In tandem cold rolling, the control of the temperature of high-grade non-oriented silicon steel is a difficult problem for its large deformation resistance and the preheating procedure before rolling. And it is complicated to calculate the total temperature rise of rolling deformation zone due to the comprehensive influence of the plastic deformation heat, the friction heat and the contact heat loss. So, to precisely calculate the total temperature rise, firstly, based on the four classical cold rolling force formulas, the initial total temperature rise calculation models are established correspondingly by theoretically analyzing the temperature rise of deformation heat, the temperature rise of friction heat and the temperature drop of contact heat loss; then, the model based on the improved Lian rolling force formula is adopted, which leads to calculated best matching the measured temperature; finally, considering the complex formula calculation of the initial model, based on the influences of different rolling parameters on the total temperature rise, a simplified model for convenient calculation is proposed by the nonlinear regression analysis of the initial model calculation results and main rolling parameters, which is convenient for the actual application by the field technicians.

The deformation in the inner region along the thickness of the heavy steel plate can be improved by snake rolling method. Then the microstructure and property will be refined and the crack in the inner region may be avoided. So the in-depth research on snake rolling method mechanics parameter modeling should be conducted to guide production. The rolling deformation zone will be divided into back slip zone, cross shear zone, front slip zone and reverse deflection zone according to the direction of the friction during the snake rolling process. The four zones may not exist at the same time. The boundary conditions of existence of the back slip zone, cross shear zone and front slip zone were established by calculating the position of neutral point by a special method. The calculating models which were used to calculate the snake rolling mechanical parameters including the rolling force and rolling torque were setup. The calculated models of unit compressive pressure in the four zones were setup by the slab method, and at this basis, the accurate calculating models of the rolling force and rolling torque were setup according to the composition of the rolling deformation zone and the boundary condition. The mechanical parameters were calculated by the analytic method and the numerical method, and the relative deviation is less than 5% which can satisfy the industrial requirement. The present analytical model can predict the characteristics during snake rolling easily and quickly and it is also suitable for online control applications.

The hot rolling processes of slabs have been simulated by 3-D explicit dynamics Thermal-mechanical Finite Element Model (FEM) to solve the problems of edge defects. It can analyze the deformation characteristics of rolling slabs, calculate Lode parameter values in rolling deformation zone and analyze the stress-strain state in the entrance and exit of the slabs edge. Because there are the relationship between plastic deformation types and Lode parameter, and the quantitative relation metal flow and various Lode parameter. Results showed that there are complicated metal flow and various Lode parameter values in the edge of rolling deformation zone. Although there stress-strain states are various in the entrance and exit of the slab edges the μdε<0, the tensile strain increment in the direction of max principle strain was bigger than another two directions and the edges had the character of tensile deformation. This is the major cause that edge of slab is more defects than other zone.

In the process of copper alloy hot continuous rolling, the problem of copper sticking to the roller seriously affects the surface quality, performance, and service life of the copper products. Roll sticking occurs as the adhesion energy of Cu is lower than that of Fe and the Fe-Cu interface, and the severe surface deformation which forces the copper into direct contact with the roll during the process of profile rolling. Based on the copper deformation law and adhesion phenomenon in the hot continuous rolling process, a rolling deformation model and roll copper adhesion model or copper alloy hot continuous rolling were established, and their simulation was realized using finite element software. Through finite element modeling of the hot rolling deformation zone, the distribution of the temperature, contact normal stress, and exposure rate in the hot rolling deformation zone were obtained, which were consistent with the actual roll adhesion phenomenon and copper adhesion position. To address the copper sticking behavior of the rolls, the process optimization method of matching the motor speed with the elongation coefficient (the 1# and 2# motor speeds were adjusted to 1549 r/min and 1586 r/min, respectively), adjusting the roll gap to 7.9 mm, and increasing the number and pressure of roll spray nozzles were put forward, which effectively solved the problem of copper sticking to the roll, significantly improved the surface quality of the copper and the service life of the roll, and can be used in production.

Applying the research result of the whole corrugated web H-beam to rail structure, a new kind of rail structure, the corrugated web rail was generated. The special structure rail was successfully rolled in the Research Mill Institute of Yanshan University. This experiment proved that rolling force of corrugated web rail was greater. Based on the software ANSYS/LS-DYNY, the rolling process of corrugated web rail is simulated. Comparing with rolling traditional rail, nip condition, deformation zone, elongation modulus, zone of slippage on the delivery side and on the entry side of rolling corrugated web rail are analyzed, Through the analysis of the character of rolling corrugated web rail, the reason of greater rolling force is found out.

In some cases, the processes of piercing or expanding pipe blanks involve the use of high-frequency active vibrations. However, due to insufficient knowledge, these processes are not widely used in the practice of seamless pipes production. In particular, the problems of increasing the efficiency of the processes of piercing or expanding a pipe blank at a piercing press using high-frequency vibrations are being solved without proper research and, as a rule, by experiments. The elaboration of modern technological processes for the production of seamless pipes using high-frequency vibrations is directly related to the choice of rational modes of metal deformation and the prediction resistance indicators of technological tools and the reliability of equipment operation. The creation of a mathematical model of the process of vibrating piercing (expansion) of an axisymmetric pipe blank at a piercing press of a pipe press facility is an actual task. A calculation scheme for the process of piercing a pipe plank has been elaborated. A dependence was obtained characterizing the speed of front of plastic deformation propagation on the speed of penetration of a vibrated axisymmetric mandrel into the pipe workpiece being pierced. The dynamic characteristics of the occurrence of wave phenomena in the metal being pierced under the influence of a vibrated tool have been determined, which significantly complements the previously known ideas about the stress-strain state of the metal in the deformation zone. The deformation fields in the zones of the disturbed region of the deformation zone were established, taking into account the high-frequency vibrations of the technological tool. It has been established that the choice of rational parameters (amplitude-frequency characteristics) of the vibration piercing process of a pipe blank results in significant increase in the efficiency of the process, the durability of the technological tool and the quality of the pierced blanks.
