In recent years, increases the pace of industrial and civil construction, as well as the scale of buildings under construction. Appear new building materials and technologies. Increased the need for skilled personnel in the field of civil engineering. Construction professions are in stable demand with school leavers. Following the results of the admission campaign in major universities of St. Petersburg, which train specialists for the construction industry, the competition and the passing score were high. The article analyzes the results of the admission campaign of this year, in particular, admission to the Civil Engineering Institute of St. Petersburg State Polytechnical University which is one of the most respected construction faculties of Russia.

Along with the high-speed development of China's construction industry, building materials as the material basis of civil engineering construction, the quality of building materials is directly related to the quality of construction projects, so the good building materials quality, particularly important to detect and control work. In this paper, combined with the author's working practice, discusses how to do detection and control the quality of building materials should pay attention to the problem.

Based on the background of the Ministry of Finance’s concern about the issue of goodwill impairment and the frequent outbreak of goodwill impairment risk, this paper analyzes the difference in the proportion of goodwill impairment during the valuation adjustment mechanism ( VAM ) period and after the VAM period, with a view to providing theoretical and data reference suggestions for the standard-setters and regulators on preventing goodwill impairment risk and improving the relevant regime of VAM, and also providing theoretical support and risk warning for stakeholders in M&A. Combining the normative research method and the empirical research method, this paper takes the merger and acquisition event completed by the A-share listed companies of civil engineering construction industry in 2014-2016 as the initial sample, and studies the difference in the proportion of goodwill impairment during the VAM period and after the VAM period. The conclusion of this paper is: In the merger and acquisition transaction with VAM, the proportion of goodwill impairment of listed companies after the VAM period are greater than that of the VAM period.

Mobile computing technology has an enormous potential in civil engineering, mainly in the field of construction management. This paper presents an approach by using mobile computing in a civil engineering construction project, exploring how information can be exchanged at a construction site, and how billing of quantities (BOQ), drawings and specifications are shared for the benefit of the project. One of the major obstacles in using information technology (IT) when applied to civil engineering is due to the dynamic changes in the construction activities and the diversity of construction methods as compared to other industries. This has proved to be a great disadvantage when trying to give construction sites adequate IT support. Computers require infrastructure, which can be transferred easily to the head office, but rarely to the construction site itself in a systematic way. Therefore, the impact of IT on the way the construction industry actually works has not been significantly utilized. This paper consists of two main parts. The first part defines the concept of mobile computing, describes some recent research, and stresses the potential for the construction industry. The second part is focuses on an approach, implementing mobile computing in a real construction site.

Most civil engineering construction works, and the site investigations and planning decisions that precede them, are intimately concerned with the nature of the first few metres of the Earth's surface. The materials that constitute this zone were either deposited by the processes that took place in the Quarternary or have been significantly altered by them. This volume contains a collection of papers which examine in detail those processes, the properties of the materials that are produced by them and their implications for construction. The subject is considered from an international point of view with authors from 14 countries describing events in glacial, periglacial, temperate and tropical environments. The scene is set by P. G. Fookes whose keynote address describes from an engineer's perspective the events of the Quaternary and how they affected the surface of the Earth. Each environmental theme is introduced by a report on the papers by an eminent worker in that field and there are 'state of the art' reviews of the major themes by J. N. Hutchinson and G. E. Blight. This book is an important contribution to the engineering geological literature, especially relevant to today's international construction industry, combining clear overviews with detailed case studies which demonstrate the implications of Quaternary processes and materials in civil engineering operations.

With the development of our country's economy and society, the level of science and technology is constantly improving, and the construction industry is also booming. The construction technology has greatly affected the quality of civil engineering. Due to the rapid development of social economy, people's economic level and living standards have greatly improved. Therefore, people's requirements for the quality of civil engineering are getting higher and higher. Therefore, the construction company must continuously improve and innovate the civil engineering construction technology, and improve the quality of the construction project to meet the social needs.

The continuous economic and social progress of our country has helped the rapid progress of civil engineering projects. However, the relatively improved civil engineering project creation also has many shortcomings, such as waste of resources, depletion, and pollution of the natural environment. The construction project itself is an item. The energy consumption is relatively high. Due to the shortage of resources and the more serious natural environment and ecological problems, the public pays more attention to the related problems of their own quality of life, and more and more people are adopting green building materials. Therefore, it is very important to explore the application of green building materials in civil engineering projects.
