basis of analysis of the problems of traditional e-commerce, the design thought of E-Commerce based on MA is proposed. Combining the characteristics, object model, message mechanism and the common software package of IBM Aglet platform, the design framework of E-Commerce based on MA is put forward, the design aims, architecture, and concrete process, collaboration message between Multi-Agent, system safety program are confirmed. At last, the validity of the study is proved by the prototype system, and the key technologies in the implementation are discussed.

To improve the quality and efficiency of technical service, shorten the producing cycle of product, a new mode of technical service is presented, which is networked technical service based on the multi-Agent technique, network technique and modern communications technique. The architecture and function of the networked technical service system oriented production-NTSS are researched, and the key technologies including multi-Agent system, virtual assembling oriented the process of production and the assignment and rank of technical service information are studied. The workflow of NTSS is discussed, and base on these theories a prototype system is established, and the security, practicability and high efficiency of NTSS are proved.

Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system in the modern industrial automation control network is facing an increasing number of serious security threats. In order to meet the security defense requirements of oil and gas SCADA system, an intelligent security defense model based on multi-agent was designed by analyzing the security risks in oil and gas SCADA system and combining the advantages of multi-agent technology in distributed intrusion detection system. First, the whole structure of this model was divided into three layers: monitoring layer, decision layer and control layer. Then, the defense model was verified by C4.5 decision tree algorithm, and obtained a good result. Finally, the security defense prototype system of large-scale oil and gas SCADA system based on this model was realized. Results demonstrate that the application of multi-agent technology in the security defense of oil and gas SCADA system can achieve more comprehensive defense, more accurate detection, which can handle large-scale distributed attacks and improve the robustness and stability of security defenses. This study makes full use of the multi-agent architecture and has the advantage of accurate detection, high detection efficiency and timely response.

One hindrance to the widespread adoption of mobile-agent technology is the lack of security. Security will be the issue that has to be addressed carefully if mobile agents are to be used in the field of electronic commerce. SAFER (secure agent fabrication, evolution and roaming) is a mobile-agent framework that is specially designed for the purpose of electronic commerce (Guan & Hua, 2003; Guan, Zhu, & Maung, 2004; Zhu, Guan, Yang, & Ko, 2000). Security has been a prime concern from the first day of our research (Guan & Yang, 2002; Yang & Guan, 2000). By building strong and efficient security mechanisms, SAFER aims to provide a trustworthy framework for mobile agents to assist users in conducting mobile or electronic-commerce transactions. Agent integrity is one such area crucial to the success of agent technology (Wang, Guan, & Chan, 2002). Despite the various attempts in the literature, there is no satisfactory solution to the problem of data integrity so far. Some of the common weaknesses of the current schemes are vulnerabilities to revisit attacks, when an agent visits two or more collaborating malicious hosts during one roaming session, and illegal modifi- cation (deletion or insertion) of agent data. The agent monitoring protocol (AMP; Chionh, Guan, & Yang, 2001), an earlier proposal under SAFER to address agent data integrity, does address some of the weaknesses in the current literature. Unfortunately, the extensive use of PKI (public-key infrastructure) technology introduces too much overhead to the protocol. Also, AMP requires the agent to deposit its data collected to the agent owner or butler before it roams to another host. While this is a viable and secure approach, the proposed approach, Secure Agent Data Integrity Shield (SADIS), will provide an alternative by allowing the agent to carry the data by itself without depositing them (or the data hash) onto the butler. Besides addressing the common vulnerabilities of current literature (revisit attacks and data-modification attacks), SADIS also strives to achieve maximum efficiency without compromising security. It minimizes the use of PKI technology and relies on symmetric key encryption as much as possible. Moreover, the data encryption key and the communication session key are both derivable from a key seed that is unique to the agent’s roaming session in the current host. As a result, the butler can derive the communication session key and data encryption key directly. Another feature in SADIS is strong security. Most of the existing research works focus on detecting integrity compromise (Esparza, Muñoz, Soriano, & Fomé, 2006) or bypassing integrity attacks by requiring the existence of a cooperating agent that is carried out within a trusted platform (Ouardani, Pierre, & Boucheneb, 2006). However, these works neglect the need to identify the malicious host. With SADIS, the agent butler will not only be able to detect any compromise to data integrity, but will identify the malicious host effectively.

This article aims to develop a new environment of collaborative learning, by taking into account the criteria of construction of knowledge by the apprentices and the adaptative management of that knowledge by artificial agents. The multi-agent technology has been chosen due to the possibility of having artificial agents with internal decision processes to help students in the construction of their own projects and enabling learning objects available in accordance with the cognitive characteristics of the students and of their group. In this multi-agent system, exchanges of messages between the agents can occur so that they can perform theirs tasks in the best possible way.

The Multi agent system (MAS) model has been extensively used in the different tasks of e-commerce like customer relation management (CRM), negotiation and brokering. For the success of CRM, it is important to target the most profitable customers of a company. This paper presents a multi-attribute negotiation approach for negotiation between buyer and seller agents. The communication model and the algorithms for various actions involved in the negotiation process is described. The paper also proposes a multi-attribute based utility model, based on price, response-time, and quality. In support of this approach, a prototype system providing negotiation between buyer agents and seller agents is presented.

Accuracy management of production materials plays an important role in offshore platform projects. To improve both the efficiency and accuracy of material management in offshore platform projects, a novel material management system characterized by the notion of a material information unit was proposed in light of a review of the industrial Internet of Things and multi-agent technology. The material information unit is used to carry data on production materials and serve as a basic information unit in the system. Furthermore, agents of different functions are employed to tackle assorted tasks. Using this system, material information can be precisely recorded, tracked, and traced during the manufacture of offshore platforms. In addition to this system, an algorithm targeting at multi-agent negotiation is designed. Finally, a prototype system is developed to verify the feasibility and efficiency of this material management process.

This paper deals with the verification of a multi-agent system simulator. Agents in the simulator are based on the Mobile Agent Network (MAN) formal model. It describes a shared plan representing a process which allows team formation according to task complexity and the characteristics of the distributed environment where these tasks should be performed. In order to verify the simulation results, we compared them with performance characteristics of a real multi-agent system, called the Multi-Agent Remote Maintenance Shell (MA–RMS). MA–RMS is organized as a team-oriented knowledge based system responsible for distributed software management. The results are compared and analyzed for various testing scenarios which differ with respect to network bandwidth as well as task and network complexity.

Insufficient welding or bad welding of motor armature is one of the main faults of motor armature. With the help of the application of multi-agent technology in the fault diagnosis system of motor armature to detect insufficient welding or bad welding, the intelligent description of the various faults has been enhanced, also, the capacity of fault diagnosis of the system have been greatly optimized and improved. In this paper, we first analyses the characteristics of the fault of motor armature with insufficient welding or bad welding, by which the characteristics of the fault are identified. Next, we introduces agent and multi-agent system. Finally, the building of fault diagnosis system based on multi-agent technology is discussed.
