Non-obstructive particle damping is a composite damping technology based on traditional particle damping and impact damping. Being Compared with viscous elastic damping structure, advantage of NOPD is damping characteristic of system improved greatly on the basis of specific whole designing structure and whole mass. The technology has good general vibration-reduced outcome. Beam structure is a common structural element form in engineering application. Because of vibration or instability of beam under external excitation, in this paper, free beam is regarded as an object, and many factors affecting damping characteristic of NOPD are studied, which supplies referring results for engineering application of NOPD.

Non-obstructive particle damping (NOPD) is developing in combination with particle damping technique, impact damping technique and material science. NOPD technology has good damping characteristic and nicer effect on vibration absorption. In the paper experiments of vibration absorption characteristic for beam applying NOPD are done and some conclusions are obtained, which affords important reference for engineering application of NOPD technique.

Non-Obstructive Particle Damping (NOPD) is a new damping technique which is based on traditional particle damping and impact damping technique. NOPD Structure has a good effect on decreasing sound and vibration. A new improved algorithm based on the endochronic theory is researched in the paper. Response calculation by the algorithm and tests for NOPD beam have been done in conditions of one, two and three holes filled with tungsten particles. Results show it feasible to calculate the response of NOPD structure by the improved algorithm, which affords an effective analysis method for engineering application of NOPD technique.

The higher order discontinuous asymptotic fields which are similar to the Williams’ solutions of homogenous material are obtained by the displacement method and asymptotic analysis for a plane crack at the physical weak-discontinuous interface in non-homogeneous materials. The results provide a theoretical basis for the numerical analysis, experimental investigation and the engineering application of physical weak-discontinuous fracture.

Warp-knitted brush fabrics are composed of an outer surface formed by weaving the front and rear needle beds with spacer yarns interposed between them. Warp-knitted brush fabrics can be used as a non-slip cover for car seat cushions; the adhesion between non-slip fabric and car seat is related to the shear strength of warp-knitted brush fabrics. In this article, to study the factors affecting the shear force of warp-knitted brush fabrics, three different processing methods and four different stretching speed intervals were used to find the effects of stiffeners and action of different speed intervals on shear properties of fabrics. The experimental results show that the stiffener treatment can improve the shear resistance of the warp-knitted brush fabrics, and the effect of different speed intervals can affect the shear resistance of fabrics. These findings will have a guiding significance in the design and production of warp-knitted brush fabrics applied to fabrics such as car seat cushions, and the results can also help to study the shear properties of warp-knitted brush fabrics for wider applications.

For condensing turbine, steam exhaust point is in wet steam area. The exhaust steam humidity of steam turbine is difficult to get due to lacking of effective measuring method. Calculation of exhaust steam humidity has always been one of the key parts of the analysis of thermal power units. The main factors affecting exhaust steam humidity are turbine load and turbine exhaust pressure etc, and they are of non-linearity. This paper develops a calculation method to calculate exhaust steam humidity based on BP neural network. Taking a N1000-25/600/600 ultra-supercritical (USC) steam turbine as an example, the exhaust steam humidity is calculated and the results show that the method has a good accuracy to meet the needs of the engineering application.

The vibratory finishing process is widely used for finishing metal components. An experimental investigation is reported on the factors affecting the metal removal and resultant surface roughness during vibratory finishing including the influence of chemical solutions. The effect of process parameters such as media size and impact frequency is studied by measuring the contact forces. A method to investigate the effect of chemical solution and to optimize the processing time to achieve desired resultant surface roughness is presented.

Postponed-set mortar (PSM) is a new type material applied in prestressed concrete components. Successive coating a lay of PSM on prestressed strand is a key to engineering application. On the basis of experimental investigation, the model of PSM screw conveying is built by using the theories of rheology, and the flow for PSM in a single-screw coating machine is studied. The experimental results suggest that the Bingham plastic’s PSM can be conveyed by screw and coated on prestressed strand. It is achieved that PSM and polyethylene sheath is automatically and successively coated on prestressed strand only once by using the machine.
