The structural behavior of a steel reinforced concrete (SRC) transfer beam in high-rise building is studied in the paper. Mechanical properties and deformation characteristics between transfer beam and shear wall are analyzed by an analytic approach and the nonlinear finite element method. The stress analytical solutions for the SRC transfer beam are obtained and agree with finite element calculation data in an actual project. The results show that the beam can be as an eccentric tension member, meanwhile the performance of shear wall must be considered. And it also shows that the shear stress and vertical compressed stress must be considered in end both transfer beam and shear wall and there is interaction between the beam and the shear walls above. The results can be used to describe the behavior of the SRC transfer beam under complicated loads.

This paper uses ANSYS finite element program to do the nonlinear finite element analysis on steel reinforced concrete L-shaped short-shear walls. Through applying the vertical and horizontal load on the model, three typical stages of the whole working period are studied. And the cracking load and deformation regularity in various stages are obtained. The development process of cracks until the specimen damaged is revealed. At last, the development process of crack distribution at different stages is studied.

In order to discuss the effect of different concrete strength on the seismic behavior of the L-shape steel reinforced concrete (SRC) short-pier shear wall , this article analyze three L-shape steel reinforced concrete short-pier shear walls of different concrete strength with the numerical simulation software ABAQUS, revealing the effects of concrete strength on the walls seismic behavior. The results of the study show that the concrete strength obviously influence the seismic performance. With the concrete strength grade rise, the bearing capacity of the shear wall becomes large, the ductility becomes low, the pinch shrinkage effect of the hysteresis loop becomes more obvious.

Nonlinear finite element analysis of abnormal exterior joints consist of Steel Reinforced Concrete column and Reinforced Concrete beam was performed using ABAQUS computation program, the joints failure mode and the skeleton curve were calculated. Comparison with experimental results to prove the reliability of finite element analysis. Then, the paper analyzed different parameters which affect the joints loading capacity, the results indicate that to a certain extent, the eccentricity of the upper and lower column sections and steel ratio both have important effects on the stiffness and ultimate loading capacity of the joints; with the increment of the ratio of axial compression, the joints ductility will be reduced.

This paper deals with behavior and capacity of punching shear resistance for ribbed slabs produce from self-compacting fiber reinforced concrete (SCFRC) by application of nonlinear finite element method. The analysis will be achieved by using ABAQUS software. The nonlinear finite element analysis by ABAQUS will be compare with the experimental results. Results and conclusions may be useful for establishing recommendation and need to be acknowledged.

In order to determine the deformation performance index limits for medium-height RC shear wall components based on Chinese codes with the shear span ratio between 1.0 and 2.0, the reliability of the nonlinear finite element method was first verified by four typical medium-height shear wall components experiments in some literatures. Then, the nonlinear finite element method was applied to analyze a set of medium-height RC shear wall components designed according to current Chinese codes. Parametric studies were made of the influence of shear span ratio λ, axial compression ratio μ and main flexural reinforcement ratio of confined boundary members ρflex. Finally, the deformation performance index and its limits of the medium-height RC shear wall components under severe earthquakes are presented by the finite element model results.

One of the types of earthquake-resistant systems is the concrete shear wall system, which has attracted the attention of engineers due to its good performance in past earthquakes. But some architectural constraints force engineers to install openings in shear walls; thus, this will affect the behavior of the shear wall. Many researchers have conducted experimental and finite element studies for assessing the effects of openings in reinforced concrete shear walls. However, there is a lack of comprehensive comparisons between different studies. This paper reviews some most recent experimental and finite element studies available in the literature and presents a review of the main contributions. This literature review reveals that the seismic responses and the stiffness of structures are influenced by the size and location of the openings in the reinforced shear wall.
